Our family with two teenage daughters has the best memories of our stay in this wonderfully friendly hotel. Other hotels might match the comfort but the staff made our stay just perfect. Best service, kindest tips, brief lessons pronouncing Laotian tongue twisters, personal interest and beaming smiles all around. The hotel provides bikes and useful maps. It is located in a quiet part of town. We arrived here by accident as there was construction work ongoing at the booked hotel and after a long morning visiting eight alternatives our choice fell on Muangthong. Best choice of the three week holiday.
This well-built boutique hotel is arranged around a central courtyard with lovely pool. The rooms are comfortable and well-furnished, everything clean and tidy. Breakfasts cater to various tastes and are delicious and nutritious. Located a short walk from the picturesque center of Luang Prabang, the hotel is ideally located on a quiet street in an attractive neighborhood. It's a relaxing, comfortable, charming place to stay during your visit to this incredible small city. In our experience, Luang Prabang is a world-class cultural destination. Most impressive, however, is the attention and dedication of the staff, especially in the reception areas. Mr. Oun and his crew provided superb service and went beyond the call of duty to assist us with our activities. We stayed here the last week of February 2020: the Covid-19 virus was ramping up in the international media and the hotel was experiencing numerous cancellations along with other hotels in the city. The whole staff of the hotel decided to work for the month of March without pay to help the hotel (an Lao Airlines holding) through the coming crisis. That's loyalty and dedication, deeply embedded in the service ethic of this attractive hotel. Highly recommended!…
This was a last minute substitution for a previously booked hotel and I am delighted that the change occurred. The room was wonderful, the service top notch, the facilities superb and the breakfast excellent. I would be hard pressed to find fault with any part of our experience and would stay there again on a return visit.
Hi. The facilities are lovely here at Muang Thong. Clean pool. Lovely deep bathtub with robes and a balcony overlooking the cosy pool area. There lies the issue. Our first night of arrival there were tables and chairs with white table cloths and wine glasses set up beside the pool (outside our bedroom). Wow I thought, what a welcome. Alas the fine dining service was not for the paying guests (mostly couples). Apparently the Hotel runs conventions and meetings and the get togethers and evening meals are around the pool (ie outside our bedroom door). It was quite intimidating to hang out in swimmers and chill with corporates in their suits discussing their ventures. So we went to bed as did all of the other guests who felt the same as us. The point is the venue did not advertise that it was booked for corporate events. That would be ok if the venue was gigantic like a Four Seasons Hotel or Shang Ri La. But for a cosy hotel, it wasn't really that cool because we full tariff paying customers felt squeezed out of the facilities that we were expecting on our holiday and paid our hard working money for. In my experience in the hospitality industry, you either advertise as a boutique hotel (as we booked) or you advertise as a hotel suitable for events. Not both. It leaves a lot of people disappointed because it kills the vibe of a holiday break away from the corporate world. Apart from that, the staff are laid back and relaxed - and very happy to assist with travel bookings. We didn't get a pick up from the airport but that was probably my fault. We also booked a tour to Kuang Is waterfalls with the hotel. It was probably a little too pricey at 350,000 kip (I had paid 150,000 on a previous trip to beautiful Luang Prabang). I blame myself again for not doing my homework. The hotel is handy to walking street and most importantly - there isn't any construction noise going on around in the area - so beware before you book anywhere else that you aren't going to be sleeping next door to gravel trucks and jackhammers. It's worth paying the little extra to have piece of mind. Thank you for our lovely little stay. Good luck with your future ventures. PS the bicycles are in good nick too :)…
My friend and I stayed at this lovely hotel for almost a full week. We really loved our stay here. We appreciated: - free use of bicycles (...fantastic!) - good location: it’s located on a quiet street and it’s easy to go basically anywhere in just a couple of minutes - nice swimming pool with refreshing and very clear water - comfortable chaises longues with umbrellas around the pool - beautifully designed complex of several little buildings in a lovely Lao-traditional style - room and other facilities are kept very clean - good breakfast with new selections every day - hotel staff is very nice and helpful, namely Noy who gave us good tips on what to do & where to eat, Oun who kindly drove us to the airport, Bounma who served delicious cocktails and coffee, and especially our new friend Khamphone who, day after day, greeted us with his welcoming and radiant smile! Things to know in advance: - there are several roosters in the vicinity and they start crowing around 4:45AM (thankfully, the hotel provides earplugs in each room) - walls are thin and you can easily hear conversations from the room next door - the floors in the room are beautifully made of wide wooden planks but they can be very slippery... beware! Overall, it’s an excellent choice and we would gladly return. Highly recommended. …
We stayed at the lovely place for a couple of nights and everything felt like a charme. Especially Vinatta was tremendously helpful and organised everything for us instantly and with perfect English skills. Thanks a lot and see you very soon in Luang Prabang.
Stayed here with friends for 4 nights. The hotel is a good location, it’s quiet and yet only a 10 minute walk from the centre of town and the night market. The rooms are clean and spacious although they are a little dark. As with all hotels in Luang Prabang it does seem to be expensive compared with the rest of Laos The breakfast is OK but nothing to write home about. It’s a good hotel with the only drawback being noise. The rooms are in lodges around the pool - but the way they are constructed means that noise carries really easily between rooms so it can be quite noisy in evening and mornings ( but they do have earplugs in the rooms). Overall a good friendly clean hotel close to the centre - but watch the price and noise.
The hotel is perfect for a couple of nights in the lovely city of Luang Prabang. Conveniently located near the Mekong river and the busy shopping streets and restaurants. The hotell feels intimate with rooms in 4-5 two storeyed buildings surrounding an OK pool. Large rooms that are nice and tidy. The breakfast is adequate with an average selection of Asian and European dishes. The dining areas are somewhat limited. I would recommend to have dinner in one of the many nice restaurants outside the hotel.
We live in Chiang Mai and visited Luang Prabang for a special occasion. We stayed at The Muang Thong Hotel and were delighted with the choice! The hotel is conveniently located in a quiet area just minutes from the Night Market; you can even check-in for your Laos Airways flight at reception! Our room was very clean, spacious, comfortable and with all amenities. The swimming pool was peaceful and relaxing especially after a days sightseeing. The hotel menu was excellent and the food itself well-presented and delicious. We would like to offer our thanks to all the very helpful and friendly staff at The Muang Thong but in particular our appreciation to Mr. Noy who made our stay so special with his exceptional customer service and attention to detail. We hope to return soon!
Lovely hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was spacious and comfortable. Nice breakfast cooked to order. Easily walkable to the centre of town. Shuttle bus to the airport. Would highly recommend.
