Hotel is lovely. From cleaners to management all work tirelessly to make you feel welcomed and very special.
Food is great. Good selection for every taste. Good selection of drinks.
If you like English tea bring your own Yorkshire Tea bags as the black tea here is nowhere near what English tea tastes like! ***And also bring a bamboo cup and a small metal spoon as the cups are the small coffe ones and the small spoons are made of plastic.
Rooms are clean and although outdated they look beautiful with nice views and AC.
The pool looks great but they really need to enforce the towel rule as some people leave their towels on from previous night so by 7.30AM there is no available sun lounges.
There’s always sun lounges available on the beach 🏖️ and these are more comfortable as extra padding.
Beach towels available from reception.
There’s a big shopping mall just 15minutes drive away. Taxi is 20-30DN one way. Has cinema 🎦 and lots of places to eat and shop. Reception can call you a taxi.
The taxi drivers have been very nice and polite and always come back or waited for us.
Entertainment starts at 11AM by the pool then continues until midnight on the club by the beach so if you love music you’re going to really have a blast!
Spa - have not tried the spa but massages start from 70DN for 30mins which is a good price. They have lots of packages available and also do waxing and nails so ladies don’t need to worry if you did not have time to polish your holiday looks.
Gym - very outdated machines but they work. AC it’s ok but could be better. Lots of weights available. Indoor swimming pool looks lovely and clean.
family of 6 kids are teens / under a year. Stayed 2weeks in march
Good bits:
The hospitality here is like we've never had before. The staff cannot do enough for you. Our table was decorated two times for occasions (nice touch) food has a lovely variety and carter for all fussy eaters managed to eat. Yes sometimes they have to re use food but this is normal in all inclusive (it'll be in stews) the catering staff are pleasant and helpful.
Bar staff are top notch they don't let your glass run dry at all. Nourdine was amazing always made sure we're happy and engaged with the children and our baby.
Animation max chico and fufa were awesome always up for a laugh and trying their best to entertain all that was there. I think the hotel need to fund a bit more in their department to help out. But they are doing a great job.
Reception are nice people always smile with a wave and fatima the hotel rep manager is awesome always there to advise of things to do and also asking where the hotel can improve.
Beach is nice but fair few ciggy butts in the sand
The WiFi is awesome we took our firestick and that helped to watch the games ect.
Location was £1.50 taxi away from the madiana good bargains to be had if you can haggle.
Bad bits
Rooms need some modernising but we only put our heads down there as long as the are clean and not dangerous we are happy.
Outside hotel people pretending to be from the hotel with remember me ect, they are just trying to make a living just tell them you know all about it. They will leave you alone.
Spa people and excursion people just need a sturn no, from day one they never asked us again just friendly hellos
Alcohol is about as strong as a well done noodle
That's about it to be fair.
We will 100% be coming back and have told all family and friends about here. The standout for us was the service from all staff no issues from anyone.
We managed to go to el djem via local train 6 of us went viewed the roman monument that allows you to go to the museum also had food come back all for under £30in total!!
☆☆☆☆5☆☆☆☆
Rooms: 3/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5
Nearby activities
Get the train it's safe and the locals are helpful the staff speak good English, go to monister for 50p!
Walkability
We walked to the madiena about 9 times loved it but when you will struggle to go anywhere if your a wheelchair user
The staff are friendly.
The food is not brill but you always find something from chips to pasta to salad, fruit bread etc. I did manage to eat something but not the best food I have had the drinks and provided in small glasses like less than half a pint on your table. The drinks through the day in the bar/ pool bar and beach bar are all served in small paper cups regardless of eweather its pop juice beer or coffee. A taller plastic cup may have been better. The sister Hotel occidental seems much more updated and modern. There is a free cash machine in this hotel and a small supermarket. You can use this hotels pool but not there pol bar I wasn't looked with my wristband for the marhaba club. I used the spa and had a good massage and full body hammam for 200 TDA which was about 56 English pound.
You can ask for bottled water from the bar in reception for your room.
The beach is nice and the sunbed are free its is exclusive for guest to rhis hotel only., there are activities from jet ski, paragliding etc on the beachand the ll inclusive bar is on the beach too. The animation team around the pool always tried to get you involved.
