We stayed here during our journey through Romania. Very poor service, but good location.
Staff was apathetic, lazy and unpolite. Wi-fi did not work. Hotel management should eventually reconsider it's client policy. Could be interesting if you stay for one night or just to leave your luggage during one day (but take all valuable stuff with you).

I stayed one night at this hotel in April 2019 and chose it strictly for its location, which was close to the center where I had work. Apart from this, there’s not much to commend this hotel, stuck well in the past.

All the rooms are the same, two-person style basic place, with old and creaky furniture, so and so cleanliness, doors not fitting the frame, an empty fridge, a TV from the ‘90s, paper-thin bedding... you get the idea.

While the bathroom fixtures are sturdy and work, nobody gave any thought to the look of it (repairs with plaster sticking out are all over).

The reception staff are ok and the offers include breakfast, after a fashion: the communist-apron-dressed breakfast attendant comes over (about 15 minutes late) and takes your order from a menu (basic veg, bread, cheese, omelette etc.) with prices. You must calculate so that the ingredients of your breakfast do not go over the value of your coupon. Anything extra gets charged (both the coupon values and the prices are also stuck in the past, risibly low). Then more wait for the food itself.

All in all, apart from its location, this is such a carousel of shoddy and stuck in the past mentality that it is laughable. I would clearly recommend it to experience how Romania was in the ‘90s and before. Otherwise, don’t.

My girlfriend and I stayed two nights at the Capitol Hotel, and would like to warn would-be guests to avoid this hotel. It is terrible!

When we checked in, the manager and clerk tried to rip us off by not offering us an option to stay without (the overpriced) breakfast. Another clerk tried to inform us of the option, but the manager silenced her. Luckily, my girlfriend is fluent in Romanian and insisted that the nicer clerk speak. We were able to secure the cheaper rate ultimately, but when we checked out, our room had been "flagged" -- meaning the manager had to personally check us out. All we wanted was the option without breakfast! In short, the service was horribly discourteous.

The room itself was also poor. The carpet was shabby and worn, the bed uncomfortable, and the bathroom left you with a sneer on your face. The hotel itself also felt abandoned (common areas were left dark, and it felt like no one else was ever around). The only good thing that I can offer about this hotel is the fact that our room had a nice view facing the central park. That wasn't worth enough though to ever advise anyone to stay at this hotel.

There are many better lodging options available in Brasov. You'd be wise to avoid this hotel!

We stayed one night here on a tour of Romania. It was chosen for us - I'd likely not pick this place if I had the choice.

It wasn't an awful hotel but it was certainly average at best. The lobby constantly smelt like cigarettes for not good reason. Our room was on a higher floor and was very hot, despite the opening of the window during the night. Our bathroom never smelt great, something I'm sure was caused by old pipes. This place is really just basic.

Some good points to mention - the wifi worked well, and was free. Breakfast was extensive. And the location is pretty good - close to a main shopping street and very close walking distance to the town square.

Overall, this hotel is just dated and old. They've done very little to keep it up, and it basically is a 3 star property in a city full of better options (two of which were next door). I'd highly recommend shopping around and only booking if it's incredibly reasonable in value compared to other places..

Couple days ago I was on the business trip in Romania and stay one night in htl. Capitol in Brasov. This is old hotel, without air conditioner, three star, week breakfast, but in the center of Brasov - and that's main advantage. Beautiful park is just 10 meter, pedestrian zone also only
20 meter, with very nice restaurant and cafe, I haven't enough time to walking but Brasov is town with rich history and nice old building and museums' I hope that I'll come back and spent couple days, and enjoy.
Rooms is clean, bed OK and staff is very kind.

This hotel is fine for a lads holiday. Clean rooms, friendly staff, nice views of the city and comfortable beds. We stayed for a week and found it affordable and convenient.

I will say though, this hotel is not suitable for a romantic getaway, in fact if you're trying to woo a lass you're better off next door in the palace.

We stayed here during June 2007, and it was the one poor part of our stay in Brasov, which is a lovely city. We asked to change our room, because of the poor quality of the bathroom, which they did, without fuss, but the next one was not much better.

Breakfast was awful, but the location and the view were good. We wouldn't stay here again, though.

the topical communist time hotel huge lounge and reception, old elevators, old rooms, but still very clean and taken care of.
The breakfast is very poor even for Romania standards but in other hand the location is just perfect!! right in the center and next to the main food/nightlife street.

This hotel is outdated and in need of refurbishment and tlc. I stayed here with a school party I was leading and several of the rooms had things broken in them etc. The decor is out of date and there is no aircon which was not pleasant in the 35 degree heat when we went! The staff are friendly but lacking dynamism and don't seem particularly interested. On the upside it has a very central location just a couple of minutes walk fro the old town square [which is lovely]. Wifi was only in the communal areas.
