Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for a week at the end of October. The location was great, 2 minutes walk from the beach, 2 minutes walk to the bus stop which takes you into the old town, although we always walked to and from the old town, it took us about 50 minutes each way.
The hotel itself is fine, slightly outdated and quite basic, there was no kettle or fridge in the room which most hotels have. The room was very clean though, there was a leak in the bathroom which sorted for us.
The food was OK, quite samey over the week but there was always something to fill us up.
We did get a good deal on it though so it was fine for what we paid. Last year we stayed nearby at a more luxury hotel but paid over double the price so it really depends what you want out of a hotel.

The staff are very friendly and the breakfast was great. The room is dated but that doesn’t really
matter. It’s in a great location. We couldn’t figure out the busses so we used Uber to get around and to get to the old town cost no more than 6 euros.
Only issue is that there’s a beachfront lounge close by and was very loud. That wasn’t very pleasant and went on until 4 am which kept us up. The lift works but seems a bit sketchy.
They have a lovely pool but it isn’t heated. We went in April and it was freezing so if you want to use the pool go in the warmer months

!! Great location in Lapad Bay, right by the sea!!
+ The hotel staff at Komodor - Dubrovnik is simply GREAT!
+ We have traveled all over the Adriatic in recent years, stayed in various hotels and apartments, but we have never experienced such friendly and courteous staff.
+ Special thanks and praise go to the restaurant service: Luce, Aleksandra, Ivanka, Dejan, Zeljko and the boss Marina.
+ To the entire reception, especially Marijan.
+ The room service was also very friendly.
What are the negative points for the Hotel Komodor:
- The hotel is beautiful, traditional, but needs a lot of renovation. The bathroom and toilets in particular are not pleasant. The bathrooms are also not clean.
- Unfortunately, we were given a room where the air conditioning units right next door made a lot of noise. After complaining, we were given an even smaller room with two youth beds where you could hardly move. No compensation and no apology.
- The bathroom and sink are also so small and dirty.
For the price we paid, it's an outrage.
- The food at the buffet was plentiful, but for breakfast it was always the same, who wants to eat beans for breakfast?
- The evening buffet was plentiful and varied, but it was pretty bland, without additional salt and pepper it would be inedible.
.....
+ And ONLY the friendly and competent staff outweigh all the negative aspects of the hotel and only because of that, we will probably come back.
+ The hotel manager can be happy that they have such friendly, courteous, professional and helpful staff, which makes you feel comfortable there!
We hope that the hotel management responds to the guests' reviews and changes something about the room quality.
Best wishes from Germany

Good location, near a nice beach with sun loungers for hire and plenty of restaurants. Unfortunately the rest of the hotel experience was disappointing. The room had no way to secure the door from inside and only had an old-fashioned key (easy to lose). There was no "do not disturb" sign for the extremely thin door so we were woken up every morning at 9am by housekeeping knocking on our door or vaccuming directly outside - be sure to bring earplugs. The mattress was thin and very hard, leading to an uncomfortable sleep. The bathroom was in a state of disrepair, wobbly tap with no hot water, cracked shower fittings. Only one spare socket in the whole room, not located next to the bed, so have fun trying to charge multiple phones or devices. Certainly not worth the ~€650 price for 5 nights, I recommend looking elsewhere.

We stayed at the Hotel Komodor last week, it was a lovely holiday. The room was very clean and housekeeping came in daily. In fact Luba our cleaner was very friendly and efficient for our whole week. She was there when we went down for breakfast and was really lovely!
The breakfast was a good range and we didn’t feel rushed at all.
All in all very good and we enjoyed our stay.
It’s a good location for the Old Town, we walked in about 20 mins or there is a bus. A beach is very close or some further away if you like to walk. A good range of restaurants nearby too.

+1
30 mins from airport, small hotel overlooking pebble beach (sand shoes required due to sea urchins), this small hotel delivers a quiet ambiance, rooms are dated and small but the area is well worth it. You are a few minutes away from the beach and numerous restaurants, the food was buffet with a small selection of ok food, with at least 4-5 main course meals and a standard range of puddings. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. The best shop is up the hill and turn left,
it's a big b&m type supermarket, check out the cakes. Bring your own kettle. Any questions you ask I will do my best.

