To start with a positive note: the lovely beach is just across the road (but be sure to get the key for the entrance gate) and the old town is about 15-20 minutes walk away The rooms are basic economy style and mine had badly stained carpet. On another positive note the plumbing worked. The staff in reception and the restaurant were unfriendly and unhelpful to the point of rudeness at times. The only smiling chamber maid was the one who bought my missing towels and then explained in detail what they were used for. Then there was the food. It was almost uniformly of poor quality. We had a group dinner and breakfast and the only memorable item was a chocolate square as part of the dessert selection. The service was all buffet which does not lend itself the quality eating but this was bland greasy and mostly just warm. But we did not get food poisoning. There must be other hotels in the vicinity that offer a better experience than Kolovare

Fine location. Plenty to see and do in walking distance. Lovely service at poolside bar. Delicious and diverse buffet breakfast. Good sunbeds always available when needed. Adjacent tennis courts easy to book. Good value bar with big menu and portions.

Stayed here for almost a week and I must say I made the right choice ;) Its location is superb! This is one of the very few good hotels right across the popular Kolovare beach and only 15mins walking distance to the old town. Also about 15mins to the airport by car. Very convenient. The hotel has a spacious lobby area with cosy sofas and a bar. Very comfortable setting for anyone to just hang around if need. Check in was easy and staffs were generally pretty friendly and helpful. Double room was good with a queen bed, small side table and bathtub! It has a balcony with a small chair and table. The railing came in handy for drying clothings and towels especially after every swim! Make sure get a room with pool/sea view! Pool is awesome (salt water though) with many deck chairs provided. However, you MUST reserve them early by placing a towel on it as they got snatched away very quickly. Perhaps some sort of system to manage that would be good. People usually reserve for entire day despite them not at the pool physically they whole time. Beach is amazing. Just short walk across from the hotel back gate. It’s pebble beach so do come prepared with wet shoes. Breakfast was okay with some varieties (exact same stuff though everyday) but food quality needs to be improved. The hall indeed looked like a canteen filled with plastic chairs and tables. It feels like a boring place catered to big group. (Management should really improve this as there were way too many comments about this). Housekeeping standard was not consistent. Room make up service by the morning shift was shockingly terrible the first few days (see photo) with sheets not tucked in properly and pillows simply thrown in. But it got better after several days (perhaps change of team). Room service food was surprisingly not bad and also reasonably priced. Keep it up!

Whilst this hotel looks like ex soviet era from the outside the inside is lovely! Reception is welcoming, modern and clean. We were upgraded which was a lovely surprise. We had a double room with a lounge area which was modern, clean and comfortable. Full bathroom which was great! The staff were very friendly and attentive . Breakfast - huge selection on offer everything was lovely. Only downside - people leaving their towels and clearly leaving the pool area so seems to be a shortage of available beds. Maybe staff members could look at removing them. Great location just 12 minute walk to the Old Town. Great price too. We will definitely stay here again when we are back in Zadar. Recommend the Fontana pizzeria over the road for lunch - great location and good prices. Also recommend the 4 Kantuna restaurant in the Old Town - excellent food, service and nicely priced.

Not a 4 star hotel, more like a 3. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, pillows lumpy and cheap filled, cheap toiletries. Very poor breakfast, the food quality was terrible, coffee terrible, cheap juice, cardboard food. The pool area could do with an uplift, rough parts to the paving near the pool. Reception staff unhelpful, more interested in siting on their mobile phones, they don’t look up! On a positive note the location is great for the beach and a walk into the old town, but that’s it!

Large free car park. Agree it looks a little dated from the outside but I’m not buying the place so no issues. The reception is very nice and great fast friendly service. The room was like new with enough room for us and a ok sized bathroom. The balcony was of a really good size and great for drying swim ware. The pool (salt water) has free towels and food / drink service if needed. Where flip flops or foot ware as they get a little sandy around the pool area but the pool is a decent size with shower next to it. We used it a lot over the 2 night as the beach was packed. The hotel has a secure back gate to get to the beach or walk into town. 10 / 15 mins from the sun set hot spot and good food locally. We ate breakfast both days and they have a large chose to cover most people. It was perfect for two nights and a pleasant stay.

A grand entrance hall upon arrival. Rooms small but obviously refurbished recently. Not much space for luggage. Shower over bath and bath quite high to climb into if elderly. Small balcony enclosed with ceramic grid. Swimming pool area was pleasant. Back gate to beach (get key code from reception) and from there about 15 minute walk to the city walls. Dining area was industrial chic meets school hall. Food ok but not much choice for vegetarians. Breakfast was better though. Slight confusion about bill and how it was charged for meal. We found Zadar to be very pleasant and well worth a visit. Do not miss seeing/hearing the sea organ.

The room I had was adequate for my requirements, the hotel is in a great position in a quieter part of the city but near enough to walk to all the sights and the hospital which in my case was imperative.

Visited for one night in January( low season). The outside of the hotel looks “ sketchy”but as you enter you see a grand main floor and all is great. We got the upgraded room that has been re done snd I must say, I was very disappointed. The room is large with a sitting area and balcony. Balcony is old but I’m sure appreciated in the summer. The bathroom is tiny and was not renovated. The breakfast was basic and probably the worst in the whole 2 weeks trip. Basic is how I would describe it The staff at front desk were very friendly. Unfortunately for the price paid, would not stay again. This is a low 4 star accommodation North American standards
