This was our first trip to Croatia. It was a joy to travel as we are used to doing city break several times a year, but Covid has put paid to that this year. This part of the country is stunning and the apartment was spotlessly clean, very spacious and perfectly located. The bed has a memory foam mattress which we found really comfortable. The room is well equipped should you want to cater for yourselves, but with so much choice there is really no need. Literally seconds away from a huge number of restaurants and bars. Two minutes walk to the Old Town Walls. We would definitely stay again if we were returning to this gorgeous city
We had beautiful weekend getaway, clean and very modern apartment. Location is just amazing everything is step away. Dubrovnik wasn’t crowded at all and sightseeing was beautiful. Staff is fantastic and apartment were clean. They take care of safety and health standards. Highly recommend it.
If given another choice during your vacation, DO NOT stay here. We had our reservation booked, due to covid our flight from the US was cancelled. not only will he not let us reschedule, he is very rude! Told me that “don’t worry if you can make it here, you will enjoy it, because there is no one here” . If you can appreciate the kind of character your money is going towards, then do not book here. A million places to choose from. Don’t give them your money. Pure robbery and shows someone taking advantage of your money during a time of crisis
Just spent three nights at these superbly located apartments. Wonderful base, right off Main Street in the old town and bonus of no steps to struggle with cases through the streets. Note, taxi can drop you at main gates, but not right outside. Lovely welcome gift also left by hosts. Air con a must and very efficient. We stayed on 2nd floor, no lift but we were kindly helped with luggage. Lovely decor, comfortable bed, power shower and smart tv was an added bonus! Kitchen is equipped with basics, but everything is on the doorstep anyway, so we only had breakfast in. Only thing missing is 2 beach towels. Might be worth taking for escaping the sweltering heat and tourists if you fancy hopping across to the islands as we did.
The DBA is aptly described as “boutique” - it is evident that care and craft have gone into the décor of the apartment, however due to some unique features, full & proper use of the apartment is difficult. Also some of the advertising info is quite misleading - When booking the Petilovrijenci apartment, the website indicates 592square ft/ 55sqm with city views. The area available to the guest behind closed doors is well actually less than 45 sqm but this would not be an issue if all else were as promoted - Our view was of the wall & paving of Petilovrijenci St and whilst a view through the window into a narrow closed-in street might pass for city views to some, this description is misleading. When booking the Petilovrijenci apartment the confirmation displays a photograph of a different larger apartment. No advice was provided on how to access the apartment for visitors who have difficulty with long steep flights of stairs, or for visitors with large suitcases or for visitors arriving by car. It could be as simple as “Drop your passengers & baggage at the Pile Gate or if on foot - use Pile Gate entry directly onto the main street". Centrally located to cafes, restaurants, walking tours & boat cruises. The atmosphere is cosy & welcoming with a jar of cherry liqueur - a nice touch. Whilst there is a key pad on the street entry for self check-in, it was faulty & we were unable to open the door until someone arrived later & although she too was unable to open the door using the key pad –she had a key & let us in. Note - The contact number provided with the hotel booking confirmation is not the correct contact number making matters worse. There are various appliances located in the kitchen - great - but none have access to a power point in the kitchen where they should be used. To use an appliance requires an extension lead, or moving the appliance to a power point in the living area. There is a coffee machine but only 4 pods & no milk provided. You could buy milk & coffee pods but you would need a supermarket. and there are none in the old town. The WC bowl is located inside the shower recess, behind the screen in the wet area - showering leaves a wet, slippery floor (& wet toilet paper) for anyone who uses the WC afterwards. The WC bowl is located hard up against the wall requiring users to sit sideways. Using the WC at night requires turning on the bedroom light to step over the raised lip into the wet area to avoid tripping. The shower’s hot water is operated by a switch alongside the lighting and fan switch making it too easy to turn the hot water power off with the light and fan leaving stone cold water available. Of the eight hotels we stayed in between Malta, Austria, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia, the DBA was the 2nd most expensive but the 7th rated in comfort, quality/standard, amenities, parking access, and overall benefits.…
The first thing I noticed when we arrived was how clean the apartment smelt. We were greeted with biscuits, liqueur and lavender bags. We were on the second floor with a four poster bed and a really quirky bathroom. Honestly the bathroom was the only reason this lost a star for me. There were a lot of maintenance jobs that needed doing. The fan made a horrendous noise when it started, the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall and the shower taps came off in your hand. All the things I've mentioned about the bathroom are small things that are easy to fix. You can have a great shower and the sink is like a carved out pebble. The lounge area is also an added bonus for more space and you can make yourself a hot drink! You have a lovely girl bringing you clean towels every day and you are so close to the main street of Stradum it's really easy to get everywhere.…
We had the attic apartment for a few nights in early October. Perfect location for visit to the old city, just off the ancient Main Street. Comfortable and clean. There is a little noise from the streets below but not enough to prevent a good night’s sleep. Be aware that there are stairs to the apartment which may be difficult for some, but that’s kind of obvious from it being the attic apartment.
These apartments are gorgeous and very well done. The exposed stone and beam ring true to Old Town, but the furnishings and bath really take it up a notch. The result is a very posh living space that is a wonderful place to relax after your days touring the city. We stayed on the second floor and it should be noted that there is no elevator. That being said, the owners were clear to us that this was the case and the climb was not bad. The view is likely different for each of the apartments, but again, this was not a bad thing. We could not see over the neighboring building, but the alley was full of character and did feel like you were looking out into the inner workings of a medieval castle. Finally, the owners have done a wonderful job compiling the story of the house and of Dubrovnik into two books which await you on the coffee table. They were informative and interesting and gave the home an even more personal feel. The recommendations within the literature were also very helpful as was the reception worker. …
Fantastic apartment with plenty of space. The bathroom was modern with a great rain shower or a separate attachment if you didn't want to wash your hair. We stayed on the first floor and yes like other reviews it can be noisy when people above are walking around. The apartment could appear dark at times because of the location and very close to the building opposite but I didn't mind that as we didn't spend a lot of time in it. The bed was comfortable and plenty of storage space with hangers. It was right in the heart of the Old Town in a little street off the main Stradun. On our first morning we went to a café on the Stradun nearly opposite to the street of the apartment. As nice as it was it was very expensive compared with other cafes serving breakfast and for this reason I wouldn't recommend it, I much preferred the Gradska Kavana Arsenal a little further down but I'll save that for another review. Other mornings we also had take out from the little bakery a couple of shops down from the street. So much choice and great value. The apartment had great amenieties and the air conditiioning worked well although I found that you had to leave the bedroom door open to feel it in there. As other reviews it can be noisy at time but I expected this being in the heart of a city. The tv was a great addition and having had many busy and long days out it was great to sit down for an hour before bed and watch Netflix. Vikto on reception was very helpful in recommending place to go and the best times. At one point I did ask for more hand soap in the bathroom but didn't receive any. All in all a great apartment that was clean and provided everything we needed for a beautiful stay in Dubrovnik.…
