There's nothing to complain about at Vongprachen. Clean, spacious rooms, fridge, TV, windows, comfy beds. All in a nice house, run by a lovely Lao family. Breakfast is simple but good and filling. 10 minutes walk to night market and Mekong. WiFi is available in the rooms, but don't expect too much from WiFi in Lao. The outside connections drop... This comfortable and well maintained guest house was our home away from home for two months. It is a little difficult to find as it is down a small alley across from Wat Winsunarat. Most tuk tuk drivers have heard of it. It is an easy walk to the main peninsula and the Nam Kahn river but safely away from... More

Loved the Big rooms and how they kept the rooms clean and its surroundings. The hosts while they didn't speak much, always had a smile for you when you arrive and leave. What was challenging was the location, and how the tuktuk drivers had difficulty finding it. You have to tell them that it is near the Wat Vatphanou.

The taxi driver had to make a couple of phone calls to find the place. It's across the street from Wat Wisunalat in an unpaved street. To the historic center, it's about one km. I had planned to stay for three nights and ended staying five. Good breakfast, very helpful staff and wonderful, well maintained rooms. I checked out another... More

After 6 nights in this wonderful family run hotel, we have no hesitation in recommending this as a great place to stay. They were very accommodating with our requests for early breakfasts. There is usually someone on hand who speaks good English. They can be a little difficult to find as the hotel is just off the main road without... More

I initially reviewed the lovely Vongpracham in March 2011. We're back again and I'm happy to report the neighbour's stable of fighting cocks has gone away. The generously proportioned and immaculate rooms are still beautifully appointed with lovely hardwood but now they are also quiet! Enjoy your stay if there's a room available in this 10 room gem!

My wife and I stumbled upon this guest house after an unpleasant night's stay at another place (can't even remember the name of the other place). It's on a very quiet side street, maybe a ten-minute walk from the main tourist strips along the Mekong. We ended up staying for one week at the beginning of October, and then for... More

We spent 9 nights here, our reservations having been made by a friend who lives around the corner from it. The family who run Vongprachan are SO NICE. Our shower curtain and bathmats were about at their expiration date by Western standards (I can not fault them for not changing them because by Lao standards and at LAK 175,000/ USD... More

We found this gem when our usual GH was full. Beautifully polished hardwood accented the otherwise bright and spacious room. Lovely bathroom and luxurious bed indicative of a much more expensive hotel. New TV, air-con, etc., worked perfectly. Free wifi was strongest in the lovely sitting areas outside the rooms. Family owned and operated. Walking distance (5 minutes) to the... More
