Dear friends, Have you ever wondered what life looks behind the walls of this city of stone? Peek behind it, and you will realize it is where your always wished to be. You wil find our, over 600-years-old renovated house that was damaged during the war 1991, "VILLA RAGUSA" in Zudioska street no.15, just in the heart of the Old Town.Recommended by Rich Steve’s.The five comfortable, modern rooms come with atmospheric old wooden beams, antique furniture and thoughtful touches. There are three doubles with bathrooms and two singles that share a bathroom. Enjoy your vacation in our home, which is like a majority of Dubrovnik houses built on few (five) stories. Decorated in spirit of old times, providing all the modern means for a pleasant stay (AC,TV-SAT,safe,fridge.kettle ) you will find your room to be your peaceful Dubrovnik gateway. Our family can serve the breakfast in our charming restaurant or can be eaten at close by restaurant Mediteraneo Allow us to make your stay a memorable one! Valeria & Pero

The hotel was a stone throw away from everything you want to do in the old town of Dubrovnik. The room had everything you need including shampoo, soap, always restocked the toilet roll, and did a clean every 2 days of our stay which was humbly appreciated. Mia and Miho were so lovely, and even let us leave our bags after check in, always available to help and gave us the best recommendation for food at Eudilis Oyster Bar -best food we ate in Dubrovnik! Amazing balcony with views over the old town and little cafes and places to drink right outside the hotel, when youre tired from all the steps in the old town! Very reasonably priced for such a stunning and convenient location. All amenities needed available. Clean. Great shower pressure.

What an incredible experience! Pero was a truly gracious host and offered great insight on places to visit and ways to save money during my stay.
The location was also excellent, as it's very close to the Buza Gate, so you don't have to carry your luggage very far.
I'm on an extended trip through Europe and can honestly say this was one of my favorite accommodations.
I can't recommend it highly enough.

We rented entire apartment for 3 couples, perfect location and amenities. Our host Pero was courteous and kind, he also gave us some great restaurant and activity recommendations. Thanks Rick Steves for telling us about Villa Ragusa in your travel book.

We really loved this place. The owner, Pero, met us when we arrived and shared some of his homemade grappa. Delicious! He had excellent suggestions for getting around town, dining, and sights to see. The rooms were lovely and the location, inside the old town very near the Buza gate, was perfect. We really enjoyed walking all over the old town, and felt that we earned our daily gelato with all the stairs!

We stayed here 2 nights. The host was wonderful and oriented us to the city using a map. The location is perfect for touring Dubrovnik.Be prepared to climb stairs. There are a lot of them but that is not unique to Villa Ragusa. The room was comfortable, soft mattress and the clanging of the bells every hour made it difficult to sleep (I need a quiet environment). I wish the host had left an am beverage like tea. I would recommend this for a stay in Dubrovnik.

Great location and has a wonderful shared balcony next to the entrance of the old town. There is a ramp so it’s easy to roll luggage from the main street. Beware which unit they provide you with. If it’s not upstairs don’t bother. The downstairs unit we had was dingy and smelly and in need of renovation. No windows in master bedroom and a lot of noise from the alley. Also there is no laundry or parking at this place. The host was wonderful though and did his best to help us.

This was our first overnight in Croatia. Our welcome could not have been better. In the old town close to everything. The room was perfect for our needs. Clean, good shower and great AC. Pero (the owner was wonderful. So full of information, he brought everything to life. If you can, hire him as a tour guide do. Best tour in all of Europe. We can’t wait to go back and would definitely stay here again.

Reading through some of the other reviews, I had the same (good) first impressions. Offered brandy when you arrive, helpful suggestions about places to visit, the rooms are small but adequate and very clean - also it is quite difficult to find single rooms in Dubrovnik.

I was travelling by myself, which I have done many times in various corners of the world over the last 15 years. On the second day of my stay, the owner already mentioned in other reviews, Pero Carevic, who had hitherto seemed just nice and friendly, started being creepy. He sat with me both mornings at breakfast (there is a restaurant at the end of his street where his guests get a breakfast deal) which was fine. Then later that evening, at the same restaurant (it is right beside the big area where there is often entertainment, that evening a fashion show) he offers me a drink, which is fine also. Had a drink and a chat, not a big deal, and still within the 'owner of hotel being friendly' realm. Then he walks me back up the street and at the door, suggests that I should 'invite him upstairs'. I told him no, that I wouldnt do that. (he is married and I am not interested whatsoever).

