A fabulous boutique hotel in the Old city of Kotor, very easy to find and close to parking outside the city wall. Room 202 is very spacious and had a lovely little balcony. The room is almost completely sound proofed when the windows are closed guaranteeing a good sleep. Fantastic breakfast and very helpful and cheery staff. Highly recommended.
This hotel is in the heart of the old town. From arrival to when we left the service was impeccable. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. They booked taxi’s for us, made dinner reservations for us. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. You get platters of meats and cheese. They also bring you out homemade cheese pies. There is a bit of music at night but it was not that noticeable from our room. The rooms are pretty much soundproof. There are 2 bars nearby but they didn’t disturb us at all. I would 100% stay here again. It was amazing.
Very friendly and helpful staff...personable and great even to have a chat with them. Room was clean and had a nice charm to it, with the hotel located inside the Old Town. Have a terrace ontop but unfortunately was closed when we were there. Good AC in the room and definitely nice to come back to a cool room after a hot day touring Kotor. Breakfast included was very good and more than enough to get your day started. They made a great cup of cappuccino. Hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the bus station and taxis standing by at the north gate, which was a 2-3 minute walk. The staff, Ranko, Diana, Fedja and Bojan were extremely helpful and friendly...no task was too much to ask. Highly recommend this hotel if you want to be in the Old Town and experience warm hospitality. We had a great time there. …
What a beautiful hotel. We only stayed one night . Everything was just perfect. Our room was on the second floor.Beautifully designed and kitted out.We had 2 bathrooms a big sitting room and king-sized bed in the bedroom. The furniture was antique, the walls were stone. The Mimi bar was reasonable. So relaxing. Will definitely go back. Our breakfast was spot on.The service good.Thanx for everything from G&J Dickinson from England 😎
This hotel is charming and centrally located in old town. Ranko who took care of us at breakfast time is beyond nice. He almost makes up for the lack of sleep. We stayed in rooms 304 and 305 above a bar called Letrika that had the brilliant idea of setting up a dj outside thus turning the street into one nightclub. The music was so loud that the party felt like it was inside our rooms. We requested several times for our rooms to be moved but the hotel was booked up we were told. The party starts at 10:00pm and ends at 1:00am. This is an everyday occasion not subject to weekends only. This nearly ruined our vacation. It’s too bad that I have to leave a bad review based on this as the hotel is lovely with a wonderful staff. But I would not advise staying here if you plan to sleep before 1:00am nightly.…
Went to visit Montenegro for the first time with friends and stayed at this hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful and the food is amazing along with the staff. HOWEVER, there is a night club below our window and plays EXTREMELY loud music EVERY night from 10pm until 1AM. I felt like was in the middle of the club instead of 3 stories up. We repeatedly asked to be moved but we’re told there was no other rooms and there was nothing there staff could really do. It woke me up out of a deep sleep twice and didn’t allow one of my friends to sleep until 1AM every night because of the noise. I hate giving a bad review but this experience has tainted my view of this hotel. Probably won’t stay here again because of it
Loved everything about the hotel and its staff. Clean and comfortable room, spacious room washroom and a polite caring staff. Ranco and the rest of the team really look after their guests. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful place to stay
Excellent service and nice suites. Hippocampus is well located in the old town and our rooms were both suites and well appointed. The best part, however, is the very friendly manager and the roof terrace breakfast which was excellent. I would recommend the hotel Hippocampus.
The + The receptionist and housekeeper were friendly, available with a smile. The location is very central in the old town The view of the room; church and mountain. The - No internet for some rooms. The first night, I did not get the reserved room, they fixed after, but the damage is done. Double bed instead of double; I fell twice because the beds moved. All takes are broken, you are afraid to use them. The windows were broken, so you can not close them. Bar music until 1 am . . . (It's not the hotel's fault) but with some windows not broken and better soundproofing will be acceptable.
The Hippocampus is a great boutique hotel smack in the action of Kotor… Who can argue with being jammed into a walled city full of wonders and vibe? So what if Pierce Brosnan stayed in my room the month before…you think I’m going to name drop? There is action in every direction and I had fun walking through all the streets of tiny little Kotor, which for those that don’t know is a smaller less-busy version of Dubrovnik just an hour away over the Croatia border… Outside the walls is a nice port area with restaurants… And my personal favorite a running path straight up the mountain that leads to a fort, ideal for dramatic pictures! Those with moxy are ideal for Montenegro!
