Detailed Reviews
This hotel is situated in a great location (Lapad) that has great amenities all around and within easy walking distance. Some good bars that offer happy hour and you can have a large beer for 20 Kuna -cheapest I could find.
The hotel itself is on a hill and the rooms are rather dated. There are no tea/coffee making facilities which is a shame. We had a double room (second floor) and had to push the beds together. The room was cleaned daily by a lovely maid who was always chatty and friendly.
The meals where eaten at the restaurant across the road and were all buffet style. This was plentiful but not always hot and the biggest issue was at the evening meal you had to pay for water.

Room was spacious as was the bath but missed having a magnifying mirror and the soap dispenser in the shower was broken. No padding under carpet but the view was lovely and we enjoyed having a nice balcony overlooking the water and pool. In spite of the few issues mentioned above, the room/hotel was lovey and we had more than ample storage/closet space. Had a nice breakfast buffet with indoor/outdoor dining. There were several inviting areas to have cocktails. We were able to walk to many restaurants. According to one of our taxi drivers this is one of the nicest areas of the city but not walking distance to the Old City/city wall.

The Hotel Adriatic at Masarykov put 9, Lapad, Dubrovnik is a bit of a mix but, on balance, it is difficult to speak ill of the place, especially when considered alongside the cost of any stay. That said, the hotel itself was clearly built during Soviet times, and features many of the dubious charms of the utilitarian concepts and designs of that era, particularly their building material of choice – concrete.
We, six chaps, went to celebrate a birthday in the sun where we could combine a bit of history and culture with a decent beer or twenty – and frankly had an excellent time doing so. We just used the place as a crash pad and, as such, it did a splendid job! The staff were great, friendly and helpful at all times, especially the lady delivering the beers, day and night. This may have been helped by the fact that although we did enjoy all we consumed we were not the raucous type it could be seen the hotel may well attract at times – but our beer fuelled revelry is not what this review is about – it’s the Hotel Adriatic which counts.
The hotel boasts it is only fifty metres from the beach and offers a gym, clay tennis court, and air-conditioned rooms with satellite TV. The rooms are of a reasonable size, although this is not to be read as large, have adequate en-suites with a decent working shower and no problems with hot water. Whilst the daily room cleaning could not be faulted regrettably the furnishings are – I believe ‘dated’ is the correct word, but still serviceable, as they will doubtless remain for some years to come. Free Wi-Fi appeared available throughout public areas and an internet station was available, albeit at an extra charge. Those booking should definitely go for the rooms at the front with a sea view. They may cost a little extra initially but are well worth the minor additional outlay, as the rear facing rooms simply look out at a brick wall or a bunch of poorly trained triffids.
Quite obviously the higher any guest manages to park themselves the quieter the room and the better the view, but be warned – there is no lift (elevator for those who struggle with proper English), so if you are a jelly-belly packing a lot of weight or carrying a large number of bags you will grunt with the exertion or, if you take a woman with you they will whine incessantly about the stairs. Surprisingly we know nothing of the gym or tennis courts (Really? you may well ask), but the rooms did have air-conditioning, some better than others, and there was satellite TV – although the satellite dish does not appear to point to any form of recognised satellite, which means the Sputnik download times seem excessive for the twenty-first century. This however matters not a jot, as the hotel’s location pushes any such minor drawbacks into utter insignificance.
UNESCO-protected Dubrovnik Old Town itself really is a jewel on the Adriatic, and well worth taking the time to thoroughly explore at a very leisurely pace. The Hotel Adriatic has a bus stop immediately in front which takes passengers on the four to five kilometre journey right to the gates of the old walled city in approximately ten minutes for the price of a handful of peanuts. The service runs from early in the morning until well gone midnight and is clean, comfortable, reliable and highly efficient.
Lapad Bay, the setting of the hotel, features the remains of a pine forest, the fragrance of which can be caught on the light sea breeze and wafted across the terrace to the front of the hotel, providing an interesting treat for the sensors of the olfactory clefts. This is especially the case in the early evening for those seated on the terrace watching as the sun sinks majestically into the sea behind a headland on the far side of the bay.
