Not my first time in Sousse, but my first visit to the Royal Jinene.
Be aware there are two hotels very close together, the Jinene is set back slightly from the coast with the Royal Jinene having the slightly better views and location. I stayed at the Royal Jinene the other part was still closed as were many other hotels in the area as it was very early in the season (For Tunisia)
The staff are amazing and will do anything to help. I mentioned my mattress was a bit hard and without asking they changed it for a softer one.
Bar and restaurant staff remember what you drink and will bring your preferred tipple over without being asked. I cannot praise the staff too highly.
The food was always well prepared and cooked, but it did get a little repetitive. That said there is a fantastic local eatery called "Big Ben" a few minutes walk away .....WELL worth a visit and ridiculously cheap too.
The only other criticism was my toilet didn't flush well. It was a problem they were aware of. Did it affect the quality of my holiday ...NO
I've rated this as 4 stars, get the toilet and food sorted and it will be 5 stars

It is good to visit Tunisia but the barrier lies in visiting the right place, the trip was good, and when the bus arrived at the hostel we had to get off and the place was crowded with cars (there is no designated place for bus parking).

The room is good and clean but the TV is rare antique , but for someone not interested in TV shows it might be fine.

The drinks are inside the bar but you may wait too long for the waiter to come out of the service room as he is busy with something else, there is no waiter asking you what you want to drink. In the Entertainment Square in the evening, you have to walk a long distance for some people like me (200 meters) for bring a drink and at that time you miss half the show, also the hotel allowed and is open to single men who do not live in it, and they take the time from morning to night drinking and opposite the women while they wait, who is the girl who will pass. Food is limited and not a clear dining program in all hotels is suspended. The workers really work hard, the entertainment runs from morning to night around the beach and the pool. You see them passing by and they ask you for a few moments. I think their number is limited (two people it's not enough I think I saw how much hard they work) so I think it's hard now to find a 5-star hostel that works with that number, yet they are thankful for their good work. But it is somewhat limited compared to the 3 and 4 stars hostel, and I think the reason is clear. The only animation program hanging by the door of the restaurant, but there is no water polo there. Also, the reception workers are grateful to find solutions to overcome the problems with the rooms and the cleanliness, but they are a little slow. This place is good for someone like me who have a companion with him guarding him but the people coming from outside they dont stop harassing the women..

Ok I returned yesterday and am going to do a totally honest review. Good points
Arrived and checked in was quick and easy hotel reception staff spoke great English and a bank for changing money there also even there lots of cash machine on the mean street.
Room if I say basic I mean basic really dated a tv bigger than my house but was ok didn't go to watch tv, beds were comfortable shower was always hot and room service lady was great . Ok pool area is ok we np getting a bed but come July when hotel is busy and there other part of hotel opens it b sunbed wars ,they need more bins around the pool. The beach is fine but again np getting a bed but July August I hate to try. The bar at the beach had a fridge that did cool drink so it was near gold no ice and remember the drink isn't good so bring ur own r buy in duty free at there airport honestly u will need to if u want something u like . The cocktails well let's say u get the same 1 no Matter what u ask 4 they make 2 but omg after a nite r 2 un drinkable wine I had rose but with some lemonade on a plus have coke and Fanta.
Ok food rite I really don't know we're to start let's say not for the uk people in any way breakfast mmmm ok a egg boiled chef made omelette every other morning but was raw in middle the toaster was a wee 2 slice thing definitely uk guests will struggle and kids .
Lunch and dinner dry chicken veal every nite dry fish rich salad really only catering for locals the soup I lived on with bread roll u can even get a glass wine with dinner u had bring it in from the bar worst food I ever seen and I not fussy eater in any way only nite there was some nice was a evening a local football team was stay o then it was different.
This hotel isn't really for uk holiday makers is definitely more for locals and unless they up there standard alot to cater for use uk guest we will not return.
Ok the staff they are amazing only for them it been horrible they go above and beyond ok a tip helps but same every were from cleaning staff bar staff reception and the entertainments 2 kimo and didi who work long hours still always smiling are holiday wouldn't been same we had nice time weather was great but never return to this hotel definitely pay little more and go else were