The Komodor is an average 3-star hotel. It is well placed in a small street around 100 m from a public beach (where you have to pay for beach chairs, or you lie directly at the water on the stones), 250 m from a street with lots of restaurants and the bus station is around the corner. A bakery and a shop with all you need to survive at a beach are around 50 meters from the hotel. It is a quiet area. For HRK 15 a 15 minutes ride brings you to the old town.
The rooms are rather big, of course not that fancy, but clean. The value for money is excellent for Dubrovnik. The safes are available at the reception area. From the balcony you have a good view to the sea. There is no refrigerator in the room.
The stuff is friendly. The pool area is great for relaxing in evening after an excursion. Towels are available.
The breakfast buffett has a broad range of meat, vegetable, milk products, bread, juices and coffee. There is a big terrace where you can enjoy the food. If you are afraid of wasps you maybe better sit inside.

All hotel workers welcomed us warmly and helped us so kindly.
We can reach to the beach on foot and easily access to the city center by bus. The rooms were very clean and we could enjoy ocean view.
The hotel also offers reasonable dinner buffet and it costs much cheaper than other restaurants around the hotel.
We had great honeymoon memories!!

This hotel is horrendous. I’ve been in room 306 and it’s disgusting. The air con constantly leaks water on to the floor, there’s one wall plug, the other side of the room from the bed which is temperamental. The shower over flows. Right above us, as we’re on the top floor, must be the tanks, as everytime someone uses the toilet for something, it’s like a really loud nose going off next to the bed. The swimming pool well paddling pool is dangerous. The whole time I was here, the lights for the pool had come away from the wall and was flouting. Told reception and it’s like they were just pushed back into place again, ready for someone to jump in the pool again and for them to float to the top again. We were here for 5 days and my hotel room was cleaned once, because I asked the maid. But she was always on our floor all morning. Breakfast is pretty naff as well. If you want a nice hotel or somewhere to relax, don’t bother with this place. The best thing about this hotel is leaving. Serious issues only reason I gave a star is because I had to. If I could give exactly what I wanted then I wouldn’t give it anything.

Oh, shame!!
What a run-down hotel. We had booked a sea view, but the rooms with a sea view are in the dingy annex hotel and none of them have a BALCONY!! So what's the point of a sea view room? Now I can look at the sea while I stand wistfully in front of the window of the mini room. Great.
The hotel also has NO elevator, so we had to lug our suitcases up to the third floor ourselves.
The rooms resemble a small guest room, far too small for two people, especially for this price. There is also no refrigerator, no ironing board/iron and no safe. There is a small TV and a mini closet that is perhaps big enough for one person.
The food is simple canteen fare, there is nothing more to say about it. There is the bare minimum of what you would expect.
The drinks at dinner are absolutely overpriced (as is apparently the case in all of Dubrovnik), a small bottle of Coke (0.25 l) costs €4.50. With what justification? No idea. It was only more expensive in the old town.
The "beach" is not far away, but - and this is the worst part - there are NO loungers and NO parasols on the beaches. Nowhere here in Dubrovnik.
So if you want, you can lie on the pebbles with a towel in the blazing sun. Great. We asked to be on the safe side, but there are no loungers.
Apparently, Dubrovnik is not geared towards tourism, except when it comes to exorbitant, excessive prices. In the area there is a "supermarket" where you can buy mostly Lidl products for inflated prices and a small Studenac supermarket that offers very fair prices, otherwise there is not much or nothing here.
The bus to the even more overpriced old town (bottle of Coke €5.00, a scoop of ice cream around €3.00, coffee from €5.00) leaves directly from here, so you can be in the old town in 10 minutes (half a day is enough to see this tourist trap).
My conclusion: never again Dubrovik, the prices are far too high, the hotel is terrible, the beach unusable, the "pool area" is a joke and in mid-June it's absolutely dead here.
Better book something in Greece, Spain or somewhere else.
