This hotel is perfectly located in the old town next to the waterfront. Our room had an amazing view of the waterfront, was very cute with stone walls, and was clean.
No elevator. If you want to park your car, the hotel parking is located 10 minutes away by foot, better to put your essentials in a backpack.

The staff is wonderful, after the girl met me at the reception, after 11PM, it was not difficult for her to answer my questions afterwords.
The room was very clean and it seems to me that they pay close attention to all the recommendations regarding Covid 19, they are rare that I have seen wearing masks :)
The mattress is very comfortable and as a little surprise I got a room with a sea view and it was very nice to wake up in the morning and watch the sunny Split waterfront.
I will definitely come again when I am in Split!”

This accommodation is perfectly placed in st Marcus square. It is within the old city walls which makes it an easy base for heading out to explore.
The room itself was pretty standard. Complimentary tea and coffee and a fully stocked mini bar. Mini bar is a good size so you can put your own water in and also has an ice compartment.
Room was a bit on the small side not much movement around the sides of the bed. Bathroom was very small but had all you needed ie a shower and a toilet!
Would recommend to those who just need a base rather that a luxury stay

probably the worst hotel experience of my life. rude staff, below average rooms overall ruined the otherwise great trip. to start off the staff added a whole bunch of added charges to our stay, and when we declined she said i dont care you can leave we are still going to charge you for all the nights youve booked. so we were forced to stay for our booking for an unreasonable price. on top of this our accommodation was not anything like their photos on booking.com, we were lead on to expect so mich and were given a tiny room with no hot water and very poor amenities. There is no benefit to staying here we found plenty of better options in split for alot better prices. please do not stay here!!!

Hi Hamed, sorry for late reply... As much as I tried to explain you on the, at lease an hour long, check in I didn't succeed. I did not succeed to explain you that you can not book a room for 2 people and than expect that we can accommodate 5 people instead and for the same price. Maybe, but just maybe that is the reason why you didn't had enough hot water to all five of you since every room has it's own water heater. I did not succeed to explain you that, although you accepted cancellation policy, you can not call at 20 h and tell us that you are not coming the same evening and expect not to be charged. By the way we didn't charge you the full amount. I did not succeed to explain you the check out time since you left the room 2 hours later than that, no charge of course. I did not succeed to explain that you are paying city tax in all hotels in Croatia, as in the most of the world cities, and it's already calculated in your price on booking.com just on the invoice it has to be separated. I did not succeed to charge you two more drinks from the mini bar, since nobody told us that you had it. Also I'm not sure did me and my colleague apologise enough to other guests that we had to move from the rooms above, underneath and next to your room since you and your friends were so loud. So, dear Hamed I highly recommend you, next time you made a booking somewhere, read every step through reservation so this agony on the check in, wouldn't happened again. I wish you all the best and regards from Croatia, Marijana

My mother and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in october 2022.

We had originally booked one of the suites with two bedrooms of which one bedroom was located up a steep little staircase on one of the highest floors. But when we arrived we received a slightly larger suite on a much lower floor as a service. This was great for my mother who cannot walk up stairs so very well, it was lovely to stay on a lower floor instead. The suite also had two separate bedrooms. The beds were extremely comfortable and we both slept really well! Nice and firm mattresses and pillows. The watercooker in the room was also used a lot in the evenings. Our windows had a view on a cute and busy square, however if you closed the windows you could hear nothing! Even if the square was busy with people enjoying themselves or with street musicians, our rooms were quiet. The airconditioning was also very useful.

Breakfast was absolutely wonderful! So many delicious items even though the breakfast buffet area was very small; eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon , sausages, meats and cheeses, yoghurt and salads. Everything we could possibly want. I particularly enjoyed the savoury pastries that were different each day! Also the staff was so sweet, they even fried extra eggs for us when the buffet did not have any more fried eggs. Very happy and friendly staff.

The shower in our suite was also very comfortable, however it had a very high rim so I imagine for some people it may be a little dificult to make such a high step to get into the shower. But luckily for my mother there were enough handholds to get in and out of the shower just fine.

The location of this hotel is also perfect! In the middle of the old town and only a few steps from the waterfront. There was also a nice restaurant (pasta's) in front of the hotel where we went a few times.

All in all, would definately like to stay again! Thank you!

