Located close to the North Gate of old town Kotor. Parking was not included in the rate and was about a 7-8 minute walk from the hotel. Room was spacious and well appointed. Oddly enough, there were no room numbers on the hotel room doors so we had to try the key on different room doors on the floor before finding the right one. We saw another person staying on the same floor doing the same thing too when arriving. Shower was a bit awkward as there was nowhere to put toiletries and no door. Water splashed everywhere. Our room was located above a bar that played extremely loud music from around 8:00 until 11:30 at night, even though there were no patrons. We asked the front desk about it and they told us to call the local authorities. I don’t think the hotel was full but the receptionist didn’t even offer moving us to a quieter room. He just pointed out a phone number located on a handout in our room for “noise complaints.” We closed the window and the shutters but it was still very loud. Breakfast was table service and included coffee/tea, orange juice, meat/cheese plate, breads, and cooked to order eggs. There was a nice rooftop terrace where you could order drinks. It seemed to close early though, around 8.

Room Tip: Hotel is next to a bar that played extremely loud music. Ask for quieter room. There are no signs...

A fabulous boutique hotel in the Old city of Kotor, very easy to find and close to parking outside the city wall. Room 202 is very spacious and had a lovely little balcony. The room is almost completely sound proofed when the windows are closed guaranteeing a good sleep. Fantastic breakfast and very helpful and cheery staff. Highly recommended.

Very friendly and helpful staff...personable and great even to have a chat with them. Room was clean and had a nice charm to it, with the hotel located inside the Old Town. Have a terrace ontop but unfortunately was closed when we were there. Good AC in the room and definitely nice to come back to a cool room after a hot day touring Kotor. Breakfast included was very good and more than enough to get your day started. They made a great cup of cappuccino. Hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the bus station and taxis standing by at the north gate, which was a 2-3 minute walk. The staff, Ranko, Diana, Fedja and Bojan were extremely helpful and friendly...no task was too much to ask. Highly recommend this hotel if you want to be in the Old Town and experience warm hospitality. We had a great time there.

This hotel is charming and centrally located in old town. Ranko who took care of us at breakfast time is beyond nice. He almost makes up for the lack of sleep. We stayed in rooms 304 and 305 above a bar called Letrika that had the brilliant idea of setting up a dj outside thus turning the street into one nightclub. The music was so loud that the party felt like it was inside our rooms. We requested several times for our rooms to be moved but the hotel was booked up we were told. The party starts at 10:00pm and ends at 1:00am. This is an everyday occasion not subject to weekends only. This nearly ruined our vacation. It’s too bad that I have to leave a bad review based on this as the hotel is lovely with a wonderful staff. But I would not advise staying here if you plan to sleep before 1:00am nightly.

Nightclub in the street below the bedroom windows every night - NO mention of this on booking. NO mention of this on arrival at hotel. This is advertised as a boutique luxurious private living - none of this matters if you cannot sleep. Location seems great and there is no indication that a pop up nightclub will start every night. Hotel decor black and gold. Shower poor. Room safe not nailed to wall. Stone stairs have an awkward top step from one angle, making them dangerous and nothing is done to ensure this is made safe (even though I have now seen it on other reviews now). Even found the noise on a few reviews - this noise is just unfair to a hotel with sleeping guests.

Very expensive for strangely furnished room, like a cave. TVs do not work,
Internet is spotty a d frequently goes out.

Unnecessary amenities in the suite that do not in any way enhance comfort

Not even one little bottle of water offered for free.

I do not understand the good reviews

Excellent service and nice suites. Hippocampus is well located in the old town and our rooms were both suites and well appointed. The best part, however, is the very friendly manager and the roof terrace breakfast which was excellent. I would recommend the hotel Hippocampus.

We knew from the reviews this would be a terrific stay, and we were not disappointed. Spacious rooms, plenty of seating, fridge, unbelievable bathroom/shower. The breakfast was terrific, what you’d expect from a continental hotel…but made to order…and at check in we were asked if any food allergies should be considered when preparing our breakfast. The rooftop terrace provides a lovely view of the city and mountains; and when the rains began we could retire to the ground floor dining room.

And that’s where the real surprise emerged. Turns out the Hippocampus boasts a world class kitchen, and we enjoyed one of the best meals we’ve had in any European establishment. Everything taken from Montenegrin classics…beet salad, grilled calamari, and lamb braised in milk. All beautiful, and all positively delectable.

Perfect location in kotor old town. Easy access to everything .... the hotel is an old building and the room also renovated but needs some improvements (tv/cables repeatedly stopped, no telephone in rooms, old bed sheets, etc). Clean rooms but the bathroom is relatively small and no privacy (the separation is done by transparent glass)... we paid around 170 eur per night. The breakfast was good but it gets boring at some point since it's the same every day. ( either international or continental breakfasts). Staff polite and helpful. The rooftop restaurant was good and food tasty too. To try.

This hotel is in the heart of the old town. From arrival to when we left the service was impeccable. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. They booked taxi’s for us, made dinner reservations for us. Nothing was too much trouble.

The room was beautiful and very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. You get platters of meats and cheese. They also bring you out homemade cheese pies.

There is a bit of music at night but it was not that noticeable from our room. The rooms are pretty much soundproof. There are 2 bars nearby but they didn’t disturb us at all.

I would 100% stay here again. It was amazing.
