We booked with a set budget for a pre Christmas sunshine break.
We arrived at 9.45pm and were met with blaring out come screaming Kareoke in the Reception area and questioned our decision to stay here .
It’s the same every evening, Kareoke / Bingo / Disco. The lovely reception area is the only place to sit in an evening “ to chill “ ,the hotel lacks that for sure.. That really in our opinion is the only negative
At reception ask if your room has a kettle because there isn’t one as standard. If you do get one you will only get Green / Lemon / Mint tea on the tray. They don’t have Coffee or Milk. You need to ask for Milk at the bar ( served in a paper cup ) and buy some Coffee at a local supermarket / shop. Also there is no safe in your room ,you need to hire one 20TD ( Turkish Dinar / £5.20) which is refundable .
Other than the above it’s a great place to stay, it’s clean, the staff work so hard and if you drop the waiters a couple of TD every now and again it’s appreciated and your drink of choice appears like magic at your table in the restaurant at evening meal.
The staff are really friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome.
Outside taxis are available at all times .Average price to SOUSSE ( 10 mins ) is 15TD ( £3.80 ) and depending if you want to haggle 20TD (£5.20) for a ( 15 mins ) drive to Port el Kantoui ( well worth 3-4 hours of your day )
The food is varied , traditional Tunisian fayre with a good choice along with many salad options.
Breakfast .Omlettes and fried eggs cooked to order ,cereals ,juices ; coffees and teas etc along with the usual continental fayre.and Tunisian fayre. Don’t expect Bacon or Pork sausages because it’s a Muslim country.
Lunch and Dinner are kind of the same but there is such a varied choice it really doesn’t matter.
Drinks are local beers and spirits so don’t expect too much .however the beer isn’t bad and the Coke is “ the real thing “
Rooms are great , there’s a huge TV in each room if you want to chill. It takes some getting used to but there a lot to watch in English ! If you have Netflix at home remember your password as it’s available.
The mattresses are perfect, thick and comfortable
The pool area is at the back with a poolside bar and a 3 minute walk sees you on a lovely white sandy beach with a beachside bar. Hower options are limited at the beach bar ( beer / soft drinks & Coffee only )
They are always cleaning and it’s noticeable.
Would I stay here again ? “ Absolutely YES “ 😀
family of 6 kids are teens / under a year. Stayed 2weeks in march
Good bits:
The hospitality here is like we've never had before. The staff cannot do enough for you. Our table was decorated two times for occasions (nice touch) food has a lovely variety and carter for all fussy eaters managed to eat. Yes sometimes they have to re use food but this is normal in all inclusive (it'll be in stews) the catering staff are pleasant and helpful.
Bar staff are top notch they don't let your glass run dry at all. Nourdine was amazing always made sure we're happy and engaged with the children and our baby.
Animation max chico and fufa were awesome always up for a laugh and trying their best to entertain all that was there. I think the hotel need to fund a bit more in their department to help out. But they are doing a great job.
Reception are nice people always smile with a wave and fatima the hotel rep manager is awesome always there to advise of things to do and also asking where the hotel can improve.
Beach is nice but fair few ciggy butts in the sand
The WiFi is awesome we took our firestick and that helped to watch the games ect.
Location was £1.50 taxi away from the madiana good bargains to be had if you can haggle.
Bad bits
Rooms need some modernising but we only put our heads down there as long as the are clean and not dangerous we are happy.
Outside hotel people pretending to be from the hotel with remember me ect, they are just trying to make a living just tell them you know all about it. They will leave you alone.
Spa people and excursion people just need a sturn no, from day one they never asked us again just friendly hellos
Alcohol is about as strong as a well done noodle
That's about it to be fair.
We will 100% be coming back and have told all family and friends about here. The standout for us was the service from all staff no issues from anyone.
We managed to go to el djem via local train 6 of us went viewed the roman monument that allows you to go to the museum also had food come back all for under £30in total!!
☆☆☆☆5☆☆☆☆
Rooms: 3/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5
Nearby activities

Walkability
We walked to the madiena about 9 times loved it but when you will struggle to go anywhere if your a wheelchair user

