The Royal Palm Hotel garners praise for its ample amenities, including various pools and rooms with sea views, set within immaculately kept grounds, though some guests suggest improvements in breakfast management. The hotel's cleanliness and modern atmosphere, with a serene rooftop bar and infinity pool, consistently impress guests.
While the prime location offers stunning scenery and convenience, visitors should be prepared for the high cost of dining and activities. Service is commended for staff friendliness and professionalism, despite occasional slow restaurant service.

Always a warm welcome from reception staff throughout our stay but upon initial arrival for the sake of a few minutes a proper induction on where the amenities are across the whole resort would have been helpful.
Location is fantastic with stunning views and sunsets across the bays from the rocks or the rooftop pool bar. It’s also only a great 1km boardwalk into central Lapad or a further 4km to Piele gate in the old town. Best of all is the bus terminal 100m away with buses running every ten mins making it so easy to pop in & out of Lapad the port or the old town.
Our luxury king room with balcony was spacious & contemporary with a really comfortable huge bed. All rooms and corridors were spotlessly clean. The complex location and ambience meant it was very quiet peaceful and relaxing. No individual iron or board though and the one from reception was on its last legs. A capsule coffee machine would be an improvement especially when the instant packets were not refilled twice.
Gym & spa was well equipped but the floor and matting in gym was never cleaned/mopped during the first 4 days at least. Also not sure some guests & children?? understand the zen of a spa for other users. Having the only free water fountain in the gyms too often meant it was left empty. Soap in make showers also empty. Is it really too much to ask for a plumbed in water fountain?
We stayed half board and found the buffet eating options to be a varied plentiful choice. However some of the staff in the restaurants are hit and miss some really helpful others seem to run in the opposite direction & disappear if asked anything. Not sure the La Castile a la carte is a high enough difference to justify a 20% discount and having on one coffee machine at breakfast with one member of staff leads to bottleneck failure and does not inspire me the standard of restaurant generally is representative of a five star complex. Vista looks amazing but was sky’s empty and we were put off by La Castile.
Drinks especially cocktails were expensive and only the simple ones such as negroni or aperol were authentic. The blue island iced tea is truly horrendous.
So in summary
Would I return or recommend YES absolutely without hesitation !! but I’m a little more savvy to some of the little things that could make a massive difference and make it a true five star feel.

We stayed in a Family Suite with a balcony. The rooms offers plenty of space with inter-connecting rooms, a lounge and 3 bathrooms. You are also able to use all the facilities across the 5 hotels in resort which meant access to 6 pools, a spa and a number of restaurants and bars. The resort is also the start of the baordwalk into town which is a pleasant 15 min walk along the coast which passes a few bars and restaurants. Breakfast was included which was ok, not the best and often service can be slow. Old town is a 10 min drive away where you can an Uber which is usually cheaper than calling a taxi from the hotel and there seemed to be plenty available. Overall a good hotel in a quiet location close to all the amenities you would need on a holiday.

We booked a luxury king room with balcony and sea view, and boy did it deliver. The view was absolutely beautiful, the bed was really comfortable. and the bathroom was very spacious with L’occitane toiletries. The staff are all lovely. We were on the half board option and we ate in a restaurant just a very short stroll along the promenade where the food was excellent with lots of choice and the staff were great. From here the sunsets are just amazing. Breakfast was in the restaurant attached to the hotel and again had lots of choice and beautiful views from the outside dining room. There are six swimming pools that you can use but we were disappointed to see that some guests still found it necessary to put their towels on the sun beds before going to breakfast. The bus stop to Dubrovnik has previously been described as being outside the hotel but it is a short walk away.
Our only negative about the hotel is lack of information. The receptionists were always willing to help but there is no information in the rooms as to meal times etc. They are given to you verbally at check in and I wrote them down on the map of the resort that we were given, which is very tiny and hard to read, but there are larger ones along the resort. There are options at breakfast that we weren’t told about. We spotted a waiter delivering eggs Benedict and he told us that we could have them. We believe there were other options but the buffet was so good that we didn’t explore them any further. We were leaving the hotel late afternoon but were only told when asking if we could leave our cases for the day that we could use all the hotels’ facilities, including the showers in the spa, until we needed to leave.
We were booked with Jet2 and were told that their information would be found on a board or in a book in reception. Having looked in other receptions we couldn’t find anything but upon asking, found that the book was kept under the reception counter.
Finally a word of warning about Jet2 pick up. We were told it would be between 16.55 and 17.25. Having literally just got out of the shower and reclaimed our luggage to put our swimming things in, the driver arrived at 16.20. We wondered if he would have gone without us had we not been back at the hotel.

