The grounds are lovely, but the room was a bit disappointing. Stayed in the second floor Jasmine Suite. The room included a relatively large bedroom and small sitting room, with a very uncomfortable bed and uncomfortable small sofa. A long winding hallway connected the two rooms. The bathroom included a moldy shower and oddly sized sink. The shower leaked into... More

Located right next to the famous Wat Xieng Thong, Decorated with piety, following local culture. Maybe that is why the rooms are most charming but quite impractical, specially the bedroom. Also if we knew about the renovation across the street, we would have asked another room from the river side. Service was most polite and friendly. Specially at the breakfast... More

The Xien Thong Palace Hotel is a very nice boutique style hotel which we understand was the last home of the Laos Royal family. It has lovely big rooms, and some nice features like the i-Pod player and the grounds in which it is situated are also lovely. Some of the rooms have a spa pool on the ground floor... More

This was our second stay at this hotel, October for 4 nights. Previous stay was 2012. A great setting: lush manicured grounds, stunning colonial period buildings, a tranquil part of the city, parallel to the Mekong River and next to a temple. Our first room, one night, was a villa. It had 3 inconvenient levels joined by a steep staircase.... More

This hotel is conveniently located on a quiet street but a very short walk to the main street and the Buddhist monastery. Our bathroom ceiling was leaking something black so we were moved to a 2-story suite. The first room had a nice living room with a TV, bath and large bedroom with TV on one floor. Room was fine.... This is the last residence of the Laos Royal Family and it shows. Every room is beautifully done and it sits royally on the Mekong river. We had booked a suite and had our own jacuzzi in a beautiful duplex villa. Very comfortable bed with a balcony overlooking the central courtyard. The bathrooms are beautifully done and having L'Occitane products... More

We did not stay but it looked lovely whilst we were there. We came to watch the first film made about Laos called Chang. It was a fantastic experience and is a good film and I would recommend that people come to see it.

I actually reviewed this hotel in August after a 1 week stay. My comments were not all complimentary so the review has not appeared on this site. I am, therefore, posting again to see how honest and transparent both the hotel and Trip Advisor are. The positives: The staff at the hotel were lovely. The location is also great. The... More
