Great and beautiful lake, looks like 4 shades of blue. Me and a couple friends was boating and camping and fishing. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets off of the most beautiful lake you'll ever see. My mom lives in Alden so it's pretty cool for me to stop in every so often.
Wow!! What can I say about this place that hasn’t been said before. Harvey and his sidekick dog Merlin were wonderful hosts. Harvey even greeted us wanting to carry our luggage which we refused. Very clean B&B and felt very very comfortable there. Harvey’s breakfast was wonderful and delicious. Each morning it was different. The best part staying there was talking to Harvey. What a nice host. We will be back and so should you!
Our stay for the first time at the Inn at Torch Lake exceeded our expectations. As has been said in most of these reviews, Harvey is a gracious, kind, and personable host, but in a quiet, unobtrusive manner. He offered us a glass of wine at check-in and assisted us with luggage. We stayed in the Torch Lake Room which is very spacious and has a kitchenette, dining table, fireplace, and a balcony. Harvey's breakfasts are amazing. This is no continental breakfast. It was more than we could eat and excellently prepared. Harvey also had great restaurant and activity recommendations to make our stay great. We rented a pontoon boat for the day on Torch Lake - not to be missed. We look forward to our next visit to the Inn at Torch Lake.
*Fabulous inn - spacious rooms - we had a family of four in the Elk Lake Room. One kid adored the spa tub. He luxuriated in it nightly after his hard days of play in the stunning Torch Lake. *Wonderful innkeeper - Harvey and his trusty sidekick Merlin. Harvey greeted us with a cold adult beverage upon arrival. Never a bad thing after a long day of travel. Harvey is extremely personable, has a real attention to detail and attended to, if not anticipated, all of our needs. Merlin is adorable and sweet. The kids got a kick out of sharing their gourmet breakfasts with him. *Harvey's breakfast are the absolute best! Delicious, fabulous and wonderful! *Inn is walking distance to the downtown area (ice cream and shopping for us), as well as the dock where you can watch the sun rise or set. We walked down nightly to watch the sun set and just sit together and enjoy. Harvey had a list of recommendations based on what experiences we were looking for and all were spot on! Everything he recommended was far better than I was able to research on my own. We throughly enjoyed our time on Torch Lake and the Inn. Harvey has a shop at the garden level of the inn. I purchased a Torch Lake sweatshirt that I wear weekly and smile. We have some of the best pictures from our time on Torch Lake. It was the relaxing family vacation we needed. I can not wait to return!…
We stay in B&Bs often, both in the US and abroad, and we found the Inn at Torch Lake to be top notch. In what appears to be a purpose-built five-room B&B, we had a great weekend stay. We had been in touch with Harvey before our arrival, so he was waiting for us when we arrived. We chose Lake Skegemog for our room, and were pleased. Comfortable king bed, a good shower and comfortable chairs. Harvey gave us two good dinner recommendations (Torch Lake Beer Co and Pearls, see separate reviews) and was attentive to our needs. He makes an awesome breakfast! One day the main feature was quiche, the second day French toast, but the accompaniments of fruit and fresh cinnamon rolls were to die for. Breakfast was served at 9, but on our second day, when we had a long drive ahead, he happily brought breakfast to us at 8:30. This is what a B&B experience should be like. Two slight improvements: 1) the room had lots of furniture, and could do with a little less and still be comfortable (and less crowded), 2) the inn should offer online booking. Most B&Bs these days allow you to book online, and it’s helpful to be able to see which rooms are available before emailing or calling. That would make booking much simpler. Nonetheless, the Inn at Torch Lake is a great choice.…
We spent three lovely nights at the Inn. The room was well appointed and beautifully decorated. Harvey is a gracious host and excellent cook. Our breakfast every morning was delicious, but the eggs Benedict were some of the best I’ve ever had. Alden is a nice small town with a few stores and restaurants which are all walkable from the Inn. The lake is also a short walk. There are plenty of things to keep you busy within a 15-30 minute drive. Hiking, golfing, Traverse City. Thanks, Harvey. We can’t wait until we can get back.
We stayed several days at this magnificent B&B. Inkeeper Harvey was the most hospitable host we've ever had. Our room was spacious, comfortable and CLEAN. The fresh-cooked breakfasts were sumptuous and filling enough to carry is to dinner. Co-owner Merlin is a very good boy who has mastered the art of tableside begging. Highly recommended.
I stayed at the Inn recently for 5 nights and it was absolutely the best place to stay near Torch Lake! Located just minutes of short walk to the lake, The Inn was nicely remodeled and tastefully decorated and fully furnished with high quality beddings, linens and towels. There are 4 rooms upstairs each has a fireplace, large shower, mini fridge, and very nice king bed and big comfy chairs. Two larger rooms even have jacuzzi! We stayed at the Bellaire Room which is much bigger than hotel room! The common area in the hallway has unlimited supplies of coffee and tea. The whole place is meticulously clean with attention to details. We enjoyed the high quality gourmet breakfasts cooked by the Innkeeper Harvey himself, who is such a wonderful, considerate, gentle and kind person, and taking such a great pride to make sure every detail is perfect! Coming from big city we were so happy to relax in this cozy yet comfortable place at amazingly affordable rate with unexpected quality amenities! Just can’t say enough praises about this beautiful place and we will definitely come back again next summer! Thank you Harvey for being a wonderful host and making our trip so enjoyable! By the way the clothing store Trendz that he owns has very artistic and tasteful clothings which I was surprised to find at a small town so I got myself into a happy shopping spree with the assistance of the beautiful Chinese lady Jiali who worked at the store! Thank you Jiali!…
The rooms are large, beautiful, and spotlessly clean. Very high quality mattress and linens. The rooms have balconies, great place to have breakfast or wine at the end of the day. Good walking trails out the door. The lake is down the street. Great to meet and chat with Harvey who is an excellent host who goes the extra mile - especially with the breakfast!
We throughly enjoyed our mother daughter weekend at the Inn at Torch Lake. The room was cozy and the breakfast was amazing. Harvey is very thoughtful and hospitable. Quaint Alden is on the beautiful Torch Lake.
