Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean. House keeping was fantastic and cleaned our rooms every day. Good breakfast. Location was excellent, just a minutes walk from mandalay palace. Wifi great. Would definitely stay here again.
We arrived after a night bus and the staff and night manager were so helpful and friendly. Check in was quick and easy and the front desk was knowledgeable about what to do in Mandalay with the time we have (we only had 1 day to spend). The manager arranged a tuktuk for us the next day to show us major sites and everything went smoothly. After our long day travelling around mandalay, the same manager gave us a room that we could have a quick shower in before we checked out which we really appreciated. Rooms were cosy and had everything we needed. Great hotel!
Room was not the biggest, but comfortable enough and quiet so we were able to sleep very well. Brakfast is nice with good choise of food- from local to brad, butter and jam+lots of fresh fruit. The location is great, just across the palace and there is a small terrace on the top floor overlooking the palace and Manadalay hill in the distance. The staff was amazing!!! Very very friendly and helpful. I will definately choose the same hotel on my next trip to Mandalay!!
I travel a lot, and stay in seemingly countless hotels. I don’t believe that I’ve ever come across a hotel staff as attentive as those at the Sahara. They were perfect, there is no other word for it. The hotel itself also offers good value for money. The room that I had was spacious and quiet (I wasn’t at the front of the hotel). I’d asked for a double room, but was allocated a twin; this was not a problem for me. Breakfast had a small selection of hot foods, rarely the same two days running, as well as fruit, cake, and bread/toast. On one morning it seemed that too many people converged on the small dining area at the same time, and so a couple had to wait for a table to become free. It didn’t take long though. The tea and coffee making facilities in the room were fine, the air conditioning was efficient and not too noisy; I didn’t get to use the tv in the room. The hotel offer free bicycles for the use of guests. I didn’t use this facility though, I didn’t feel comfortable on the busy roads. I booked a tuktuk tour (three ancient cities) via the hotel, for $20. It was fair value, although the driver seemed to want to rush through the morning locations, before dropping you at a boat that would take you to the other side of a river, where you were on your own for 4 hours. There were things to do the other side, but it was effectively a bit of a tourist trap. If doing it again, I would want to spend longer at the morning pagodas etc, and minimal time (if any) the other side of the river. If you stay at this hotel, you won’t be disappointed. You will probably also want to check out Mingalabar restaurant, around a 20 minute walk, or $1 grab fare. …
We had a great stay here and would definitely recommend it. The team at the hotel were really friendly and helpful, providing us with a map and quick overview of the area when we arrived, which really set us up for our trip. They also helped us arrange transport a few times. Our room was very comfortable, spacious and quiet. Good WiFi and shower.
