We arrived at the QE2 after a rough flight and a bout of dysentery, expecting to do battle over a booking issue but reception handled us with calm diplomacy and courtesy. The first of five star service no doubt. As she works her magic on the console before her, I take note of the Queen's golden bust surrounded by flowers, cards and teddy bears. Direct contrast to the four large portraits of the sheiks of the United Arab Emirates, the lobby is complete in its mourning with many easels displaying photographs from a very young Elizabeth launching her namesake and others of her aboard the ship. This respect that the Arabic owners have of a culture not their own is worthy and adds another star to my mental count. Then the upgrade the receptionist offers swings the star count to seven. The condolences continue in a tribute on the elevator screen, then onto our room, which is huge and has space for storage galore, the mind wanders to wishing again I had the chance to sail on her. Between the marble bathroom and the TV screen with a personalized welcome message I add another star to the review in my head. The bed is so perfectly not soft or hard and competes with the perfect pillows so I throw a star at them. Sleep is heavenly and with morning I find it hard to resist turning over and dozing on but the day awaits. Breakfast is served on the deck above, more views but it's the stunning array of so many options to eat that blows my mind as I saw the guest manifest of occupied rooms, every tray and cabinet is filled for less than 30 rooms. You know it ... another star. We wander round the ship later and I pose in front of a bigger than life portrait of Liz and Phil and again marvel the renovations have left the history and character of this beautiful boat intact. And that's why I give her (the hotel not the queen) her eleventh star. Star no 12 is because the air conditioning is not set to morgue like every other mall and restaurant in Dubai but a comfortable 20 ish. Even the indoor pool is heated just so, enough to cool without getting chilled. And the last star- lucky 13, not only are there library books in the lobby to borrow but tucked away in unused halls and corners more book shelves wait. The idea of previous passengers books tweaks my literary fetish and if books aren't a sign of a place that deserves a galaxy of stars, what else could?

We visited the QE2 to sign the book of condolence for our lovely Queen while on holiday in Dubai. We were able to get places on the heritage tour while we were there and we are so pleased we did! Chris and Craig were our guides for the day and WOW! They were fantastic! Informative, friendly, humorous and lovely people. The tour was exceptional! We even danced the waltz in the ballroom thanks to Chris and his tuition. The man’s talents are endless. After the tour, we went to the Golden Lion for a glass of fizz - what a way to spend my birthday. Thank you Chris, Craig and the beautiful QE2.

I visited the QE2 today to do the Herritage Tour. As a keen ship lover I really looked forward to the experience to see this legend of yesteryear, and I was not dissapointed! First contact was made at reception by Lucy. She is such a welcoming person with an amazing personality! Thank you Lucy for your great service! You are a credit to the hotel! Secondly our tour guide, Craig, was fantastic. With excellent knowledge and relaying the info in a clear and enjoyable way, never rushing us and making sure we get the best of the tour. Thank you so much to Craig for making the experience so great! Afterwards I roamed around the public areas and got swept away to a time gone by thanks to the decor and ambience that seeps from every corner and hallway. I really enjoyed this experience and would recommend it to anyone who would like a look at the glamour of such a famous ship! However the ship herself is only half of what makes this tour so great. The amazing staff completes the package! Keep up the good work guys. Thank you for making my day!

Had a taxi to The QE2 Port Rashid to pay our respects and sign the condolence book in our Queen HRH’s memory. The museum was dedicated to her with lots of security and staff, it was very well organised. We were able to wander round look at all the flowers and sign the condolence book. All staff were so helpful offering condolences and what an honour to take time and visit. The ship is amazing and we spent time wandering and taking photos. A great time to visit with our Queen passing, the respect and condolences from staff was phenomenal. A great tribute thank you. Julie

Wonderful experience onboard a legendary ship. My wife and I had Afternoon Tea on the QE2 and had a great time. It was great to see what had been done to preserve and improve the QE2 and learn about the conversion to a hotel. The food was excellent and I commented that this was the first time I’ve ever seen Beef Wellington included in an afternoon tea. As an old Englishman, this was something quite special as you don’t find this old English dish served much these days. The service we received from Asif was exemplary and he answered all my questions about the conversion of the ship into a 5 star hotel. He was really interesting to talk to and spent time getting to know my wife and I. Thank you to all of the staff onboard the QE2 and particularly in The Queens Grill for an amazing afternoon to round off our trip to Dubai!!

Myself and my Husband spent 3 fantastic nights on board the QE2 hotel and we loved every single second of our stay. check in - Check in was fantastic, quick, efficient and so fun, thanks to the amazing Lucy! Lucy, thank you for looking after us and being such a wonderful person. You were our first point of contact for the QE2 and you are an absolute asset to the ship! Room - We booked a King room and it was so nice, so much bigger than we imagined and the bed was super comfy and we slept so well. Room attendants - These guys are amazing, they work so hard to make sure the room is spotless and clean everyday and that we had everything we needed. Thanks for your hard work and for always smiling and saying hello when we saw you in the corridors. Breakfast at the Lido - What can we say except this breakfast was so yum!! We loved the scrambled eggs, the beef sausages and the best hash browns ever! My Husband particularly enjoyed the freshly made pancakes and we loved the latte and cappuccino made to order each morning. Hanna looked after us and we loved her so much, she is so lovely and always smiling, she literally is the best person to see every morning and really made our day. Queens grill - We had the Britannia afternoon tea and wow, we loved it so much! The wellington was the best we have ever tasted and every little bite we took of all the immaculate little treats was as delicious as the last. Thank you to Asif for looking after us, we loved talking to you and you really as an asset to the experience. The golden lion pub - We spent so many hours in here enjoying fantastic happy hour drinks and yum British food and playing darts lol which we haven't done for years! This pub is an absolute gem, we felt like we had gone back in time to the mid 90's in the UK and it is such a fantastic place to spend time and the service is so good, we never had to wait for drinks and the staff here are all wonderful and seem so genuinely happy to work there and were all chatty and happy to tell us about the ship and the pub, thanks guys, we really enjoyed our time there! Heritage tour - Oh this is an absolute MUST for any stay on the ship (or even if just visiting for the day) these guys really know their stuff and we were so drawn in from the second the tour started. The best and more knowledgeable guides anywhere we have experienced and they answered all our questions and we had a really fantastic time with them! thanks guys, you made our day! The day we checked in Queen Elizabeth sadly passed away and we felt so privileged to have been staying here during this time, but the ship never made it somber, they just honored her service and everyone on board who came to spend some time to feel less homesick and celebrate her life with other Brits and people from around the world. Overall we absolutely LOVED our 3 nights stay and would 100% recommend this to anyone who loves history, fantastic food and second to none service! Thank you so much QE2, we will never forget our time we spent here.
