The Park Hotel offered everything you'd expect from a hotel of this type. Helpful reception desk & manager.... still getting used to UK visitors & English spoken at a more basic level. However, extremely keen to help & develop communication skills. We only took breakfast at the PHP, this was basic and plentiful. Hot food limited to scrambled eggs & bacon. Don't worry about the small Go-kart track, it is not noisy or intrusive. (I think it's for children so they're lower powered karts) We arrived late on the first night & they stopped by 22:00. There was no more activity for the rest of the week. Book a taxi via reception: they have a contract with a reputable company rather than one man band. Fares are very reasonable to local destinations & to airport. (4 star rating only due to limited breakfast range) We'd return to the Plovdiv & hotel again.…
As we had a bus to take us to the city centre and back, the location was good as it was quiet at night. The overall condition of the hotel is good though our room was very small, actually too small for two people. The toilet flush was running all the time and when it broke down, I had to fix it myself. But room and bathroom were very clean and our night was quiet. Breakfast variety and quality were modest, service at breakfast poor. The receptionists and especially the barman were friendly and helpful.
It's the second time we stayed at this hotel. Not in the centre but convenient when you are by car since it has its own parking and it is 5-10 minutes from the old city center by taxi. You'd better book the white edition rooms which are renovated. But still the old rooms are really spacious too. Staff is always kind and helpful, both at the reception, at the bar and at the restaurant. I strongly recommend asking the reception staff to book you a taxi whenever you need one because there are many "fake" taxi drivers that charge you even ten times up the true value. Breakfast is nice and the restaurant is a Greek one with nice food.
The rooms are old and well overheated - I guess the heating is on max and there is no way to regulate that! I tried to get a beer at 09:30 pm in the restaurant and they denied it - than I tried to get one at the bar but they ran out of local beer! Well, I would not complain when this hotel is somewhere out in a village, but we are just 4 minutes away from the city center! I resume that there are better places available for a similar rate! Please check carefully before you book this place because there is nothing nice in walking distance!
This is a well appointed, good looking and clean hotel , twin room was comfortable and well maintained. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided in the room and a mini bar ( useful for storing some fresh milk for the tea). Staff were friendly and prompt, my shower head developed a leak / fault and they had it replaced within ten minutes. Only thing that needs addressing over the next few months is the carpet in the breakfast area that is probably near the end of its life.
