Just to be clear here I'm reviewing the restaurant, as I've never visited the hotel rooms. It's a lovely authentic place, one of the best steak places, exquisit plates and variety of alcohols. Recommend the fillet flambé as the chef lights it up in front of you, it's fun to watch and tastes great, accompanied with red wine. Prices are very reasonable. I only hope they stuck with their old classic menu. It was royal and special, recently they changed it to some cheap printed menu similar to take away places. Hope they get back to the old white hard copy that was written in fine french. They also have french very rare to find plates like escargots, and cuisses de grenouilles. Love it.

This hotel is probably the most 'in need of love' establishment I've seen in operation. It bears all the odes to yesteryear, including an old AM radio in the headboard that no longer works. I found the little quirks exciting but had I stayed any longer than one night, I would have been fiercely disappointed. The staff on the other hand were helpful and pleasant. While I paid for cheap accommodation, the service was five star.

When we checked in the employee at the front desk glared at us because I have 4 kids. He said I have to buy two bedrooms, when we were just staying at a hotel (Alexander The Great) and they welcomed us. He stated how two double beds will be enough. I told him this is never an issue I've been to over 20+ hotels and always stayed in a two double bed room. He refused to let us check in. I told him that he should respect customers in more professional way, and that I've never had this issue before and left with my kids. I couldn't even last in the dirty lobby with people smoking.

We went there today and got the last two rooms. Went we went upstairs to the rooms, they smelled mouldy and like pee. The beds were horrible and were stained, the carpet was damp in front of the bathroom and stank. The walls had paint peeling off them and had gross looking stains. I recommend skipping this dump, you couldn't pay me to stay in it.
