This was my second stay at this hotel with a previous visit back in 2011. nothing much has changed but the effects of the covid years has obviously taken it's toll in regard to the completion of some much needed maintenance in areas such as the swimming pool but otherwise its in good shape. The rooms are large and in most instances have excellent views across the garden to the Mekong river as does the breakfast dining area. The breakfast itself is satisfactory but not spectacular. The one complaint is that smoking seems to be permitted which is a definite negative. The hotel is around 4 km from the township but offers a courtesy bus every hour os so. The staff are excellent, always smiling and willing to help with any queries or requests that guests may have. I was so glad to have had the opportunity to revisit after so many years

Recently stayed there with some friends and I highly recommend it.
The hotel is located by the Mekong river with stunning views and a superb location to enjoy breakfast or sunset.
We also must thanks Fabrice(F&b manager) and his staff for the service and their hospitality during our stay.
Luang prabang is indeed a magical location in the northern area of Laos.

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you very much for your kind review. We are very glad to know that you had a great stay with us and love our ground and settings. It is true that we have the best view point of Mekong River in Luang Prabang and you can actually enjoy the Sunset Cruise right from our pier. We will also forward your comment to Mr. Frabrice and his team for their future encouragement and improvement. We wish you all the best and hope to have a chance to welcome you again in the near future. Best regards, Wee Kositanont Hotel Manager

The rooms were spacious with views of the Mekong River & the main restaurant / bar had amazing sunrise and sunset views!!
The staff were very accommodating (maybe as we were part of a larger group) & as long as we gave them some notice it was never a bother to drive us the few kilometers into town. There is a scheduled shuttle service throughout the day.
Gym was new and had good air-conditioning. Outdoor pool had a lovely surround. Breakfast options included a small continental option plus a hot Asian or Western plate.

From the moment we arrived at this lovely hotel I loved being there. A beer and then dinner as we watched night fall over the Mekong was a further 'welcome' to the hotel and surrounds. The staff were warm and professional and gave assistance such as with the shuttle bus and later a sunset boat ride into town (4km). The shuttle is arranged so that going to and from town is easy. Thus Luang Prabang itself and the relaxation of the hotel can both be experienced. The restaurant was so good that we had breakfast, lunch and dinner there for our 3 days. The pool was a welcome addition and a good length for swimming.

This really is a wonderful hotel.Once you step inside, you immediately feel a sense of calm and relaxation.

We had two night stay and from start to finish everything was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the hotel. The rooms were great and the bed was extremely comfortable. WiFi was available throughout the hotel. Breakfast was buffet style plus a choice of a la carte dishes and everything was really tasty.

The Grand is a large resort complex on sprawing gronds and beautiful gardens with one one of the best sights to view the Mekong river.
The rooms are large but have faded from former glory but they are very comfortable and very quiet. It is just that the rooms would benefit from a bit of repainting and attention to detail. The hotel and staff are very laid back and unaffected by the world, however the service is excellent.
The water in the bathrooms is inconsistent.

A true museum of a hotel! It combines comfort with refinement. Big, light and airy bedrooms tastefully appointed, charming and helpful staff. Its location offers good views on the Nam Khan river and its annex on the opposite bank is equally charming. Owner Ivan Scholte produces some wonderful wines and tips for off-track excursions. It is close to temples, shops and other entertainment without compromising its quiet and peaceful atmosphere. My family and I spent an idyllic week there.
Not to be missed: Laos Buffalo Dairy and the Living Land ricefield trip (where you get to go through all the stages of cultivating rice, down to eating it!)

The hotel is Very Tired!! Does not rate a 4 star at best it’s a 2. Beds were awful, towels were thread bare, location is poor too far out of town with limited shuttle service. Mold in the bathroom, no water pressure!! Would never go back and advise others to avoid or be prepared for a poor experience. Couldn’t even get a late checkout and the place was only 25% occupied. Only positive was was service staff were friendly and helpful.

Dear Jim L, Thank you for staying at The Grand Luang Prabang and taking the time to share your valuable comments with us. We sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience you encountered during your stay regarding the beds, towels, bathroom and the water pressure. Please be assured, these incidents were immediately addressed by our senior management team and the location of our hotel is on the outskirts of town, it is ideal for those who are seeking relaxation and a retreat from their everyday lives. It takes 10 mins to reach the town and we have increased our shuttle services 8 times per day which starts from 8:45am drop off and the last pick up from town is 22:00pm. Please accept my apology for the late checkout, such services are complementary and able to offer for guests if the hotel occupancy is not running high. I am glad that you found our team members were friendly and helpful. I would like to thank you for your candid feedback as it has illuminated areas of improvement. The entire team of The Grand Luang Prabang joins me in wishing you a family peace, health and happiness in 2024. Thank you for choosing The Grand Luang Prabang! Best Regards, Douangchanh CHANHMA Hotel Manager

A relic from years gone by, this is a magnificently preserved hotel, high on the banks of the Mekong offering comfortable rooms and stunning views of the river. The rooms have been updated, but still have an old-world feel to them. The plank floors are somewhat uneven which lends a feel of authenticity to it.

Breakfast is good, right on the edge of the river valley with sweeping views. The food is OK, but the view makes up for it.

A magical experience, we absolutely loved our 5 nights at The Grand Hotel. Wonderful friendly staff. Breathtaking views of the Mekong, it feels like a place where time stands still, this magnificent palace set on manicured grounds woven along the edge of the Mekong has been tastefully converted into fabulous accommodation. Such a treat to wake to views that look like a painting. Great service and facilities, cool off in the pool watching the water buffalo and wander through the gardens with Lilly ponds, bliss! This property is a short drive from the town but it’s worth it for the peacefulness, plus they offer regular air conditioned shuttles to and from town - couldn’t have been anymore perfect.
