My start to this hotel stay was stressful. The room was not what I expected (dirty mattress, stained sheets) and I was ready to pack up and leave. And that is when the amazing hotel manager, Ying, swooped in to save the day. She personally supervised a new room preparation because she really wanted me to be happy and didn't want me walking out in the middle of the night to find a new hotel. Additionally, the hotel staff were right by her side to make sure that I was comfortable and happy. I particularly loved two employees, Kheng and Boonmee, who waited on me hand and foot at every meal with a smile. Other individuals who really made a difference included Twhavin, Channaly and Helen. I saw them every morning and every evening, which meant they worked long hours. But if they were tired, you would never know it because they were always happy and smiling. These employees are the model of what you want to see in the hospitality industry. All in all, I think the hotel chain is very lucky to have the hotel manager and staff here because they excel at their jobs. If I were rating just the employees, I would give this hotel five stars. As for the hotel itself, it's a bit of a mixed bag. It isn't a luxury hotel. The new room I was moved to was certainly acceptable for the price I paid- around $200 a night. But I saw some prices online for this hotel that were in the $300/$400 range and I don't think there are any rooms in the hotel that are worth that. This is not anything that can be changed by the hotel employees on the ground. It is up to the hotel chain owners at the corporate level to invest a little more in the quality of the hotel so that the facilities match the price. simple things like upgrading the bathrooms, and investing in good mattresses and bedsheets. BUT, truthfully, I think a lot of the hotels in this town are not luxury hotels, even when you would expect them to be for the price. I got a massage at the Sofitel which is considered one of the nicer hotels, and it wasn't anywhere near Sofitel standards anywhere else. I listened to children screaming during my entire massage there. In general, because the cost-of-living is so much lower in these parts of Asia, I would've assumed that $200 would get you a mid range luxury room. For example, my hotel in Hanoi was in old town (a great location), the cost was $135 a night and it was completely luxurious. Other hotel details- I thought the breakfast was lovely. There is a range of Asian and non-Asian breakfast items. There is a swimming pool but I didn't use it because I'm not really into swimming pools (though it does make for a relaxing backdrop). The hotel will arrange both airport pick up and drop off which is nice. They arrived with a small drink and towelette which was very classy. The location of the hotel is also great. It's an easy walk to the market and old town. All in all, thanks to the manager and the staff, my stay at this hotel was salvaged and I had a good experience, but had the hotel manager not been there, there would've been a very different story.

Classy, low-key accommodation in the Laos haven of Luang Prabang. Tranquil setting with cool bedrooms and restful pool area. As with everywhere on our tour of Indochina, the staff couldn’t do enough for you. Top marks and Sabaidee! PS, shout out to the @Opera House Café Bar for two gorgeous green curries and the best value glasses of wine we had on the holiday.

Wonderful stay in Luang Prabang. Great location a short walk from the night market and center of the Old Town, but otherwise a secluded and peaceful sanctuary - the perfect retreat after a busy day/night. The entire staff was super friendly, helpful and sweet -- they even arranged a private tour of a local art school when we admired the artwork adorning the hotel restaurant walls. Oh yes, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the spa treatment was sublime. Highly recommend, I'd come back in a heartbeat.

The hotel and staff were truly exceptional! From the warm welcome at reception, where they even tied a string bracelet for good luck, to the delightful driver offering a welcome drink upon pickup, our experience was fantastic. The spacious and clean rooms were complemented by thoughtful touches, such as the evening curtain closing and citronella candle lighting by the maids. The breakfast service was outstanding, with a great selection of food and a chef who skillfully prepared omelettes and eggs. The breakfast staff, treating us like family, knew our names and preferences, always wearing a smile despite their long hours. Special thanks to Pheangvahn, a cheerful and attentive waitress, Bounmee, the positive coffee maestro, Khamhoung, the skilled chef with a lovely smile, and Channally, a welcoming receptionist. A BIG THANK YOU to EVERYONE at Angsana Maison Souvannaphoum for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable. We loved it and look forward to returning on our next visit to Laos!

Very nice staff at an old property in a central location. Room is clean. Room has a mini fridge. Bathroom is on the small side but sufficient. There is a balcony with sitting. When arrived bed was decorated, a nice touch, and there were some fruit. Floor a bit slippery. Nice breakfast with an egg station, a few hot food items, fruit, yogurt, coffee, croissant. Staff is the highlight. They remember guests and acknowledge that. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the night market. If you wake up early check out the monk blessing around 5:30-6 am on the way to the market. If you walk towards the market, on the left side of the street there is a laundry sign. It is $1 per 1 kg. You need to drop off items in the morning and the laundry is ready by 5 pm. Hotel arranged for transportation to the train station for $25. This hotel offers a good value.

We stayed at Maison Souvannaphoum during our recent tour of the Luang Prabang area in Laos. The hotel is very conveniently located near the main street in Luang Prabang and has an interesting history being the home of the former prime minister. Our room in the garden wing was spacious, clean and comfortable, and it was very well laid out. It had everything we needed and all of the hotel staff were always on hand to help us if required. We ate at the hotel restaurant on several occasions - there is an excellent choice of food on the menu, and the food is delicious and presented very well. Our server for dinner (Sham) was very good at explaining what the menu choices contained, and he was very attentive as we dined. We also used the Spa which was very relaxing. If we visit Luang Prabang again in the future, we would certainly choose to stay in this hotel again. Thank you to Khampan and team for all your help!

This was a lovely hotel, in a central location with a large garden. The staff were welcoming and kind to the kids. We were there for 5 nights. Breakfast was good, included an egg station and nice croissants. They only have one interconnecting room in the hotel which was full so we all slept in one large room with a big balcony - the Maison Suite (2 adult and 2 kids, aged 10 & 7).
