This was the first hotel I stayed with my husband during the trip in Croatia. It is located just 5-10 minutes walk to old city with supermarkets nearby. The bar and restaurants are having good vibes and serving great food! It was really chilled sitting at to the bar area facing the sea while having a drink! Great variety for breakfast in semi-buffet style where you can order hot food from menu. Staff were helpful and friendly too. Our room had an stunning seaview seeing the old city and it was absolutely enjoyable sitting at the balcony to just relax. Room size was ok but it was quite noisy and could hear music and people talking nearby. I was going in low season so it might be quite annoying during peak season. Besides, water would leak to outside the bathroom when bathing. The room was a bit disappointing but in general it was a nice stay!…
Hotel Excelsior is a beautiful quirky building, hugging the hillside over 6 floors just outside Dubrovnik old town. It is easy walking distance to the sites of old town, the walls and ferry to Lokrum as well as the high end restaurants of old town Dubrovnik (360, Nautica). The sea view is amazingly beautiful. The quality of the rooms and facilities is excellent (similar to large luxury chains like the Four Seasons but with more local character). The staff are attentive and very polite and all spoke excellent english. Front desk very helpful. The quay styled beach frontage is perfect for swimming in the beautiful clear sea water and the service beachside is excellent for drinks and lunch. Included breakfast was generous and delicious. This was our second visit here in 4 years as it is so relaxing and the fact it is only about 30 minutes between arriving at Dubrovnik airport and being in your room is also a major advantage. In hotel dining is of excellent standard. we ate at Prora - the in house, ‘feet in the sea’ restaurant on 3 nights which was relaxing and delicious. Any downsides: not really, it isn’t cheap but is good value, and i suppose if you have very small children you might find the quayside beach-front less relaxed than a sandy beach. Otherwise one of the best hotels I have stayed at particularly for families with teenage or older kids, couples etc.…
This hotel has surpassed all of my expectations. The staff, attentive, courteous, and professional and everyone from the GM to the housekeeping staff made us truly welcome. They even surprised me with a delicious birthday cake. The location is within proximity to everything and is a short walk to Old Town. The facilities are top notch and in great working condition. Our room was a sea view room facing Lokrum island and has an amazing view of Old Town. Sunrise and sunset views from our suite were both awesome. The suite is very well appointed and very spacious. I love everything about this hotel and highly recommend it.
Everything on our stay has been amazing. Perfect ocean front terrace room. Rooftop restaurant was great food and service. Breakfast buffet is plentiful and also offers fresh prepared egg dishes, or crepes, French toast, and waffles. Pool/spa area is great as well.
Six days too long in a mediocre, impersonal hotel which was not compensated by the view of Dubrovnik old town. It does have a pretty view but this did not compensate for being in a stuffy bedroom below street level where the walls seemed to close in on you and the air conditioning was circulating stale air. Public areas were empty and actual seating uncomfortable. It may look stylish, and that’s debatable, but it was not comfortable or welcoming. Not a place to want to spend time in. I cannot be sure the room was cleaned well, it never had that fragrant clean smell when returning after a day out. Bins were not emptied daily as the remains of a packed breakfast were still in a bin a day later. After a long day trip I found no shower gel mid shower and no bath sheet. We had started with 4 bath sheets when we arrived. I lost interest using the indoor pool after seeing a discarded plaster poolside 2 days running. Sunbeds were not available one sunny morning as no one there to set them out - this was after 10 am. We normally used this area later in the day. Some staff understood the concept of hospitality, and were happy to be there but others seem to view their role as an inferior job. Particularly evident at breakfast time where it was a challenge to get a cup of coffee some days. We were left wondering whether a 5 star hotel provides good service to a select few staying in a suite. We’ve stayed in hotels around the world, the Far East, Europe, Caribbean, Africa and Rovinj in Croatia and have generally found welcoming happy staff who treat guests equally, clean bedrooms, comfortable public areas people are happy to be in, and fresh air. My worst holiday since staying in a primitive caravan in Wales.…
This hotel is one of the best we’ve stayed in. The staff are very friendly, courteous, welcoming, kind and nothing is too much trouble. It is very spacious, very clean and modern but comfortable at the same time. The views from the hotel, both day, sunset and night are stunning. The food is excellent, too. Prosecco at breakfast, if that’s your tipple, is a treat! It has much to offer for everyone, including families and is just a short walk into the old town.
I had booked a junior suite but on arrival was upgraded to a deluxe suite. It was absolutely lovely with simply stunning views over the old town. The staff were without exception polite and friendly. The sun terrace was also very nice. The walk to the old town is five minutes. A very pleasant and relaxing stay.
Seaside room with modern decor coupled with world class service at a very reasonable price relative to EU or USA counterparts. Spa, pool and restaurants are all great and definitely befitting such a wonderful location and view. I would definitely visit here again.
Wonderful hotel with incredible views! We arrived in the dark and headed to old town which is roughly 6 minutes walk. So when we saw the views the next morning from our room we were so delighted. Breakfast on the terrace could not have been better with views either way a treat for your eyes. The hotel organised a birthday cake in the room for my boyfriend which was delicious and a lovely touch. The room was large clean and comfortable with a stunning view. Staff were friendly and attentive we will return
My partner and I stayed here in July of this year and absolutely loved it. The staff was so welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The view from our room was spectacular. We particularly loved the breakfast and the easy access to the sea. Super conveniently located to the main town. Would recommend anyone looking to visit Dubrovnik to stay here :)
