Rooms are nice and commodious. New building across the hotel obscures the view to the town center. The courtyard in the middle of the hotel creates a nice atmosphere after a busy day. Only 20 minutes of walk to the Mother Teresa boulevard.

I write this as I sit in the garden of Hotel Afa enjoying the best macchiato after reading the last review posted for the hotel. I cannot emphasize more how condescending and offensive the review is and how much it signifies what is wrong with the Western society. The last sentence especially... There is nothing funny in seeing the staff with their families enjoying a cup of coffee. I repeat, nothing funny. I am an American coming to this hotel for over 10 years. Incidentally, I have never seen the staff sitting in the back garden with their families and kids. Never. Good weather or not. Yes, you frequently see the staff having coffee and a cigarette in the back yard but as soon as they see a guest coming in and if there are no free tables--which happens extremely rarely--they stand up and offer their place. Most importantly, as soon as they see a guest they jump up and rush to take an order and take care of the guest. As for the upgrades to the hotel, I agree, they are needed. However, one must also understand that this is how they keep their prices low and pay their staff. One also must understand that the hotel is in Kosovo and understand the business climate in the country and high levels of corruption. It is difficult for a family-owned business to compete with all that. One more comment, I am currently on a very long trip and did my laundry in many hotels along the way. I am sure frequent travelers understand how annoying that is. My undershirts were destroyed in London where at a four-star hotel my white undershirts were returned pink. My sweater was destroyed in Belgrade at a five-start hotel--it came back half the size. Here at the Afa, all my clothes are perfectly cleaned and pressed by Mrs. Hasa and are returned the same day smelling fresh and perfectly folded. The dry cleaning is done on the same day under the personal supervision of the front desk manager Driton or the owner himself. Can you ask for a more personal service? More humility on the part of some Western guests would pay off. Kosovo is still a country in transition recovering from the wounds of war. Agreeing that the hotel needs an update but understanding the situation they operate in I am giving it 5 stars. Giving them one star unfairly drives the overall score down. Be sensitive. Especially to the people who welcome you with such an enthusiastic hospitality.

The one & only reason I come back: staff!! Everybody is doing a wonderful job and doing everything to make guests feel home. Hospitality just great. Thank you very much, highly appreciated :-) :-) Great food and breakfast. Rooms clean. Since the past decades no renovation or modification throughout the entire hotel. Spooky rooms/ furniture. Fitness/Gym: extremely discusting and dangerous as well because of damaged equipment. 90% of all the equipment not working. Concerning sanatization, omg :-( :-( also no wastebasket, towels available. Garden: extremely nice garden but, unfortunately, very difficult to find a table when the weather is nice because tables are occupied from all the ignorant senior and junior mgrs sitting there with their spouses and kids, ridiculous.....but funny to see.

I spent only one night in Hotel AFA. The furniture and the curtains in the hotel make it look very dark. Maybe there are people who like it. I certainly did not. My room and a horrible smell. I complained about it and was told there is no alternative. Later when I had problems with the safe one staff member came to my room and also noticed the smell. Then he was able to find another small room for me. I really disliked the whole atmosphere. On the positiv side: breakfast was very good and they have a garden which is probably nice on warm evenings.

I usually stay at the hotel Afa when in Pristina. Good value place, 10 minutes walk into town. The restaurant is excellent. All fresh food and big portions! Lots of building work in the area, but didn't start too early.
