We went there for 3nights. The room was not good but okay. Every day they "cleaned" the room, but actually they just made a big mess in our backpacks. Finally after we left Luang Prabang we realised that they stole our cash, 300CHF in Thai Baths. We are really angry about it and trying to tell it the police in Laos. But, as always, we won't see our money anymore. We are in contact with booking.com to take it out of the list for Luang Prabang. DO NOT STAY THERE!

We made a online reservation for the Global Guesthouse, but had to find another hotel because we found active bed bugs on the sheets and marks of previous bed bug problems (small dots of blood on pillows and sheets, dark spots on the matress). We explained the situation and agreed that we would not be charged for the room and subsequently had to look late at night for another accommodation. Days later our creditcard was charged by another Hotel in Luang Prabang where we did not stay, the only source of the charge can be the Global Guesthouse as we did not share our creditcard details anywhere else. The Luang Prabang River Lodge (whose name appeared in the bank details) did not reply to our questions regarding the creditcard charge. Stay away.

This place is really lovely if your a middle ground traveller. Anything luxury, this is not the place. The room is cleaned daily and ours had doors out into the courtyard which was really nice. Downside is that they have termites. Its a real shame and I am worried that they maybe don't know the danger of these little bugs, but I hope they can terminate. We didn't mind. Termites don't really bother humans and they were nowhere near the bed or the bathroom so it was fine, but just a tip! I also think it is probably only in that one room as it is ground floor at the front of the building and we didn't see any evidence of them elsewhere. The staff are EXTREMELY kind and helpful and the breakfast was yummy. Really lovely place and great location only 10-15 minute walk from the night market etc.

We stayed here because it was cheap but it was also really great! We ended up in a large room with a big bathroom. The staff were friendly and offered laundry service, tour booking and breakfast. Breakfast was good and there were nice smoothies included. The guesthouse is in walking distance to the river, the night market, restaurants and night life but is located down a quiet little street.

I can’t really recommend this place. I wouldn't go back. None of the cons I listed are total deal breakers, but when I add them up as a whole but when I add them up I have stayed in places way better than this, for less $. Aside from that, I also had an issue with my booking through Hotel.com. I paid and made the booking in full the same day that I was arriving. When I arrived, some guy tells me they don’t have a room for me the night of arrival. He tells me that one of the guests fell ill and had to go to hospital and that her stuff was still in the room and there were no other rooms available (To be honest, my intuition tells me they were overbooked). He did offer to put me up in another Hotel. In the end I didn’t have much choice and I will say the place was decent. I mentioned this is unfortunate and hope the lady was OK, but this was a major inconvenience (ie. on a short stay of a few days, changing hotels is a royal pain). He told me situation was big problem for him. This really bothered me because running a guesthouse is a job and that’s what you get paid to do and in the end he solved his problem making the customer’s problem (whatever it was and again I think it was overbooking). OK so that’s my little rant about my experience. But as mentioned above even without that situation, I can’t recommend and would look elsewhere. For what they charge I am sure there are better places. Pros - Breakfast included - Aside from the booking issue staff were friendly and helped with tours. - Aircon works well Cons - Ground floor room gets a LOT of noise. You can very easily here the people above. Also the roof is wood and each morning there were bits of wood that were on the floor or on my suitcase and clothes - Can hear anyone in reception area, particularly the person(s) at reception - Can hear the kids next door - For $30 a night they are too cheap to put a small piece of soap and small packet of shampoo (worth less than $0.50). This is the ONLY guesthouse I have stayed in all my travels which has a private bathroom and they do not provide this. I don’t care about having to spend $0.50 for this, but rather the inconvenience of having to find a market to find this stuff. - WiFi is very inconsistent - It’s not far to town (10 minute walk) but it’s not close either - The bed is very uncomfortable. It’s like sleeping on the floor - The room is very small. Hardly room to put a suitcase in. - Something seriously messed up with the toilet plumbing
