Staff attentive with being intrusive, made up the bed in the evening and left little gifts. Lovely spacious room with a daily free beer in the fridge, just what you needed on the your return. Hotel ideally situated, walking distance from everywhere. Lovely food, would stay there again

Right on the Mekong River. Close to temples and restaurants. Within 15 minutes walk to the night market. Hotel is historic and is a romantic setting. With well kept grounds. Hotel is old, as advertised. Rooms are appointed and maintained as well as possible in order to keep the historic value. But that means not so convenient in some ways. Inadequate electrical outlets in the rooms. Rooms were well cleaned. Great room with balcony overlooking the Mekong River - except... the river view is blocked by trees. If you looked really hard you could see a glint of water. Otherwise the balcony overlooks the road below. Breakfast service was good. Selection was adequate. Some days it was buffet; some days it was a la carte (probably due to number of guests). Service was excellent.

I stayed one night in June- very low season. The third party site was misleading -indicating a pool as one of amenities and using photos of a pool which were in fact converted into a pond eight years ago. I really wanted to stay at a hotel in an old quarter and w a pool so I selected this hotel. Even I put a bathing suit on when I checked in then I found out that there was not a pool .. a big disappointment. However, a lady manager on duty took care of me and upgraded my room, gave me a complementary 30mm massage (everyone get 15mm), and gave me a free use of a rental bike. I checked in and was asked to book a return transfer and a massage session which I did. Positives: location ! Very strategic. One street off from the most busy street of the old town, just next to the Xiengthong Palace, facing the Mekong river. Walking distance to major sites but if you have a bicycle you can go further and quicker. I found the location was really good. I saw monks processing in a morning in front of the hotel. Managers: they are very savvy and know how to manage difficult situations and they did not disappoint clients. I talked w new GM who came on board a month ago. I expect positive changes and would like to stay again in future. Breakfast - really good. Homemade pastries and you can enjoy it at a terrace along w the Mekong river. Massage: I had a complementary massage and was surprised a high level of techniques and regretted not to have a full massage earlier. The hotel recommended a boat tour to Pak Ou cave was also very good. ($25 w delicious lunch) I really enjoyed. Negatives - Maintenance and cleanliness - while the hotel site is beautiful, as someone said it was not maintained and cleaned well. Some items (such as a garbage bin) were missing. The buildings and furnishing show ages and maintenance and cleaning can be improved. I expect this will happen soon. Staff - most of staff are very nice but they need to be trained better. They forgot many things and make mistakes (e.g. they tried to charge a complementary massage to my room, or forgot to book my tour). I also need to apologize my misunderstanding on the pool issue - from photos and explanations of amenities. GM promised to updates of photos and descriptions as some sites are still using old pool photos. Also I thought airport transfer was included but I was told it was only pick up and not transfer to the airport. As I was asked to book a return transportation I thought it was included. I checked the booking one more time upon my return it was indicated “airport pickup. “NOW I understand they do a full airport transfer if you book direct or via certain sites. Anyway this place has a great potential and I would like to come back to see great improvements.

Me and my sister stayed in the Victoria Suite. We had a very comfortable and hospitable stay with Victoria Xieng Thong Palace. Location is perfect. The staff is very very very helpful and warm. Special mention for Chef Jean Baptiste and his team. Upon knowing that me and my sister are vegetarians they went out of the way to prepare vegan vegetarian breakfast for us. Thank you Team Victoria Xieng Thong for a wonderful stay.