Overall the break was nice as I went on my own I was looking for a nice relaxing break and that's what I got.
The evening entertainment doesn't start till 21.30 and one of the nights it's went on till around 3am the loud music I managed to drop to sleep though. I felt safe whilst in this country but then again i only stayed in the hotel grounds if you want to change money in the hotel you have to do this by cash i just found it easier to ho to the bank machine at the hotel next door. Dont change a lot as you have to spend it all or give it away as you cant take it out of the country due to it being closed currency. The weather and the end of sept ws lovely in the 30s. Transfer time was around 40 mins from airport.
The reception staff is mostly polite, the cleanliness leaves much to be desired.
The food is good, but if you don't go when the restaurant opens, you risk not eating.
Drinks are served in disposable glasses and if you want water in the room you have to ask at the reception bar.
The terrace with 4 tables, a bit small for so many tourists, we had to sit on the curbs, stairs and wherever we could.
The pool is ok, the beach is the same, but if you want to walk in the evening, unfortunately you can't because it's closed
The hottest animation team
The lobby bar was the only place to get any type of spirit drink, the pool, beach & Neptune bars only served beer, wine, soft drinks & tea/coffee. The drinks are served in wine glass size glasses and paper cups meaning there were often queues at the bar as people were going back for more. The hotel offered snacks for a couple of hours at the lobby bar only.
The dining room again was very basic & the food very repetitive although I would recommend the fresh doughnuts for breakfast & the pizza man would cook pizza to order for us for lunch time. Real spoons were like gold dust & apparently for soup only, tiny plastic spoons are available for ice cream – no sauce or sprinkles though.
The pool area is quite nice & it was obvious that some repair work was going on which is to be expected after the hotel being closed for such a long time. We had read that the pool has “jacuzzi corners” but we are yet to find them.
The animation team are brilliant, they offer you the chance to participate without being pushy. During the day it’s the usual aqua aerobics, darts, archery, water polo etc. but at night there are different performances & games. Twice weekly the three hotels in the chain come together for a big nightly performance, this is the only time that you can get a drink at the other hotels which we found a bit strange as you can use the facilities at the other hotels all day.
All in all we had a good holiday & the hotel did their best to resolve the few problem we had.
This hotel is advertised as 4 star but is more like 3 star at best. On arrival we were told to go to the dining room while we waited for our room to be ready. No one offered us a drink after our journey, orientated us to the hotel, showed us to the dining room or told us anything about what the hotel had to offer. We spent the first few days trying to find out what was going on and when.
The dining room is cavanous, loud and overwhelming when you have just arrived. The food is generally good and we accept that they are catering for a wide range of people from different countries and cultures. The labelling of the food is poor and we didn't know what a lot of the food was. As a vegetarian I needed to make sure I wasn't eating meat and lot of it I just couldn't tell. Like a lot of all inclusives the food was a little repetitive throughout our stay. It is a shame that there is not a speciality restaurant on site.
Once we were allocated our room we were a little shocked at the poor cleaning - dirty toilet pan, blood or faeces on the toilet tiles, general ground in dirt - and the standard of furniture. The grout in the bathroom was brown in places and paint was peeling off of all the furniture. The headboard was precarious and there were unidentified stains on the curtains. We complained and were promptly moved to another room which was marginally cleaner but the same shoddy standard of furniture. The second room did not lock from the inside and the balcony door did not lock.
We had booked as a couple with our 16 year old daughter expecting either two double beds or a double and a single. What we got was two single beds and a camp bed style bed added to the room. We were told that all the rooms were the same. From the number of campbeds and cots regularly lined up in the corridor I would guess that the rooms are all the same.
The advert said an iron was available so we didn't take a travel iron. There was certainly an iron - one for the whole hotel that had gone missing two weeks beforehand!!
The pool bar staff, life guards and cleaners at the pool were fantastic. It was a shame that not everyone was respectful of the pool. We regularly stood on clear plastic cups and plastic plates in the pool as kids were allowed to play with them in the pool. Younger kids were left to eat around the pool with popcorn and pancake going into the pool. Smokers were not given a specific area to sit or smoke and the level of smoking around the pool was overwhelming.
Overall, the staff work so hard and are proud of the job they are doing. They are let down by the general upkeep and management of the hotel.