We stayed at the Royal Palm in late August. First of all the room and the view from the balcony were stunning. The hotel staff at reception were friendly and some of the pools were lovely. But how on earth a 5 star hotel can have this kind of breakfast is beyond me. Dirty tables, very few waiting staff to clean them, a free for all buffet, stale croissants, broken coffee machines and flies in all of the toppings at the eggs/crepe station. It once took me 15 minutes to find a clean spoon after asking several members of staff for one. It also baffles me that the price varies so much between all of the Royal hotels on the same resort when everybody gets exactly the same access to all of the pools and breakfast is in the same building for the entire resort. Having to get up at 8am every morning to reserve a sun bed at one of our preferred pools is not what you expect from a 5 star hotel. Excellent rooms, excellent views but breakfast is not up to standard.

This hotel was five star and lived up to our expectations. It provided a tranquil 10 day stay, just what we needed. The room was comfortable and spacious, and cleaned daily. Dressing gowns and slippers were provided along with tea and coffee making facilities.
The staff were always polite and friendly, with special thanks to Antoni for his warm welcome, and assistance during our stay.
We took advantage of the couples massage in the Royal Spa (at additional cost) which was amazing thanks to Andrea and Ana, and also spent a pleasant afternoon at the Rooftop Pool and Bar at the nearby The Royal Blue Hotel.
Plenty of sunloungers and parasols around all the pools, with pool towels provided free of charge. There is also various terraced seating both in the shade and in the sun.
We ventured along the promenade connecting all the hotels in the chain to the district of Lapad where there were numerous cafe/bars/ restaurants as well as a supermarket and pharmacy, about a 20 minute stroll with great views of the Adriatic.
The Royal Palm is approximately ten minutes in a taxi to the Old Town, and Uber is recommended as the most competitively priced. See my other reviews of places to eat/visit whilst in Dubrovnik.
I would recommend "On the Rocks" Cocktail Bar (opposite the hotel) as a good place for an evening drink, with great sea view until sunset and with a good mix of tables and chairs or sofas. Bar meals are also available. This place had a great vibe.
"The Bistro" offered table service both inside and outside around the hotel/pool.
"Il Castile" was the setting for the resorts breakfast and evening meal. We had only booked breakfast, and there was a good selection of hot and cold food options. I disagree with some of the other Trip Adviser reviews stating that the breakfast was boring and repetitive. In my opinion it is those guests that need to ring the changes and not eat the same breakfast everyday when there are so many combinations to take advantage off - cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, variety of breads and spreads, cheeses, cooked vegetables, eggs, bacon and sausages, as well as the made to order omelettes with a variety of fillings.
Brave Royal Palm! You have done yourselves proud.
We would highly recommend the Royal Palm and would consider staying here again,

This place is amazing, beautiful and super nice. The rooms were beautiful (we stayed in adjoining rooms with panoramic views of the sea). Breath taking. Possibly the nicest views from a hotel balcony ever. Food was delicious and service was good. Go earlier in the morning to beat the rush. Service at the front reception area was top notch from setting up airport transports, cabs to old town, dinner ressies etc. Gym and spa were nice and clean. And the pools both indoor and outdoor were clean. Entrance to the sea was a little dangerous but views amazing. P.s. water shoes are helpful but according to locals only tourists wear them :). Overall the experience at this hotel was top notch 5/5 and we loved it so much we left our hotel in Split (3 hrs away) 1 day early to return to this hotel. We loved it that much. We would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates beautiful hotels who provide phenomenal service to its guests. Kudos to Ivo our driver as he recommended the best restaurants n places to visit during our stay. Thank you Royal Palm staff!

