Volter (Voltaire) may not be right in the heart of things but it makes up for this with bags of character. This is actually the sister hotel of Nton, and it opened in 2004 due to the continuing popularity of the former. Volter is in fact located two and a half kilometres northeast of the city centre. It has 31 rooms, from singles to suites, yet all come with satellite TV, phone and internet connection.

For a 3 star hotel, I did not expect a full comfort hotel. I suppose, not sure, it should be a renovation of a 30-40 years old modern office building to a hotel. As an architect, I can say that, I did not see a hotel like this one. The decoration of the rooms are very kitsch. I wish the contractor/investor should effort his budget to the comfort of the hotel, instead of the useless gypsum arches. The beds cables(?) was playing guitar and we could not sleep. The bathroom sanitary, electrical equipment, the doors, furnitures look very cheap and seem to be transported from an older social-housing construction. There is no hair-drying, no cattle. You can hear the next door voices inside. In some rooms, there are irregular cross-aligned columns that should be for the reinforcement of the frame. On the other hand, receptionists are helpful. They changed our rooms after the claim. They call taxi for city-center with normal price. Because taxi drivers ask twice for tourists in the center. The location of the hotel is not very far from the center, far for wailking, but there is no rail or bus-stop around.

We stayed at Volter Hotel for 2 nights which was not our choice but the first step of a tour we joined... Our room was Standard deLuxe type with very interesting, shiny wall decoration consisting of traditional flower designs. The looking of the corridors were intriguing maybe because of the material and dark colors they used for the doors and walls... It reminded me the first James Bond films... The house keeping personnel was really attentive and nice. Coming to minuses... The hotel management positioned Volter Hotel as a business hotel but also many of the tour operators uses the same for tourist groups which is not so preferable for tourists. Because it is really far from the center. The second minus was its breakfast. The breakfast room is incredibly small and also the food they serve is not good. Setting aside the food the most importing thing in the morning; Coffee and Tea were also terrible. I hope the management team can solve these problems...

Volter Hotel is located like 6 or 7 stops ( by bus ) to the city centre which is quite nearby I could say. It is a big hotel , outside the hotel looks a modern building however inside decoration and the rooms and hall are is like real old Russian architecture. there are 2 or 3 elevators and one is really small but not a big problem there is a main bus stop across the street so if you like to experience the public busses ( which maybe quite crowd ) just ask to go to the centre or Opera, 6 or 7 stops to the hotel I love Lviv it is the best modern European city of Ukraine I would love to stay again if I ever visit again Lviv wi-fi is free but the service area are limited esp. in rooms

From my point of view, it's not the best choice for a traveller because of the distance from the centre. I'm pretty sure there are options closer to the centre for the same price. Otherwise, it's ok. If you take a taxi, it's no problem. You can also get there easily by bus during the day. But in the night taxi will be your only option. Breakfast is very nice. The standard room is not big but is clean, so are the bathroom and the towels. A/C and free toiletries.

It was a "Teacher development winter school" organized by British Council. We stayed for a week. I am absolutely pleased by the conference service, the room, the food and the room service. The stuff and the director were very positive and helpful. I would advise this Hotel for everyone who visits Lviv in business or in private.

This hotel is a decent distance from the centre. 20- mins on Tram 6 and a 10 minute walk.... its not an issue, really The room was large - but that was it. Bathroom had the bare essentials - some towels and (very basic) toiletries. It was also in dire need of a good clean (much grime around the edges). The TV worked - but badly (I thought I was done with "snowy" tv reception in 2016) ... cable TV ? Rubbish, this had 8 channels. The fridge required "surgery" to get it to function. Overall... value, I really enjoyed the breakfast - stale bread aside (however it may not be to the taste of those whose wont is continental or English) ... I'd have enjoyed it more if the aircon had been remotely adequate. It was like eating in a hothouse. Actually, the aircon in the whole hotel was poor. As for the staff, they werent rude, werent pleasant ... just seemed disinterested, an attitude of "Oh well, if you must". Would I return? Well Lviv is a fabulous place and the closer to the centre you stay - the better. If there was no-where else then I'd chance a return and hope that they'd fixed the aircon and at least cleaned the room. I can live with disinterested staff

We stayed several times in this hotel when visiting Lviv, the previous stay was on 26-29 of March 2016. In this hotel you will find comfortable rooms with high ceiling and normal size bath. The prices are absolutely affordable. The food in restaurant is delicious (a specially tasty pancakes with cottage cheese and fruits, big variety of soups). I would like to notice a very warm and friendly stuff people in hotel and bar. Location is a little bit far from downtown (by Lviv distance) but you can easily reach the center square by any of many buses in 15-20 min.

I was in Lviv for a teachers conference from 16-23 January. When you first approach Volter Hotel it can seem a little old and dated. DON'T let that fool you. While the older parts of the hotel are some what small, the newer parts are great. The first room that we had was pretty small, but I wasn't going to complain, especially after a 16 hour train ride to get there LOL However on our second day we got switched to a different room and it was GREAT, tons of room, great bed, The staff worked like crazy to take care of all of the teachers there, Since I speak very little Ukranian or Russian the staff really had to be patient with me, and they were VERY patient. The ladies in the cafe were always pleasant to talk to and the guys were great helping me to find things I was looking for. The front desk folks were great as well, especially when I would wander down in the middle of the night to find hot water,

The room is very good, spacious and very warm (it was up to -15C outside). The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly. The location is very advantageous: the bus stop is just opposite the hotel, it's about 10-15 minutes to the city centre and a public bus leaves every 1-2 minutes.
