Searching for an ideal spot in which to build his impressive palace, 1700 years ago the Roman emperor Diocletian decided to settle on the Adriatic Sea coast which is bathed in Mediterranean sunshine for 270 days a year. Today, the palace represents the historic center of the city of Split and is under the protection of UNESCO. In the course of the centuries from the construction of the palace until today, numerous statesmen and aristocrats, distinguished businessmen and politicians, the elite of the European cultural scene, as well as a number of popular movie and sports stars have been coming to Split for a royal treatment. Since 1921, Park Hotel has been the only prestigious hotel in this part of the Mediterranean to provide such impeccable service and elegant ambiance within the stone walls of its sophisticated establishment. In 2015, Park Hotel, the crown jewel of the hotel industry of the city and the region, was fully renovated and refurbished, once again paving the road for new and even higher standards of supreme and unique hotel services. Its characteristic aesthetic values have been preserved, highlighted by the refined Art Deco style interior of the restaurant, lobby, winter garden and 72 rooms, which feature discreet elements of modern technology. The elegant charm of the hotel is further accentuated by a professional and discreet service provided by the hotel staff. Park Hotel is a story which you want to experience. At least once in your life.

Staying at this hotel just now on a short holiday and found it to be in an excellent location close to restaurants and only a 10 minute walk to the old town.

Rooms are well appointed, the hotel has a lovely pool and is a very short walk across the street to a beach.

The breakfast is excellent where you can enjoy some local Croatian food as well as continental or traditional Cooke breakfast.

We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, especially Nena and Lucija who took care of us at breakfast every morning. The guys on the front desk are also very friendly and extremely helpful offering restaurant recommendations and advice on visiting the local area. The housekeeping staff are very efficient although the evening turn down service is a hit or a miss, some nights out beds were turned down and we received fresh towels the next night nothing.

All in all a wonderful hotel enhanced by extremely helpful and friendly staff.

Thanks for making our stay memorable.

We visited the Hotel Park at the end of July 2021. This was our experience.
We stayed in a sea view suite, consisting of a lounge, bedroom and bathroom. It was excellent in all respects; the bed was very comfortable, the decor tasteful and understated and the shower was great. The front facing windows overlooked the swimming pool area at the front of the hotel and the beach beyond.
The staff at the hotel were, without exception, totally professional, friendly and very helpful.
We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel each day and enjoyed them both very much. Breakfast is a buffet with a wide variety of meats, cheeses, breads etc. on offer. For dinner, we ordered from the bar, and enjoyed beautifully presented salads. The range of the menu could possibly be extended but what is on offer was very good.
The hotel is situated within 10-15 minutes walk of the old city centre and staff are always on hand to assist with directions.
All in all, excellent.
Two small points to be aware of, however.
The hotel has one swimming pool, which is situated outside on the beach side of the building. The pool itself is great but small and there is only room for a very small number of loungers around its perimeter. In other words, in summer months, it would seem a good idea to get to the pool early as otherwise, guests tend to put their towels on the loungers and that’s that. Sometimes loungers were vacated for hours but by leaving towels on them, they were essentially out of bounds to anyone else who wished to sit by the pool. It might be something for the hotel to look into, as one or two guests were monopolising this area somewhat.
The other thing (and not a fault of the hotel) is it’s location. Directly opposite is a beach which, at midnight, turns into a major party rendezvous for hundreds, who gather in the street right outside the hotel or just beyond, on the beach, where the main music is blasted out. It’s pretty full on to say the least! Luckily, our air conditioning cancelled out a large part of this sound but not all - that would ha e been very difficult! The hotel would seem aware of the problem as they provide earplugs gratis next to guest’s beds…

We booked the Park Hotel for the end of our family holiday to Croatia. We already had an amazing cruise along the Dalmatian coast so we were looking forward to chilling out before we return home.

The Park Hotel and especially the staff rounded off our last two days in Croatia with aplomb. The service was truly amazing from the moment we arrived. Every request was carried out timely with reassuring confidence.

The pool and outdoor terrace area was a real hit with the kids. It is wonderfully maintained and the water quality is superb - no red chlorine eyes to be had here.

The rooms are very tasteful decorated and the beds in particular are very comfortable. Everyone in our party of seven reported an excellent night’s sleep. Roberto Cavalli toiletries are provided in the large en-suites. As a sign of the extra lengths the management have gone to provide a truly exceptional service they provide for a shoe shine service where one leaves your shoes in a beautifully lined box for housekeeping to collect! I have travelled extensively globally staying at star 5 international hotel chains and I have never come across this service. Turndown service dispensed with the usual chocolate on the pillow that hotels, if offered, provide and in its place was a scrumptious homemade cookie. The little differences do make all the difference.

Breakfast was also excellent with an extensive hot and cold buffet selection. One can also have other hot dishes to order - my Eggs Benedict were as good as they come. We had lunch on the day we arrived and if there is one small quibble it would be in the portion size of an otherwise very tasty shoulder of lamb cooked suis vide.

Another stand out moment was when the Reception Manager, Marco, provided us with water and snacks for our walking tour of the city.

This was my first time in Croatia and I will be back. I will be sure to book the Park Hotel again when I do return, without a shadow of a doubt.

