This review is based on a family stay in June 2017. A large hotel that gets quite busy when a wedding is on (4 out of 7 days when we were here) but great facilities and a location that more than makes up for the occasional noisiness. The children (ages 21 and 23) made the most of the gym, the indoor pool and the easy access to the crystal clear sea. It was only a 15 minute walk to the city walls so we ate in the Old City most nights after the cruise ships had moved on and the city got a little quieter. A great hotel.
nice hotel food very expensive staff are nice it was near all the historic places we wanted to see felt safe walking from the hotel to the town the views from the hotel are fantastic dubrovnik is a beautifully town
Grand Villa Argentina is one of the oldest hotels in Dubrovnik, and its amazing location makes it a super exclusive place to be. Venturing into the lobby makes one immediately facing a stunning view over the sea and island Lokrum. We came here after our stay in Montenegro, where we luckily also stayed outside the old town. We have spent a week in Dubrovnik and it was the best decision to book Argentina, so we didn’t have to go to the old city, saturated with tourists and cheap entertainment. Hotel itself is nice, certainly it has seen a better days, but all in all it was a decent place to be outside the madness of the city walls. Just 10 minutes walk to the actual town of Dubrovnik! Staff is absolutely fantastic, helping with anything absolutely anything. Very knowledgeable and polite! Rooms are little outdated, with upholstery from 80s, but spectacular grounds and views make up for every short comings! We have spent most of the time on lovely terraces of the hotel and its stone beach.…
Overall (Specific Details Below): A luxurious, spacious, and exclusive grand hotel with all the accommodations and services one could imagine including an elegant hotel restaurant that serves late-night (Until 2300 for FULL Menu), all hours room service, dry-cleaning, bootblack, lobby bar, car hire, concierge, spa, seaside swimming, seaside lounge pool, and a fully staffed seaside lounge with drink and dining options available. If you think, can we do it here? Will the hotel help us? Yes! The answer is yes! They will get you to yes. Details.... Room: A basic room will get you a reasonable amount of space, considering this is Eastern Europe. I'm an absolute American and I thought the room for both of us was just fine. Extremely clean and well stocked. A word on Air Conditioning: In the room: It is rather lacking. In the Spring / Summer, beginning in May, you're often better off opening the terrace doors. We had a sea view room, that was amazing and the air from the Adriatic washing over us was incredible. In the hotel: Temperature was just fine; very comfortable. Service: In truth, I had some difficulty understanding the dry-clean / press forms, but a manager came to our room and assisted us personally. If confusion exists, simply ask for help at the front desk, they are more than happy to accommodate. Price: The price was a bit high -- in retrospect, I would do this all over again as it was my first visit here and it was absolutely worth it, Amenities -- Feel like just sitting seaside with a bottle of wine? Does it cross your fancy to lounge absolutely anywhere in this expansive hotel and catch up on reading? Would you like help finding appropriate dining, find a tour guide, hire a car to take you to other cities or even Montenegro? They will help you. A word on the concierge: She was a slight young lady, and it seemed she wanted me to book a more expensive boat, playing ignorant after she showed me a reasonably priced accommodation for two -- she insisted it was too small. If this issue occurs, use the front desk and leverage a manager. They will make all right. Location: Splendid. A short walk from the Old City, yet far enough to keep the noise away. Staff: I mentioned the concierge above, some caution must be applied; the front desk will always help with anything from language gap, to restaurant recommendations, car hire, bootblack, and transportation. Actually, if you can think of it -- the front desk WILL help with it! They will find a way. Porters: Excellent, stalwart, loyal, and thorough. Waiters: Timely, polite, genuine people. I was treated so well by all the porters / front desk / wait staff that I am still amazed. Front Desk: These people are accommodating and will sort anything out you should require. I am probably a rather demanding guest and a nervous passenger: these kind folks will put anyone at ease and see to your needs. Concierge: Mentioned above, take some caution, review pricing, and always ask if there is something else...…
My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is in a good position with a lovely view and good terrance where you can swim in the wonderful sea. These are the only positive points of this hotel. The interior is outdated and dreary obviously catering for the mass tourist market and not caring enough to update anything. Our bathroom flooded on the first night due to a blocked drain leading from the bath which the maintenance team had to unblock. We complained and were offered a new room but having been assured the problem was solved we stayed put. The next night it happened again and again on the 3rd night. We left. I might also add that the food is quite uneatable. We had lunch the terrace and I had an artichoke wrapped in ham which was still frozen in the middle. Avoid this hotel at all costs.…
