We had a fabulous view of a beautiful seaside city. The room was magnificent and the staff was attentive. We had one glitch with laundry (don't get it done there) but management was extremely kind and understanding and immediately made things right. The dining area and the breakfast were superb. The location is excellent for view and beach and a little less so for tourist areas.
We were a family of 4 (children 9 and 12) and stayed in a Comfort room in late August. The hotel had a nice balance of guests - some families, couples, groups. It felt very relaxed and welcoming. The lobby is on the 10th floor and is ice cold with the A/C, with spectacular views over the sea and big comfy couches. There is also a bar, but it's a more chill cocktail place and not somewhere I'd bring kids. Pros Room - Big, well equipped and comfortable for 4. Nicely lit. Balcony is on the small side (just 2 chairs and a table) Beds - very comfortable, and the sofabed for the kids was also really large and comfortable and made up for singles so the kids didn't share blankets (the doubles are also, which was kind of odd) Pool - Didn't use the spa pool but the outdoor pool was quiet, unheated and had a mix of kids and adults using it. Possible to get a lounger too - though it was not that easy! Dining - Breakfast was very good, ate in restaurant for lunch and it was very good, not insanly expensive. The setting over the bay is nice. Cons It's a 10-15 min spin in a taxi/Uber to Dubrovnik. Uber is about the same as the bus for 4 (50-60kn) so we used that. Lapad Bay was my least favourite beach in Croatia - it's busy and the water was a bit unclean for me (partly becuse it's sandy, partly plastic rubbish floating in it). More a beach to sunbath and drink on.…
Hotel is just perfect!!! Great location but above all... beautiful and helpful staff! If you want to stay in Dubrovnik but in peaceful area, this is a place for you!!! Recommendation for everyone!!!!!
Absolutely stunning hotel with gorgeous views across Bay. Staff so friendly and welcoming, we had bed and breakfast and was perfect. So much choice, and ate this out on seafront patio. Weather was perfect. Outside pool bit fresh and the inside spa pool was cold which was a shame though. We got number 6 bus which you can catch from end of the strip into the old town. I cannot recommend this hotel and staff highly enough.
STOP look no further this hotel from thr moment you arrive, staff cant do enough its spotlessly clean everywhere the beds are amazing and the sea view is the best anywhere, half board food perfect.....
We arrived to celebrate our silver wedding staying at the kompas for 7 nights. It’s been perfect. The hotel have surpassed my expectations and deserve a accolade of creating a perfect break. We arrived to a upgrade, sparkling wine and flowers. Every day the room has new towels and chocolates. Happy hour drinks 5-7pm are gorgeous. We stayed bed and breakfast and the food was ample. We have one more night here and the area is winding down but the the weather has been splendid every day 24c. We have accessed the gym but it also is in a ideal location to run around the promenade. The sunsets are amazing. Tips . The bus service nearby is efficient. No6.. We have walked to and from the old city (45 mins) A walk to the port is 15 mins downhill and you get a bus no10 to Cavtat ( 40 mins). It’s a lovely, pretty town. The walls of the old city is a must. It was relatively quiet for October and it took 3hrs. Dubrovnik is expensive compared to Uk. Lapad too. £22 for a pizza. £6 for a beer/£9 for a cocktail. We have loved every minute and thanks to the Kompas for making it feel special.…
We absolutely loved our visit to Kompas Hotel…..all of the staff that we encountered were so friendly & incredibly pleasant. Our room was lovely, cleaned daily to a high standard, comfy beds, spacious bathroom, with a modern feel. We had a lovely view over the bay & enjoyed watching the amazing sunsets.. The location was perfect for us, incredibly easy to access the Old Town of Dubrovnik either via bus or taxi. Dubrovnik Old Town is so beautiful, it felt very safe & very easy to spend time wandering the beautiful streets & taking in the amazing views & soaking up the culture. The food at the hotel was good, we stayed as half board & had no issues with the food. Breakfast offered an extensive range and variety of choices, evening meal was slightly more limited, but absolutely fine. Thank you to all at Hotel Kompas, we would highly recommend a visit to this hotel. …
Ostensibly there’s nothing wrong with the hotel (prime location on the water in Lapad, provided you’re comfortable taking a taxi or bus to Old Town). When you first walk in, views are absolutely stunning. Our room was on the fifth floor with a view of the pool and the bay beyond it. Very nice. We were disappointed to discover two twin beds (I will note this is the hotel’s standard, however I had requested beforehand they be arranged as a double, which is something they do on request). The room was cleaned to a satisfactory standard, though I did note stains on my pillows as well as hair in and around the toilet. Ick! The bathroom door lock fell off as soon as we opened it, but maintenance quickly attended to repairs as soon as we called them. A chair in our room was broken as well, though we did not bother to report this. Food at Sphere (hotel restaurant) in our opinion was just OK; nothing bad, but nothing to write home about either. You have a choice of buffet or a la carte. We opted for the latter as buffet looked iffy (it had clearly been out a while). For dinner, I’d suggest having a look down the promenade at some of the other eateries that offer better food at the same price point or less. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant, however, is lovely. What was perhaps the biggest disappointment— which the hotel worked diligently to amend— was come confusion with spa appointments I booked. Sadly they could only provide one of two treatments I booked even with confirmation email as proof. They said they’d call the next day to rearrange, but didn’t. I took it upon myself to speak with reception, and was told there was no availability. At that stage I asked to speak with management, and the receptionist (Sonja, very nice and so obliging) invited us to sit with General Manager Ivana. Ivana took great care to listen to my concerns, apologizing profusely and ensuring I received the spa treatment I wanted. Later, a bottle of wine was sent to our room. I appreciated this gesture. In terms of everything else, we found the beds to be moderately comfortable (again, nothing to write home about) and the room basic. I’d hardly call the spa a “spa.” There’s a single treatment room next to the gym and indoor pool. Compared to similar hotels I’ve been in with a four-star rating, I found this quite misleading. All in all, while I greatly appreciated the intervention of management to address some of the aforementioned issues, it’s clear you’re paying for the location. This is a hotel for folks who want luxury (like me, I’ll freely admit it) but might not be able to afford it (like me, again, will freely admit it).…
Our flight was late arriving in Dubrovnik and the welcome we received once we got to the hotel was very much appreciated. The bed was very comfy, bathroom a good size. We had a limited view from our room, but there were nice walks along the water edge. Reception gave excellent instructions on how to get to town, good restaurants near by and they had the best exchange rate we encountered in Dubrovnik. Would recommend this hotel.
Stunning hotel in a stunning location. Clean, comfortable and friendly. Paid for a sea view which was great. Had breakfast which was lovely, but if I had one complaint the hot plates didn't seem to do their job therefore use to wait for fresh eggs to be cooked. Both pools were lovely especially outside pool with the view of the bay. Highly recommended this hotel.
