I only stayed at Ostello Bello for two days and one night. But it was a fantastic time there. And the friendly staff was definitely a big contribution. Especially Wai Yan and Angie were very helpful and an even better company over this time. I highly recommend this hostel to people who are on a low budget and/or who want to establish easily a contact to other travellers or locals.

I have been coming to Ostello Bello for around a year now as I love the staff and it used to be a really fun atmosphere. In recent months something seems to have changed. All the rules are stricter and the atmosphere just isn’t as fun. The old manager left at the beginning of the year and I think this change may have something to do with the new OB. The new negative atmosphere just isn’t as fun. Despite all this I do want to say that the staff there, Angie, Wai Yan, Cherry, Pho, and the Myanmar staff are amazing! They really are the best part of visiting OB!

It's a quite big and busy hostel, but you can easily socialize and staff is friendly and helpful. About the rooms: nothing fancy but there are lockers. Female dorm is a bit stuffy. The hostel can lend you PCs, free earplugs etc. There is a rooftop (quite expensive drinks but beer priced as everywhere). Breakfast: OK but compared to most places in Myanmar, it's not a lot of food... Overall good value for money!

Stayed here for 6 nights. We changed room 3 times due to their fluctuate room pricing. Weekends fare is more expensive than weekdays. On weekdays the private room can be as cheap as 2 dormbeds. It was inconvenient to keep moving rooms but if you are solo traveller you can stick with the 8 bed dorms. The electricity was on and off very often (more than 10x a day) but they have their own generator so you will always have power. It’s only effecting the AC and wifi. AC keeps turn on/off so it wasn’t very cold in the day time. Wifi keeps dropping on/off too. They need to improved the cleanliness too, the double room was fine, the twin room was but dirty with old linens and yellow old stained pillows. 8 bed dorms shower was small and need a removable shower head due to the low water pressure. Staffs are not as friendly as the staffs in Ostello Bello Bagan. Breakfast menu always changed toast, little bit of jam & butter, slice of watermelon and (tasteless fried rice/noodles/pancakes) and they serves cold undercooked scrambled egg all the time. We took the 3 Ancient Cities tour from them, it was ok and price is fair.

This is a big chain with all typical pros and cons you have with that. At the arrival they welcome you in an exagerated way that sounds so not genuine, and that's the main problem of such kind of hotel. The mood is very good with lot of information adapted for backpackers. But all interactions are completely not genuine and it is just part of the business they run. Pros: Good rooms, good breakfast, good bed. Air-cooling a little bit weak but ok. Restaurant ok but do not expect anything special. Cons: In our fist room air-cooling was doing so much noise that they had to change our room (from double bed to twin bed) and there was pidgeon pooh on the sofa. The second room has a kind of trap wich goes outside on a kind of dirty balcony, strange but not very good for isolation and noise. Breakfast basic but ok. On the rooftop almost everybody was smoking. It is also hard to socialize regarding the weird public staying there (search for bleach blonde girl Mandalay on Google). On ground floor music is running so loud that it is hard to talk each other. Overall the hostel is just a normal hostel with a huge layer of backpackping marketing which has just made our stay uncomfortable.
