I was blown away by how great this place was. Could not have asked for a better place to stay in Mandalay. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the home cooked breakfasts every morning were lovely. Also a fridge full of free cold water whenever you need.

..can't quite understand the negative reviews.. Our room was very clean and big, the wifi in our room worked good from time to time, otherwise we went to reception- there the connection was always good. The location is fine dor exploring in all directions and the nearby market always an experiance. Breakfast was ok- while you have breakfast the kids get ready for school :)

We didnt have a nice time with the rooms and cleaness... though the staff was very kind, the smell of the rooms was horrible. I would rather stay at downtown hotels, we switched to another hotel the second night at mandalay.

Nice staff, very efficient even if everyone doesn't speak english. Room large enough with big windows and almost no noise. Situation good enough to visit the city, with a very nice market right next to the hotel. We don't give the perfect rate, because of small things that could be avoided easily like cobwebs or broken toilets. No hot water.

This was recommended in my Lonely Planet guide, and not too far from where I'd disembarked from the ferry from Bagan. Welcome was ok, but not as friendly as other places I'd stayed at in Myanmar - no mention or sign of breakfast, but in fairness I didn't look for it or enquire. Quite a few power cuts, but guess that's out of their control. Room ok - I got one on the first floor with floor to ceiling windows (as mentioned in my guidebook). Good location - about 10 mins walk to the Royal Palace. Not bad, but not quite as good as I expected

Goodness knows how this place got a star from Lonely Planet because it's a hole, and the main reason why I didn't spend a second night in dusty, dirty Mandalay. My room was a hovel and located up several flights of stairs. Still, you'll meet a bunch of other backpackers here.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They rent out bicycles and arrange bus tickets. The location of the hotel is near a nice market. A fellow working at the hotel took us to a festival at the temple nearby, which was really nice!