Arrived via EasyJet and their TTS transfer service and the travelling was absolutely brilliant, arrived in great time and was very pleased with the hotel on first arrival. The reception staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, connecting us to their Wi-Fi immediately stating that it was too expensive to use your own provider and to put your phone into Airplane mode, this has saved us a fortune as my internet was £5 per mb and £1 per minute for calls either way. Once a simple form was completed and the £10 tourist tax was paid we were shown the hotel room and then directly to the restaurant where we were greeted by even more smiling happy faces with very kind comments about our family. We felt like we were royalty, treated to table service for everything except the all you can eat fantastic choice buffet food. The food is great, the kids loved the choice, chicken, veal, fish, Turkey and more veg than you can eat, all beautifully cooked and nothing was wasted on our plates. The sweets and pudding selection was a little limited but it is January end of season so nothing to complain about to be honest as we paid very little for our holiday. Now the room had 4 single beds, air con, a sea view and was spotless, a little date but ver clean. The staff who cleaned were extra friendly providing towels and shampoo whenever you asked but there was plentiful amounts included every time they cleaned. All other staff and entertainment were brilliant, it was very quiet but they all still made a fantastic effort to make our holiday special.. I am still here writing this review and would have no hesitation in returning to this location with its private beach, beach bar and I have to mention the best indoor heated( yes heated to 31 degrees) pool I have had the pleasure of using. It is January so the outside pool was a bit cold for me but never the less available to use with its water slides and mini kids club outside. If you want a bargain holiday then this is for you and your family, it’s not the Hilton but the staff certainly make up for any shortcomings of the area or hotel. Highly recommended by me and my family xx thank you Royal Jinene and everyone that works hard there xx

Hello! My name is Andra and I came from Romania. I have been travelling around the world, and I have seen many places, stayed in different hotels. I know that people use to say unpleasant words about this hotel, but for me it was incredible regardind the money that I paid. The food was good, you can always go safe and eat turkey meat for lunch. For me it was the best I can get for the money that I paid.
The room was spacious, more beds ( 4) , big balcony, big bathroom and a spacious wardrobe. The ladies clean the room every day. I did not givee tips. My roomate gave 10 dinars in the beginning because she heard it is better, but they changed towels everytime I asked. If you want glamour go somewhere else, if yo want a quiet and peacefull vacation go here. Do not get fooled by the loby. Yes, it is old furniture, but the rooms are excellent, in the **** hotel. There is always way to improve, and they seem to make efforts. have a pleasant stay.
Anyway evertything is based on perception, so depends on your filters.
Andra

It was listed as 4* should be 2*.
Hotel would be lovely when built 2004 but no maintenance or upkeep has been done, now tired and dirty! Carpet in corridors but never hoovered.
No shampoo soap ect in room on arrival cleaning skipped completely one day. No Fridge or mini bar in room as advertised. Phone & hairdryer broken in room.
Food & drink terrible same food lunch and dinner time nearly every day only chips and potatoes swapped. Snack bar was just pizza everything else was not part of all inclusive deal. Food not hot no lids on to keep it warm, or prevent fly access, no variety, same for lunch and dinner everyday! Drinks basic no cocktails, no lemonade only cherry coke.
Only good thing was lovely beach but not many beds plenty broken or with no mattress. Same at pool area also not very clean.
Indoor pool closed no spa or gym available as advertised. Entertainment ok first week but then it was the same every 7days so boring if you are there for 2weeks as no change. Very limited signal on Wi-Fi took ages to send one wap message. Only one lift out of two worked one lift broken all time we were there.
Some off the staff were very nice and helped when they could in particular Hadi on the Bar & Ali in restaurant.
Had stomach flu for 13 days of holiday, sadly would not recommend and will never return.

PROS AND CONS:
Pros:
First of all, service was good, reception, cleaning staff, very kind and helpful people. DJ Kimu and bartender Manu are AMAZING. Good drinks and music made our holiday better. They are chatty and smiley - you just want to be at the bar. Music was amazing and we had a good dance there. Kimu is very friendly and he will tell you a lot of stuff about the region. To be honest - bartender and DJ are the nicest people in this hotel. I believe that they would do a good job on your own party. You can watch some footbal on the TV as well. Indoor swimming pool was lovely, warm and mostly empty so me and my other half had peaceful swim. Its was a good weather and we had some sunbathe next to outdoor swumming pool. In case of food in the hotel restaurant it was mostly good, the only thing is that food was usually cold. Then the kitchen staff (or manager) put a microwave next to the food. Room was warm and we slept peacefully, excluding one night when some people made a loud party at night.
Cons:
Rooms and all hotel need refurbishment, it needs painting, there are carpets in rooms that are not vacummed, a lot of dust everywhere, bins are not being changed, we didnt have anything to dry our towels or clothes, dirty fridge, dirty old bin in the toilet, dirty shower curtain, dirt under the beds, disgusting toilet brush, there were 4 beds in 2 people room.... why? No iron and ironing desk, no kettle, no glasses or mugs, teas or sugar.
Moreover, lifts in that hotel are jokes. Shows incorrect floors, buttons do not work, you will wait 10 minutes to get downstairs, dirty doors and broken mirrors. Manager of the restayrant just wanted to be tipped and we saw how he behaved. We had the same table all holidays in the restaurant, table cloth was not changed at all... no serviettes, you need to go and find them somewhere in the restaurant.
To sum up, i would come back if those issues would be resolved.
