The hotel is run by totally dull staff who have no interest in speaking or learning english, or giving service to customers. This in the midst of a very touristy hotspot. The staff understands not even the word 'towel'. The only thing they can say is; 'when you pay??', which makes you feel like a walking wallet. When you ask...

We are backpackers and looked at almost a dozen places before settling on a superior double at Thanaboun for one week. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Street noise didn't bother us even though it looked out over the main road. Wifi worked great for us. It is odd the shower head is only halfway up. Staff are indifferent...

We found Thanaboun when we arrived after deciding we didn’t want to stay in the accommodation we had booked. They had 1 superior double available which we took. Its window looked out over the main road which was nice and the noise from the street wasn’t too disturbing. It was large, clean and furnished with a 4 poster bed, dressing...

Came here for two nights after our previous hostel turned out to be bad. We got a nice room, very clean, with aircon and fan. The bed was very comfy and the water hot. Service not friendly but we are getting used to that in laos! Price also a bit high but i get the feeling you really have to...

Nice clean spacious rooms. Comfy beds, TV, aircon. Location excellent. However very unhelpful at reception. Have to ask for room to be cleaned, new toilet paper, daily free water bottles etc. I rented a bicycle for 2 days in a row at what I thought was a daily rate but they did not care to tell me that if I...

We didn't stay here but we hired two bicycles in June 2014. The guy at the front desk was very rude and unhelpful when we picked the bikes up and when we returned them he snatched the lock keys from our hands, didn't speak or make eye contact. He was so rude that I felt compelled to tell him off,...

We have stayed 4 or 5 days in the ThanaBoun hotel. It's very well located in the main street and the rooms are clean and the one we stayed in was very big. I recommend the place. There is also a internet access at the information desk and they rent bycicles too.

After spending a night at a very overrated hostel on the outskirts of town, we searched the night market area for a new guesthouse. We only checked a couple places, but stopped when we found ThanaBoun. The walk-in rate was a reasonable $17 (a few dollars cheaper than the loud, slightly dirty guesthouse we were at previously). The manager was...

It is very centrally located and and only a block away from the night market and palace. We found it quiet in the back building but we extended a night and we had to move to the front building which was a little nosier (mainly from the hotel staff) but not too bad. In the back building we had the...

We stayed five nights here and it was ok, staff members are a little unfriendly and the bathroom did have quite a toxic smell every now and again (I think it comes from the shower drain). Evidently the smell was the reason why we found somewhere else to stay, as it did become quite unbearable. The positives are that the...

“I don't know what the other rooms are like, but my double room was upstairs and had a double (queen?) four-poster bed. The window also lets in natural light. I liked having cable TV and internet connection is good there.”