Crossing the road in the direction of the beach is the hotels large open characterless restaurant. Here guests can pick almost any table they choose – so long as it is not one of those reserved for the police, who seem to spend rather a lot of time in there laying down the lard, presumably as part of some form of well-co-ordinated payoff. It is impossible to comment on anything but breakfast, as we resisted the ridiculous idea to tempt fate further! The breakfast provided is also twentieth century soviet, with an interesting little twist, in that they provide their interpretation of a continental breakfast – and who said the communists did not possess a sense of humour? It is food, of sorts, but not as we know it! Personally I’m always suspicious of any food outlet which provides soup in a basket or can somehow manage to burn water. The rubberised, factory finished, scrambled egg held little appeal, nor did the – well I’ll use the term sausages, though I’ve not the faintest idea what they really were. These dollops of dubious delight alternated for prime menu position on a daily basis with rashers of streaky bacon (or for you North Americans for whom the English language remains problematic – that’s Canadian bacon – presumably derived from Canada 1 and Canada 2), generally served cold with extra grease. Mmmmm – yummy! Umm – not!
On then to the ‘beach’. This consists of a pebbled area which, when stretching credibility to breaking point, can only laughingly ever be considered a beach – and even then it’s a tremendous struggle! During soviet times – yep, the pesky little beggars keep cropping up – the shoreline of what is now ‘the beach’ had a huge concrete slap poured over it, presumably to anchor it in place, and the pebbles were added to transform the concrete wilderness into a ‘beach’ of sorts. So a concrete beach with oh-so-comfortable pebbles. Here clannish Russian tourists tend to congregate in large extended family packs, in every way resembling over-wintering Emperor Penguins, as they shuffle to and fro en masse, their females squawking as loudly as their chicks, sorry, offspring, whilst the males stand as erect as their shortened legs will allow in an attempt to create their own Iron Man persona.
On the concrete beach there is a large slide into the water, built presumably as a feature to enhance the overall enjoyment of the noisy sun-worshipping beach goers. This too is concrete, and its surface would take the hide off a case hardened aged bull rhinoceros, so is not now used, even by Russian Iron Men – although it may well provide a congregating point for potential suicides. There is however a decent snack bar on the ‘beach’ serving drinks and light refreshments – to be taken away or consumed at modern tables under the cover of sweeping sunshades. There are also sun-beds, interesting looking cumbersome hardwood affairs Noah presumably abandoned when building the Ark, but still available for rent at an exorbitant price of somewhere around ten Euro’s a day. Interestingly they have plenty available for rent at any one time – but then try and site one between those Russian mothers regurgitating fish for their young! Worry not, help is at hand. A five minute easy stroll provides access to Lapad with its modern restaurants, cafés and complex of shops, as well as a reasonably sized shopping centre.
So, to sum up – whilst the ‘beach’ would benefit from a tactical nuclear strike, the breakfast upgraded to gruel and the hotel a refurbishment and décor makeover, that pretty much sums up the downside. The upside generally greatly outweighs this. It should be remembered this is a two star hotel. It’s one hundred and fifty plus rooms are available at a budget price and its proximity to Dubrovnik and its airport makes access easy to all. The location really is very good, the staff ever helpful and Lapad offers a great deal in its own right.
Therefore the acid test has to be – would any of us consider a stay there again? Without question every one of us! We had a great time, one all would wish to repeat!
There is however one last word of warning for those taking or hiring a car there. The hotel advertises it provides free parking and, if pushed hard enough, will actually do so. However the ‘free’ parking across the road is monopolised by car hire companies. Once a car has been hired and driven out of the space it is immediately filled with another, thereby denying any return. In front of the hotel, between one of its retaining walls and the bus stop there are three parking spaces, which to all intents and purposes appears part of the hotel. Despite other cars parking there it is officially part of the bus stop and any tourist or car hire vehicle parked there will be removed by a tow truck promptly and taken to the police pound. The release fee is some seventy five Euro’s, payable in cash only. Those at the hotel are most sympathetic and helpful, but it does beg the question – Why has no sign ever been erected? The answer has to be someone at the hotel must be on the take. Our hire car disappeared within fifteen minutes of us getting on a bus, far to close a call to be coincidental! You have been warned!

