We had an executive room with a sea view and it was just what we needed. What a view! Sat wit my feet up or on the balcony for hours just reading and looking. Great day trips with super drivers with lots of local knowledge; we went 4 different places. Was really better than the week long tour which we had booked separately through another company. Obviously the city itself was great, including walking the wall. Location of the hotel couldn't have been better. Staff, including Orsat, were great. Only failure was poor beer selection. For a country known for great beer, they said they were out of dark beers. Unfortunate for me.
I like this hotel…. No you don’t have the sea view of the other 5 star hotels in Dubrovnik. But you do get great staff, a very comfortable and quiet room (I stayed in an executive room) and a great breakfast. The location is right next to the old city (very useful)… for those wanting to spend time by the sea, I’d recommend using the Coral beach club - 10 mins away by taxi… I would certainly return.
Friends of ours had recently visited Dubrovnik and said we should really go to see it. They recommended we stay at the Hilton due to its location. They were right about that. It’s located right outside of the fort wall away from the crowds. Trust me you do not want to stay in an Airbnb or hotel within the fortress walls. There were so many stairways and steps within the city that you have to climb to reach your lodging destination and we saw so many frustrated people hulling luggage through small allies and up stairs. The Hilton is a beautiful property with a lot of history . Although we are Hilton Honors members we made our reservation through American Express because of the 5xs points. When we checked in on Sept 10 th the front desk was very welcoming and when they handed us the key to the room they informed us we would be staying in the annex building across the motor court. At first we were a bit upset but we said let’s just go and see the room. Upon entry it felt a bit more like a condominium building then a hotel but when we entered the room 289 we were quite surprised. We had one of the few rooms with a balcony and everything in the room looked brand new. We had a large tree and some houses that looked they were quite lovely many years ago. And also a view up the hill side looking at the Imperial Fort Napoleon had built. We found our balcony very cool and relaxing so we decided we would stay in the room. After we were settled in I walked into the bathroom which had white tile floors and I started to notice long black hairs . I know they weren’t my husbands or mine because we both are bald. Upon further inspection of the floor in the rooms we noticed more long black hairs. I took some photos (see attached) and decided that when we were going out I would stop at the front desk to inform the manager on duty about the hair. I believe her name was Martina. This was around 5:30-6 pm and I had shown her the photo I took. I politely explained what we found and her response was “ what would you like me to do about it?) which took me by surprise. I would have though her response would have been “ I will send someone right up to re clean the room. My answer to her was “ please have someone come up and re clean the floors” and she said she would send up a chamber maid to do that. We were out the remainder of the evening and didn’t think much about it anymore because Martina said the chamber maid would re clean the room. On the morning of Sept. 11 we woke up and started noticing long black hair appearing on the floor and rug. I didn’t feel like dealing with the situation again and so I used tissue paper to pick it up and put it in the trash can. Once again we had the hair issue on Sept. 13th around 6:30 pm after we showered. My husband was drying off and he noticed long black hair laying in the tub around his feet. We shook his towel out and the dry one which would have been mine. Sure enough hair was falling off of both of them. Once again I cleaned it up and because we had dinner reservations I didn’t want to go to the front desk to deal with it. The following morning when we were checking out I explained what had happened to the front desk clerk and his response was “ I’m terribly sorry ,I hope you weren’t I convenienced” Not only did the bath towels have hair in them, they were stiff and scratchy. I’ve stayed in many Hilton hotels and these were not luxury towels. The toilet tissue was just as bad. It felt like you were dragging sand paper on your bottom. The breakfast was very good as was the attentive wait staff. Over all I would recommend this hotel but I do think they to make improvements in these areas I mentioned.…
Spent 5 nights here and felt right at home. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet and the best location around. The area is totally safe and clean and the staff is super helpful. Plus, you can get your Covid test on site! I highly recommend this wonderful hotel.
Wonderful staff, superior room, amazing view, wonderful breakfast/brunch and perfect location. We will forget the cost but never the memories! Would stay there again without hesitation. Thanks also to Jan, the Concierge, who made our return COVID test so easy, and to Stela for her pre-arrival help!