When I travel, I look for cleanliness, very central location and good service. This ticked all three boxes. Location wise you are bang in the heart of the old town with restaurants, tourist attractions, the waterfront and a supermarket on your doorstep. Very clean. Good housekeeping. Hot water, fridge, air conditioning and tea / coffee facilities. Wifi was hit and miss but this is the same in all of Croatia. Staff were really sweet and friendly. Breakfast was included but I did not bother as I prefer to try different places in town. Most hotels in Croatia don't have lifts so be prepared to climb. Easy climb up the stairs. Room was very spacious. One thing, my room had lovely views of the waterfront with all the restaurants underneath. However, it was very noisy late in the night. Noise does not bother me. I can sleep through a war zone! If you are a light sleeper, you may struggle. When you first arrive and you try to locate the hotel as a car cannot drive there, just use the GPS on your phone. The hotel is located in a small corner up a flight of stairs (it is clearly sign posted).

Easy walking distance from the ferry with hand luggage. Without google maps would have struggled to find it. Once we did the reception were expecting us and the lady was extremely efficient and friendly at check in. The room was on the ground floor next to reception. Plenty of room and clean. Shower clean and plenty of hot water. Room was bit warm when we arrived but the air con soon did its job and quietly. The hotel is within two minutes walk of the Riva and of Diocletians palace. Plenty of bars and restaraunts within 5 minutes walk. Breakfast had a choice between hot or cold and plenty of choice so you wont go hungry. As there were a few hours between checkout and the airport transfer we were able to leave out luggage in a secure room for a few hours whlle we did a bit of sightseeing. On returning to the hotel they made us a complimentary cup of coffee while we waited to walk to our taxi pick up point. Incidentally we are going to join a taxi rank but the girls at reception put us on to Uber which we would never have thought of (not having Uber in Hull) Saved us a fair amount in taxi fares. Overall although we were only there for one night we were hugely impressed with the hotel and staff and if we ever return to Split would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again.

After a Mediterranean cruise, we decided to spend a few days in Croatia. The city of Split looked like the perfect place to spend a few days and we are so glad we chose to come here.
The Kastel 1700 not only exceeded our expectations but impressed us so much that we frequently mention and recommend the hotel when speaking with friends and colleagues.
We could have chosen a more "American" hotel but we really wanted the boutique and European experience and we were not disappointed.
The hotel is more of a Bed & Breakfast with each room being unique and the location couldn't have been better. I still fondly remember the view from our room window of the water.
One thing that is unfortunately becoming a rarity in hotels these days is a staff that genuinely wants you to enjoy yourself. I can't praise the staff here enough. They were some of the most gracious hosts that I've ever experienced over years of travel spanning many countries.
It was a pleasure to see and speak with them.
We enjoyed our stay here so much that on our walk back to the parking to retrieve our rental car and return to the airport, we passed an artist shop and purchased a watercolor of the Promenade which had the Kastel 1700 in it.
We are grateful to the staff for the fond memories of our stay in the beautiful county of Croatia.

We were in Split as a family of 5 for 2 days but only one night the way our flight times fell. We had to depart our boat at 8.30am and arrived at the hotel soon after, we expected to hopefully leave our bags there, but the receptionist allowed us into one of our rooms which was free. The next day we were allowed to keep that same room until 1pm for a late check out which was also very accommodating. We had to wait until a midnight flight so left our luggage in the dining room and the hotel staff arranged for us to get a taxi from there to the airport that evening and another receptionist even walked us up to the meet up point with the taxi. The hotel itself is extremely central, near lovely squares and restaurants, but was quiet at night. The rooms are perfectly adequate, but it was the helpfulness of the staff that warrants my 5 star rating. We really appreciated their help.

We had a disappointing experience and cut our stay short. We arrived to a sweltering room with a finicky air conditioning unit making it very uncomfortable. The beds were small and hard and the worst part was very loud street noise until all hours of the morning. Smoking was permitted just outside our door. Didnt get much assistance from the staff. Location is good but choose another option in Split.

Hello Emma, unfortunately we don't have parking. Since we are in pedestrian area you must leave your car on a public parking lot. Closest one is on the promenade -''Riva'' (street; Obala hrvatskog narodnog preporoda) about 2 min walk from here for price of 20 kn/hour and the next one is between train and the bus station (Obala kneza Domagoja 12), also close to the port approximate, 10 min walk for price of 10 kn/hour or 150 kn/24 hours. Kind regards, Marijana