Normally I write a review at the end of our stay but only half way through our holiday myself and my husband and honestly cannot rate this hotel enough.
We arrived 2 and bit hours late , just after midnight but the reception staff were extremely welcoming , friendly and helpful.
We were the lucky ones and got an upgraded room to a superior double with ocean view and wow the room , amenities and the view were definitely beyond a 4 star hotel .
Fridge filled with cold drinks , kettle and various teas and coffees , super king bed ,all toiletries, towels , flannels even a hair dryer full sky TV and all high quality.
All the staff from hotel reception, shop staff, bar staff and tui onsite staff are one of the most helpful and friendly staff I ever experienced and all will have a Friday chat and smiles when you see them .
Now the food .. hats off to the chef and the catering staff , the food is phenomenal especially for buffet style.
You'd think you were in a top class restaurant with So much variety and we'll just can't explain how good it is but you don't want to stop eating.
Would 1000% recommend this hotel and will be coming back .

I visited Hotel Adriatic for 7 nights (26.8.-2.9.2015) with my boyfriend and we enjoyed our stay very much. I have no idea why people here write so negative comments about this hotel because it´s just what to be expected from a 2-star hotel! If you really think about what 2 stars means, this hotel is more than enough to fulfill those expectations.
We arrived on August 26th at about 8:30 pm. Check in was quick and easy, passports were taken for registration and they explained that we can get them later, after they have done the registration for us. No problems there and we could see our passports in the locker all the time. Our room (334) was on the third floor, 67 steps away from the reception (we knew that and it was fine, 2 young and fit travelers had no difficulties what so ever). The room was a double with balcony and sea view and it was really good, not big but big enough, the balcony was great and the view fantastic! The air-con was quite loud but it did it´s job even though the room temp was around 26-27°C throughout our whole stay (it was about 30-32°C outside). The bathroom was clean and good sized with shower, mirror and sink. The only defect was that the shower head holder was broken and didn´t stay up, so we had to keep the shower head in our hands while showering (that´s easily reparable, hotel maintenance hallo!). In the room there was also a closet for clothes, table and chair, TV and mirror. The bed was comfortable, sheets and towels changed daily. Very good hotel room all in all, although the fitted carpet is old-fashioned and not good for a hotel in a moist environment, but that´s what it is. Good place to sleep in, absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel.
The breakfast was served from 7 to 10 am every morning, buffet style. The breakfast was great including different breads (at least 5 different sorts), lots of different cold cuts, cheeses, sweet cakes and croissants, fruits (watermelon, apples, kiwis, plums on different days), fruit salad, yogurts, cereal (plain corn flakes and chocolate ones) and muesli, scrambled eggs and sausage/bacon/wiener, coffee machine (black coffee, coffee with milk, cappuccino, hot chocolate, hot milk and strong versions of all coffees) and juices (apple, orange and cherry). More than enough I´d say. There´s also evening buffet available from 7 to 9 pm but we didn´t go so no comments on that one.
The hotel is easy to find from the airport: take an airport bus (Atlas, 40 kunas one way) to Pile Gate (busy street near the Old city) and then take a bus no. 4 to the hotel. Easy and quick. The way back to the airport from the hotel isn´t that easy so we decided to take a taxi right from the hotel to the airport. It cost 250 kunas (about 33 euros) from 2 persons, not expensive when you think about the distance (24 km, 20-40 min depending on the traffic) and much more convenient with heavy luggages.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Adriatic. The reception staff was fine, some more polite than others but answered all our questions right away. Great room, very good breakfast and nice surroundings (pebble beach on the other side of the road, great views and nice clear water). If you are a traveler with budget and use the room for sleeping and showering, this is a very good deal. There´s a busy street in a 100 meter distance from the hotel with different restaurants so no need to starve either. 2 crocery stores (Tommy Hipermarket and Studenac) near and a walking trail starting from the beach area to the hotel area just by the ocean: incredible. Hotel Adriatic is way better than the reviews here say, believe me!