He had my email and mobile number from the email where I sent the booking request, and he started sending me messages that were inappropriate. I declined an offer of a trip to Montenegro (he said we could spend the day together and go swimming) and said that I was just about to leave Dubrovnik. He sent me an email saying that he "wanted to spend time" with me, "perhaps in the evening?" which arrived late this past Saturday (28 August) at 22:30. I ignored the email.

I should perhaps have seen the warning signs, but he seemed normal at the beginning. one big warning sign: the first morning I went out for my run at 6:45am and it was already too hot. I mentioned this in passing to him later on, describing where I had gone running but making reference to needing to run the following morning at 6am otherwise it would be hot to do 5km. The second morning, he told me that he had been out driving, and was driving up and down where I had said I was running, 'looking for' me. Creepy.

Then Sunday morning, just after 7:30am, the lock on my door started to be opened. I got up very quickly and turned the lock the other way, asking who was there. He answered, 'Pero'. I told him not to come in. It frightened me that he was there, and I felt especially vulnerable because I had no top on, it being extremely hot weather. There is no way to bolt the door from the inside, and what followed was him unlocking the door (with his key) and me frantically telling him to go away, him telling me to open the door, saying he wanted to bring me 'breakfast', and me turning the lock the other way for each time he was trying to unlock and open my door. I started yelling, begging him to go away, this was my room, and only when I started shouting loudly and swearing at him did he stop - thank god for the person next door, who could hear everything, and I know that this was the only reason he stopped trying to get into my room and left.

It was an absolutely awful experience. Once I stopped trembling and crying from the shock of it, I packed my things, and went to the tourist office. I told them what happened, showed them all the emails and text messages, left the money I owed the creep and the key, and left. I should have complained to the police, but the whole incident was so upsetting that I just decided to leave Dubrovnik and go to the islands straight away.

I have to stress that aside from this horrible incident, Dubrovnik is in general a fantastic, very safe environment for female travellers. I am determined not to let him ruin my holiday, but please, if you are a woman travelling alone, stay far far far away from Pero and Villa Ragusa.

I had to write a review after reading all of the other very positive ones on trip advisor. Everyone is right - the location is amazing, the street is quiet and the manager gave us an opportunity to ask questions. But then he asked when we were leaving approx two minutes after we arrived - we didn't feel too welcome then. This happened again the next day when we had move rooms (they were very booked up and couldn't give us one room for two nights). The bins hadn't been emptied after the previous guests had left. The tiny bathroom had cracked tiles. The main problem though was the noise very early in the morning. On the first morning the people above us were leaving early and woke us up - the manager then proceeded to chat to them outside our room. On the second morning we were woken at 6am by the people above us leaving. There is no insulation/sound proofing between the ceiling and floor so you hear people walking on the hard floors above and their conversations can be heard clearly. In summary, great place but book during off peak season and on the top floor. Certainly not worth the 100 euros and night we paid otherwise.

We stayed at Villa Ragusa for 3 nights with our 2 teenage children. It was a perfect location and the rooms were comfortable, charming, lovely, and clean. Pero was a perfect host - he oriented us to the city, gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities, and he made himself available whenever we needed him. It was comforting knowing that he was there to help us with anything we needed. He even drove us to the airport for a nominal fee. I would highly recommend staying here (just know that there are a lot of steps!).

Hello Denise yes they do have air conditioning. I had one of the two single rooms with a shared bathroom. I understand the room at the very top has great vistas and is for two people. There is no elevator in the house so you have to be able to go up stairs so pack light. You can make a reservation directly via their website. The owner and his wife live in the home next door. Payment is cash, no credit cards. The place is located in the old town right down from the Buze gate. I arrived in Dubrovnik via Cataraman and got into a taxi outside the pier and had the taxi driver call the owner. The taxi took me to the Buze gate where the owner, Pero, was waiting. The was wearing a bright red shirt and therefore easily identifiable. Dubrovnik's old town is pedestrian only but once again you have to walk down a few stairs to get there but I only had one carry onw small suitcase and he carried it for me. Large amount of luggage are cumbersome if you choose to stay in Dubrovniks old town. By the way there is a self service laundry right outside the Buze gate which is very convenient if you stay there.