This hotel is advertised as 4 star but is more like 3 star at best. On arrival we were told to go to the dining room while we waited for our room to be ready. No one offered us a drink after our journey, orientated us to the hotel, showed us to the dining room or told us anything about what the hotel had to offer. We spent the first few days trying to find out what was going on and when.
The dining room is cavanous, loud and overwhelming when you have just arrived. The food is generally good and we accept that they are catering for a wide range of people from different countries and cultures. The labelling of the food is poor and we didn't know what a lot of the food was. As a vegetarian I needed to make sure I wasn't eating meat and lot of it I just couldn't tell. Like a lot of all inclusives the food was a little repetitive throughout our stay. It is a shame that there is not a speciality restaurant on site.
Once we were allocated our room we were a little shocked at the poor cleaning - dirty toilet pan, blood or faeces on the toilet tiles, general ground in dirt - and the standard of furniture. The grout in the bathroom was brown in places and paint was peeling off of all the furniture. The headboard was precarious and there were unidentified stains on the curtains. We complained and were promptly moved to another room which was marginally cleaner but the same shoddy standard of furniture. The second room did not lock from the inside and the balcony door did not lock.
We had booked as a couple with our 16 year old daughter expecting either two double beds or a double and a single. What we got was two single beds and a camp bed style bed added to the room. We were told that all the rooms were the same. From the number of campbeds and cots regularly lined up in the corridor I would guess that the rooms are all the same.
The advert said an iron was available so we didn't take a travel iron. There was certainly an iron - one for the whole hotel that had gone missing two weeks beforehand!!
The pool bar staff, life guards and cleaners at the pool were fantastic. It was a shame that not everyone was respectful of the pool. We regularly stood on clear plastic cups and plastic plates in the pool as kids were allowed to play with them in the pool. Younger kids were left to eat around the pool with popcorn and pancake going into the pool. Smokers were not given a specific area to sit or smoke and the level of smoking around the pool was overwhelming.
Overall, the staff work so hard and are proud of the job they are doing. They are let down by the general upkeep and management of the hotel.
Positives: maitre de Ahmed Benaz was really helpful, my little girl has gluten and egg allergy and every meal he checked she was catered for and asked if we needed anything else.
Aneesa on reception is very knowledgeable, patient and helpful when we were booking activities and sight seeing. She explained in detail and answered all our questions.
Female waitresses very kind, helpful and attentive & treat ALL customers with equal care & respect. They work so hard and I hope they get the recognition they deserve.
Negatives: male waiters will hold tables for people who have tipped them, watch out for this trick they place a phone or a car key to show table is “occupied”.
The male waiters will hug the European customers (especially the women) in a very strange manner, you can tell the women are uncomfortable. They are clearly doing this for tips.
They are so busy fawning over the Europeans they dont see customers waiting to get a glass, napkin or soda. The waiters get annoyed if you ask for napkins or cutlery.
The cleaners in Tunisia are work shy (I have been here three times) there are one / two who do a thorough job. But at Marhaba Club they are the WORST. You have to beg for clean towels, clean bins and toilet roll. In the 7 nights they topped up shower gel ONCE. I brought my own but needed extra, we ended up buying our own toilet paper and hand wash as there was NO SOAP!
On one occasion I asked the cleaner, head cleaner and reception (3 conversations) about why my room was not cleaned it was past 4pm. No luck. I went and asked for the manager who sent the head cleaner to sort this. The cleaner came but still did not give correct number of towels and did not empty bathroom bin. Incredibly poor service, they will say “sorry madam” but actually they don't care.
Barmen: they do NOT know how to make a cup of tea. Milky warm water yes, but not tea. They seem to take offence to being asked for English tea.
Final poor point: This is not an all inclusive hotel as “snacks” are served by the pool / beach outside of lunch and evening meal so you have walk all the way there in the heat if you missed lunch. Other hotels have more convenient locations for accessing food if you miss lunch. The whole concept of a swim up pool bar is disgusting, more drink in the pool than in people’s stomachs. Children dropping food such as pancakes and plates in the pools. No regard for those will allergies.

Food.
A bright airy restaurant with buffet style, massive choice of food, including vegetarian and gluten free options.
Much is fresh cooked in front of you.
Every waiter works really hard and shows you to your table, brings you drinks and can't do enough for you. Our waiter was Salah, he was fabulous, find him and you will be well looked after.
Drinks.
The beautiful lobby area has many comfy sofas, and the lobby bar open til midnight serving cold beer, vodka, gin, whiskey, rum etc in proper glasses ( not plastic cups )
The pool.
No sunbed wars! Two attendants are around the pool area to give you towels for your sunbeds as you arrive, they will get you a parasol ( and put it up for you ). If you arrive late in the day and it's busy they will find sunbeds and move them to whoever you want to be , ie in full sun or in the shade, again these guys can't do enough for you and are so friendly.
Pool bar.
You can either swim up to the bar and sit in the pool while drinking at the bar, or you can just laze on the sunbed and the waiters are constantly walking around asking what you would like and bring it over to you. Don't be afraid to bring a mug from home and ask them for tea or coffee, as with all staff, nothing is too much trouble.
The rooms.
Ours was freshly decorated, with a huge bed, large flat screen TV so you can log in to your netflix account! Powerful shower, hairdryer, kettle and mugs and a fridge. Our room had a beautiful view of the pool and the sea in the distance, most importantly a great night's sleep as entertainment and bar close at midnight,so everything falls silent.
A fantastic 7 days, I can't really fault anything, but the staff are the standout feature, you're made to feel welcome by all of them and that's what really takes this hotel above and beyond.
We will be back next year ❤️