We booked a Game of Thrones deal through Wowcher which included a 3hr tour of the old town, flights and hotel. We weren't expecting top end stuff but we were more than disappointed with the hotel.
Upon arrival the manager (Bit of a Basil Fawlty type) ignored us for around 15-20 minutes and carried on shouting down the phone. He didn't even acknowledge us. So we awkwardly hung around until he finished.
When he finally came off the phone he informed us our room was not ready and we had to wait until two. This wasn't so much of a problem as we could explore the area a bit and grab a drink.
We came back at the given time and were promptly ignored again. At this stage my lungs started to get a bit wheezy and I pulled out my inhalers. To this he makes some odd statement then informs me they're fully booked and we're on the top floor.
After that he takes our passports (which I found kind of worrying) and hands us our key, breakfast pass paper and points us up the stairs (after a few awful attempts at humor). Heading up the stairs (this took a while because of my lungs) we spot several stains all over the carpets and a bottle of beer on the side.
The actual room itself was a state. A smiley face almost on the floor where someone had attempted to bleach a stain. No actual ceiling in the bathroom and the insides of the building exposed but worst of all, our "room with a view of the gardens" turned out to be a view of our room for the dog walkers and the children using the public footpath.
We barely managed any sleep either. The room was overly hot and the A/C was terribly noisy, my feet hung off the bed because it was just too short for me and every morning we were woken by next doors alarm going off. Thankfully the err... shall we say noisy couple... were on another floor and we only heard them in passing!
The bar had minimal service but the bar lady was nice and polite. My partner at one stage did go down to find the manager screaming and shouting at her in an aggressive manner.
Breakfast was across the road in the restaurant which we didn't mind as it's nice to go for a bit of a wander. Food was bare basic and the staff there were like prison guards watching your every move.
The hotel offer a 24hr bus travel card which I went to buy and the manager told me it was at a discount especially for me... Turns out he gave me two single tickets instead of two 24hr tickets which caused a lot of aggro when we finally managed to squeeze past the hordes pushing to get on the bus only to find we had to squeeze back out again to purchase more tickets.
Upon checking out we were yet again ignored as he was on the phone and he allowed people to push in front of us (this seemed to be the theme of the weekend).
We're not entirely sure what the breakdown of the price of the holiday was but I can't imagine much of our £340 (each) went on the hotel.
I would recommend the area as it's beautiful and quiet (well we went at the beginning of season) but this so called 3 star hotel is a bit of a shambles.
We did have photos but my camera unfortunately broke so only have the one from my phone

Dear Madam / Sir, Hotel Adriatic is a 2 stars hotel and it has a great location in the middle of all interest zones. It is great for the guests whose priority is historical visit to Dubrovnik and do not want to stay in luxury hotels. While constantly investing in equipment and staff, we are expecting an increased number of satisfied guests who are looking forward to beautiful Dubrovnik and Mediterranean surroundings. Best regards, Boris Barilar Hotel Manager

We arrived half ten to the hotel and we asked if he could suggest a place to eat...(did not happen). Unpolite, he took our passport without an explanation, so we were very confused. The room was acceptable but the cleanliness was terrible. The bathroom had the sanitation strip on the toilet and it was filthy. The only positive thing was the date time receptionist. In conclusion don't go there.

Dear Madam / Sir, Thank you for your comment. We are deeply sorry for the passport incident, but passports need to be taken because of the guest’s hotel registration, where our guests can in every moment request and get their passports back. Additionally, in case of any problem with the given room and after the guest’s objection, we gladly change rooms with ones at the guest’s satisfaction. We are sorry you did not come to us with that request – we would have been solved that problem immediately. We thank you for the lovely comment about our day receptionist Josip. We will continue to do trainings for all our employees. Best regards, Boris Barilar Hotel Manager