Stayed here only for one night in July with our family and a couple of friends...total of 8 people. When I requested that the hotel arrange a van to pick us up at the airport, they quoted me a price 230 EUR to pick up and bring us to the hotel. When I checked the market rates for taxi vans, the rate is about 30 EUR!

I was shocked and when I asked the hotel, they were unapologetic and responded saying that they use Mercedes vans and professional drivers, as if this justified the price. We went with a taxi company who came with Mercedes vans and amazing drivers...who charged us only 30 EUR.

This really left me with a bad impression as I feel they were trying to take advantage of us.

Dear Mr. David, Thank You for staying in our beautiful heritage hotel Park Split. The price of 230 euros was for transfer from the airport to the hotel and the next day from the hotel to the marina near the airport. The range for all transfer is around 240 km in total. Best regards Ante Babić

Hotel is nicely located but very close to the public beach and if you choose “ sae side” room you will hear all night noises from those nightly parties.
Hotel is nice but rooms are tiny and when we paid for “ sea side room” , our room was on a second floor with view on parking lot, when we ask for a sea view we got an explanation that sea side does not mean sea views!
Service was very nice at the patio but not at the front desk.
Rooms are so tiny and no closet space whatsoever, we had to keep all suite cases outside.

Our room was good sized, the breakfast on the patio or inside was included and fresh and plentiful . The pool was small but nice. We ordered food and drinks one afternoon, good service. Location was easy to walk to anything but quiet. Very comfortable bed. We arrived from the airport at 12:30 and they let us check in early . Everyone was friendly.

I’m a hotel snob! When I spend my savings going on holiday I like to feel like I’m getting value for money, I love a smile from all the staff, I love a warm greeting from reception, I like a glass of fizz by the pool in a glass not in a plastic cup, I like a clean and comfortable room and a like a good breakfast.

The Hotel Park is definitely 5* and its decor, facilities and the team they have working there are excellent. The rooms are spacious, your room is turned down of an evening with a biscuit and slippers placed beside you bed and water is replaced every day.

The breakfast is plentiful, fresh and the restaurant and outdoor space is a lovely way to start your day.

As I have mentioned, the team are just brilliant and an extra special thanks to Max who looked after us all day with a smile around the pool.

We’ll definitely be coming back.

Many thanks

This is a lovely hotel in general. Staff were happy to help and the rooms were clean. The pool area is small, but these older hotels have limited space and they have done a good job with what they have.

The simple issue is that for over USD 500, our room has a tiny living area - literally enough space for one chair to watch television and one large piece of luggage. That is fine if there is a lovely ambience, but the view through 2 windows is over the residential houses behind. It is also incredibly dark. Staying in the small room looking at car parks makes the value proposition outrageous. There are rooms with views that looked lovely and bright, I would strongly suggest ensuring you have one of these if booking this hotel.

Overall OK experience, perhaps a bit disappointed for a upscale 5 star hotel and will likely consider other hotels in the area when we return to Split.
Positives:
- Location is good with around 10 minute walk to Split Palace and ferry terminal, although the walk to those is not very exciting at all
- Overall the hotel appears clean and maintained (it is an old hotel, renovated retaining that old stuffy feel)
Areas of Improvement:
- Hotel hosts a lot of wedding, while that is nothing new, the noise and chaos it brings is another issue. First wedding during our stay, musicians were testing out their instruments 10 meters away from the pool (around 3PM), which is just ridiculous from noise perspective so no, it was not a relaxing afternoon at the pool with a bottle of wine. Next day, next weeding, this time it was actually outside on the terrace, so if you have a room that is facing sea, you are screwed from noise perspective.
- Service: for a hotel that puts a façade that it is high end 5 start hotel, this area needs some serous improvement. We attempted to get a drink at the pool for no around 30 minutes, waiter was doing everything else, bringing towels, cleaning etc. even after we asked him for drinks. Then when I walked over to the bar to order there (there was already another lady that was complaining about the service there), the bartender and waiter pretty much sent me back to my pool seat and told me that waiter will come over. They didn't know that I speak a bit of Croatian, and they were saying not to allow people to come to the bar and line up there (mind you that there were barely any folks around, few at the pool and couple on terrace to serve). Needless to say, the waiter finally came over to us some 15 minutes later, or full 45 minutes since we first tried to order a bottle of wine from him.
- Breakfast: while it offers most of what you need, although nothing special at all, 2 of the mornings, we found it juice machine broken, empty plates (we waited a long time for food to come despite bring empty), and rotten fruit. Free brealfast is not worth the hype at all
One additional thing, while rooms were clean and enjoyable, there are too many small things that bothered me: broken trash can, half hanging loose magnifying mirror, light bulb out etc.

We decided to book a last minute 4-day holiday to Croatia to celebrate my birthday on 28 August and we were not disappointed. The hotel decor and bedrooms were lovely, a real 5-star outfit. The staff were a particular highlight for us though. They were extremely attentive and were always more than happy to book restaurants/transport and make suggestions for us. The holiday was all the more special as we got engaged on the poolside. Hotel Park's motto is "You are a part of the story" - the hotel and staff will now always be a part of our story. We can't recommend it enough.

Sorry, I messed up the cities. Probably just a car would be best. Or if you are near the Riva, walking isn’t a problem.
