Small boutique mini-apartments, with kitchenette. Recently modernised, with new AC / heater units and plush bathrooms. Wifi is good, and rooms have kitchenettes with kettle, hob, fridge, sink etc. Right in the centre of the Old Town off Stadun Street. Staff friendly and helpful. No hotel facilities but shops and restaurants nearby.

Located a few metres from the Stradun, the main thoroughfare in the Old Town, and a few minutes walk from the Ploce Gate, Scalini Palace is an excellent place to stay. Previous comments about the stairs are correct. We were located in Room 5, on the third floor, and the gentleman at reception kindly offered to take our, very heavy, bags for us. He took two, made it to the first floor, then continued with one at a time. I did warn him. On leaving, I carried the bags downstairs and the gravity assist helped, however older folk may experience some difficulty and would be wise to seek assistance. Our room was fully equipped for a long stay. Very clean, cooking facilities with cutlety, saucepans etc, and a small balcony which was handy for clothes drying. nice bathroom with plenty of hot water. The only improvement I could suggest would be the inclusion of a direct phone line to reception as using the stairs to make an enquiry could be a nuisance. Reception is not always staffed, however. You are offered four choices for breakfast which is delivered to your room. Upon checkin you advise the time you prefer for breakfast., which you may or may not get depending on the choices of other guests. All staff at Scalini Palace were very nice, polite, and helpful. Day tours can be arranged from reception and they will make restaurant reservations if asked. The palace does not have a bar, however there is a small bar almost next door. Overall, we were really impressed and happy with our stay and highly recommend Scalini Palace

We enjoyed our 4 night stay and would recommend. In an ideal location a few metres up a side street from main thoroughfare Stradun, accommodation comprised a studio suite tastefully decorated and furnished largely from IKEA with bed, tv, sofa, breakfast bar and kitchenette (fridge, two ring hob, sink and drainer, cupboards with basic crockery cutlery glassware and pots) and an en suite bathroom with large walk in shower . The guys on the front desk were very friendly and helpful. There are no communal areas, and rooms are accessed by a staircase only (no lift). Breakfast is ordered from a selection of four basic menus for a specific time. This is a rather hit and miss affair and some of the breakfast items were missed off tray butter, jam and milk on some days and timings are very approximate. The automatic air freshener is needed as intermittent drain odours in the shower room.Overall a super stay notwithstanding the minor issues.

Positives - A great location on a side street a few steps from the Stradun, which is the main pedestrian street. The apartment was spacious, clean, and modern. Good air conditioning. Our room, on the 4th floor, had a very nice city view. Friendly, helpful front desk people. Negatives - Scalini means "stairs" in Italian, and if you stay here you will be doing plenty of them, as there is no lift. We were on the top 4th floor, which meant a long haul up and down. In addition, there is no telephone from the room to the front desk, so if you want something or need to ask a question, you have to go down in person. Water pressure and wi-fi, were both sketchy, apparently dependent on the number of people using them at one time. Breakfast is brought to your room, and was just OK.

We stayed for 3 nights at Scalini Palace. It was our first time to Dubrovnik. Overall, it's in a great location for those wishing to be in the old town. The staff was incredibly helpful, especially Vicko. The room had a refrigerator and small kitchen area which was a nice touch. The room included breakfast which you selected in advance and they brought to your room - which was a really nice experience! The room was also very quiet hearing very little from outside or from other guests. However, there were 3 downsides, one of which will prevent us from staying there again. First and very minor, they have one of those automatic scented air freshener machines in the bathrooms which pumps out a fragrance every now and again. While I can imagine it can be 'helpful' at times...in the middle of the night waking up multiple times to a strong scent getting pumped out was not desirable. If we closed the door, it blocked enough of the fragrance from getting into the sleeping area during the night. The 2nd is that the lock on the door locks you into the room. So we had one key and my husband needed to run out for something. The only option is to lock the door from the outside, which would lock me in, or leave it unlocked. There was no way for me to lock the door from the inside with him having the key on the outside. Not a fan of either for safety (i.e. fire hazard) or someone accessing the room (very unlikely). The major drawback was the bed and everything about it! The mattress felt like solid wood. The pillows were foamy and lumpy. And there was no duvet or top blanket! It was just a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and a decorative throw across the foot of the bed. First night was miserable with little sleep. We found a fleece blanket that we used the next 2 nights. But still...for 300 euros+ per night?? We've traveled all over Europe and have never experienced this lack of blankets/duvets before. We literally did not sleep for 3 nights. For this reason alone, we would not return.