I've literally just come back from staying in Croatia (as in arrived home today) and I've got to say that this probably the most unjustly criticised hotel on this website. The complaints about this hotel are completely stupid, so I'm going to list each complaint and debunk it.
1. The hotel has no pool. The hotel isn't advertised as having one, so what is there to complain about?
2. That the hotel isn't on the beach. The beach is literally across the road and down some steps, a literal five minute walk, in terms of location this hotel is amazing. The beach is five minutes away, there are several shops on the same road where you can get food/alcohol/beach stuff/tourist stuff. A ten minute walk away is a whole street devoted to food and bars, all the restaurants serve the most amazing food at great places. The Old town is a 20-25 minute walk away with some amazing views, or you can get the number four bus that stops right outside the hotel and that will take you right there.
3. The hotel has no lift. Yes the hotel doesn't have a lift, if you have mobility issues or small children with pushchairs my deepest sympathies but even some hotels and B&Bs in Britain don't have lifts so I'm not sure why you'd take it for granted that hotel Adriatic would have one. On arrival at the hotel someone will kindly take your cases up the stairs and to your room for you. And let's face it walking up and down all those stairs is a good bit of exercise for you.
4. The shower. Someone wrote a review which stated that the shower is like having red hot needles on your back. That my friend, is called sunburn and not the shower, nor the hotel are responsible for your inability to put on sun cream. The shower is great, the water pressure is really good and so is the temperature.
5. The breakfast is limited. I'm not quite sure what is limited about 5 different selections of fruit, 4 of bread, 3 of cereal, 4 of tea, 4 of cold drinks, 6 of coffee, boiled and scrambled egg, yogurt, biscuits, sausages, cheese and ham is limited, talk about first world problems. The breakfast is lovely, you'll really enjoy it.
6. The decor is dated. The hotel has been around since the 1960s, and yes it could probably do with a lick of paint, and I'm not sure purple and yellow is the best colour combination for a door but the hotel is scrupulously clean, which is a testament to the housekeeping staff who are there from 7 in the morning. And let's face it, the longest you're going to stay in your hotel room is when you're asleep at night, and even then you've got your eyes closed, so what's the problem?
7. The staff are rude. I found the staff to be very pleasant and polite at all times. They work really hard and deserve all the recognition in the world. If you find them slightly standoffish it's probably because they're fed up of listening to your complaints about a non existent swimming pool they never advertised. From one customer service professional to another, I salute you the staff of the hotel Adriatic.
The Hotel Adriatic is a great hotel and great value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and I really would recommend it to anyone thinking of going to Croatia.

Pros: Nice beach conveniently situated. Staff member helped us arrange a transfer to next destination. Frequent bus to old town and back.
Cons: Our room temp read at 30 degrees C throughout stay. Air con worked intermittently and when working it didnt work effectively. Staff stated they could not help "its an ongoing problem" and shrugged shoulders. Declined to give us fan and showed total lack of interest. I was awake most of night due to heat. Room very shabby and dated. Breakfast barely edible.
I am not usually someone who writes reviews or complains but dont want others wasting money.

Recently stayed here with my girlfriend and we found this hotel offered everything we needed. Yes, it is a 2 star, so if you go expecting more, then you'll be disappointed. Our room was clean, air conditioned and had fresh towels/linen everyday. The cleaning staff were always polite and would say good morning if you see them. We paid a bit extra for a sea view balcony room and I would recommend this. Would have been nice to have a little fridge but this was our only improvement suggestion. We only ate breakfast a couple of times, which was buffet style and fine but had no evening meals, so cannot comment there. The location is wonderful. Bus stop into the old town is right outside and it's only a short walk to many restaurants/bars. If you are looking for a hotel that is reasonably priced and in a great location, consider this place.

Hi there Passenger21155788864,
you can book a transfer with us, and find info for booking a transfer on our official web site. Also, if you would like you can use airport shuttle bus to the central bus station in Dubrovnik and taxi to the hotel from central bus station or local bus to the hotel Adriatic.
Also you can use taxi directly from the airport to the hotel Adriatic.
Hopefully I answered your question about your concerns.
Best regards,
Towels were provided. There was no iron in the room. I do not know whether iron can be borrowed at the front desk.
On the website it is said that the hotel provides ironing service at additional charge.
Hi, there is no iron in the room. Kind regards, hotel Adriatic
no. you would have to go across the road to the restaurant where breakfast is served. there's no fridge either so you can't keep food in your room if you wanted. It's a budget hotel!
£54 return, 450 HKR, it was a large 8 seater taxi with just 2 of us both ways.