We had a pleasant stay overall despite a few flaws.
Good points :
- Location: the hotel is located in town, there are quite a few shops, restaurants, bars, right next to the hotel.
- the rooms: we had a sea view room on the top floor even though we had booked a standard room. The room was oriental, the bedding comfortable. No bottle of water available or courtesy tray, which is a shame.
- The beach and the swimming pool: both pleasant with plenty of deckchairs available.
- The catering: we ate well overall, the buffet is rather varied with Tunisian specialties at each meal. There is also a snack bar at the pool for snacks where the team makes popcorn, pancakes, etc. We did not get sick during our stay.
- the SPA: the massage was pleasant with a low price.
- entertainment: very good entertainment provided by a dynamic team close to vacationers! The evening shows are also very good.
Negative points :
- Cleanliness in general: the beach and swimming pool toilets are very dirty, the surroundings of the swimming pool and the deckchairs are dirty, and the worst being the restaurant where we are served on placemats that have barely been cleaned between each client. We regularly had to eat on uncleaned tables. On the other hand, our room, the bedding and the bathroom linen were clean.
- Lack of standard: no tablecloths in restaurants (dirty placemats instead), paper napkins, only 2 place settings for the entire meal (no spoon, just 1 knife and 1 fork). Drinks all served in cups at the bar (including cocktails). Very noisy restaurant, sometimes because of the loud music.
- The restaurant staff: some servers are not very pleasant, you have the impression of being a nuisance. From a certain time it is impossible to find a clean and set table to eat, you have to sit on a dirty table... The staff at the reception bar were not very pleasant either. On the other hand, the pool bar staff were very good! The same goes for the reception, the security guards, the cleaning ladies who were also pleasant.
- Towel service: never anyone, we ended up giving up and kept our pool towels for several days...
In summary it is a good hotel overall but if you are looking for calm or high standard you can find much better in mainland Tunisia.

Points +:
- A garden decorated with date palms and olive trees, maintained every morning
- The housekeepers are very respectful
- Having access to 2 outdoor swimming pools and 1 fairly deep indoor swimming pool, the slides are fun
- Evening entertainment for children
- The meals were varied, the Tunisian buffet was very good, large menu choice, tasty dish
- The room is quite large, with a good balcony
- The beach is very clean with good sanitary facilities and next to the hotel
- Some servers are very friendly
- Indoor swimming pool with good water temperature
Points -:
- The air conditioning in the room makes noise, there is no ventilation, the feeling of lack of air
- Overall poor management of servers in the room: When we arrive, the table is sometimes not set, to get a drink you have to wait or get it yourself, we sometimes even got up ourselves to look for cutlery and handkerchiefs. paper, the waiters are not very independent, it is necessary to call on them for even a glass of water, the labels of the dishes are not good, impossible to know when a table is reserved, no Tunisian pastries offered as dessert, no mint tea
- Evening entertainment is monotonous except the fakir show. They consist of broadcasting techno/rap type music at high volume. Even the “Tunisian folklore” show is good at the beginning but disappointing at the end with techno music that has nothing to do with Tunisia....
- The music is so loud that you can hear it from the room in the evening (windows closed)
- If you want to have a deckchair place, you have to get up early. The majority of customers monopolize them all day by leaving their towels even though this practice is supposed to be prohibited...
- The fruit juices made available have medicinal tastes, not at all natural, not much variety for non-alcoholic drinks (fanta, coca, coca zero, that's all), infusion tea, bad-tasting coffee
- At breakfast, you have to queue too long to get an omelette
- The fridge in the room does not work well
- The wifi is of very poor quality, impossible to watch a video in your room or swimming pool

The kitchen(restaurant) was excellent, with a wide variety of dishes, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout. Special thanks go to Aziz, a young waiter who stood out for his exceptional service and warm attitude. He was not only our best helper but also a great companion during our stay, always ensuring our table was well-maintained and providing service at the highest level. He will have a bright future, and we are sincerely grateful for his efforts🤍
The evening programs were enjoyable, although I noticed that many guests seemed to prefer something more active after dinner rather than karaoke. Personally, I would suggest adding themed discos with dim lighting to create a more relaxed atmosphere where people could let loose and fully enjoy themselves. The animation team was sociable and did a good job overall.
I must highlight the New Year’s celebration. If you are looking for unforgettable emotions, you will definitely get them here. It wasn’t just fantastic and spectacular—it was truly atmospheric and filled with festive spirit. The restaurant hosted an exquisite banquet with an impressive selection of food, including an array of fish and seafood that was simply breathtaking. The presentation of the dishes was outstanding, featuring a dessert table with a chocolate fountain and beautifully decorated tables with candles.
During the New Year’s Eve celebration, the hotel was buzzing like a hive, with plenty of guests. The evening program was vibrant and fun, with live music from Mejdi and his team, making it an unforgettable event.
Regarding the rooms, they were cleaned daily, with staff checking in to see if we needed anything. While the rooms could use a slight renovation, they were clean and comfortable for a short stay. The bar was open until late, with quick and efficient service. The airport transfer to and from the hotel was punctual and well-organized, ensuring everything ran smoothly.
I believe this hotel will be an excellent choice for a summer vacation by the sea and pool, and for the winter season, we can confidently say we have no regrets about choosing the Marhaba Club for a much-needed break and refreshment!