Dubrovnik is plain boring after 4 days touring it. Get to see old town with a guide, eat at the Panorama restaurant and take sunset boat. Then leave.
The Dubrovniks are slowly learning the art of hospitality after a traumatic and brutal war, but have a 'genuine good sense of humour. They adore you for watching Game of Thrones but assume you will then pay for poor, overpriced, cooking in the old town. (28 euros for sea bass PLUS salad etc is outrageous for a sea port, and take a magnifying glass to find the filling on a pizza)
However, the Royal (which royal - Richard the Lionheart?!) Palm had an excellent well furnished modern suite with Adriatic south facing terrace.
Staff in the hotel restaurants was unsupervised and so will whip your crockery and food off your table as you get up for coffee! Go to the adjacent related Princess hotel for spacious buffet breakfast and the unrelated nearby President hotel for better dinner menu.
Customer and room service at Palm is excellent but general impression in restaurants is that despite its 5 stars you are tourist cattle who will accept tepid food. Also, quite often buffet trays are left empty and not promptly resupplied ( that would change with better supervision).
Swimming pool perfect so long as people obey the quiet sign. ( could do with lawns nearby ) Gym is well stocked but so dated that St Blaise must have used it.
Two words of warning. This is not a walking kiddy hotel and there is no information in the rooms about things to do in town or about the little known small covered shopping arcade and snackbars within 100m on the site of an adjacent VAST hotel complex. So, no need to run the gauntlet of restaurant hawkers promoting overpriced food on the promenade to Lapad or a taxi.

The hotel offers spacious, beautifully appointed rooms with stunning seaside views, creating a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
However, the breakfast experience was somewhat disappointing. The dining area felt overcrowded, and the size of the restaurant seemed insufficient to accommodate the number of guests comfortably.
It would have been better if they had divided the breakfast service across two restaurants given the hotel's capacity.
The pool area was well-maintained and pleasant, though slightly undersized for a hotel of this magnitude, especially considering its five-star rating.

The location is unique, sea view from the rooms is wonderful. But that's it!
Breakfast is free for all at the buffet, no staff managing the situation and showing you to a clean table , food is poor and often finished. 2 coffee machines for hundreds of people (a third one always broken), this is totally unacceptable.
We asked for room service to avoid the breakfast mess, and it came 1 hour and a half later...NO WAY. This is not a 5 star service AT ALL.
Staff at the Bono bar is unable to manage orders, it takes more then 1 hour to have a sandwich with a beer..
The sun bed situation is not the best having to reserve a bed with a towel before breakfast...
My general comment is that the hotel is understaffed and lacking supervision.

I booked this hotel for my husbands birthday as a special surprise.
The hotel is in a beautiful location and our room was overlooking the sea, so all we could hear was the waves. It was so tranquil.
Staff were pleasant and friendly.
Bedroom was spacious and comfortable.
But it does not have the feel or service of a five star hotel.
Breakfast buffet was very limited and did not vary over 7 days.
There was no bedroom turn down service.
There was no pool service supplying towels or drinks
Service in the restaurants was desperately slow.
The evening buffet was appalling
Prices in the bar and restaurant were really expensive - we had lunch and drinks in The Dubrovnik Excelsior and it was cheaper- and it was 5 star in every respect.
So, over all it’s definitely 4 star.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us for your husband’s special birthday celebration. We're pleased that you enjoyed our beautiful location, your tranquil sea view, and the spacious, comfortable room. It’s also wonderful to hear that you found our staff pleasant and friendly. However, we're truly sorry that the overall experience did not meet your expectations of a five-star stay. Your feedback about the breakfast variety, restaurant service, and other aspects such as the absence of pool and turn-down services is very valuable. We will certainly review these areas with the team to ensure improvements are made. While we regret that your experience was not what you anticipated, we hope you will consider staying with us again in the future, so we have the chance to provide a better experience.
