Heritage hotel Santa Lucia, previously known as hotel Central is situated in the southeastern part of Pjaca, the most beautiful square in Split. Pjaca, also known as People’s Square has been the urban and the functional centre of the old city core since the 1770’s, when the very first coffee shop was opened. The coffee shop later became the hotel: both were the centre of the political, the social and the cultural life of the city in the 19th and in the first half of the 20th centuries. The names and the owners of both the coffee shop and the hotel constantly changed. The hotel expanded to the surrounding buildings, thus having become both the example of a multi-volume structure and a unique blend of a variety of styles. At the dawn of the 21st century, the Central hotel who was awarded with golden medal in Lieg in 1927. for comfort and interieur, was deleted from the tourist map of the city of Split. The coffee shop remained, but younger generations are unaware of the important role that it once played in the cultural history of the city. This statue of culture and architecture, opened its doors to the dear guests in April this year. With 35 luxuriously decorated rooms equipped with the best fabrics, amenities and technical equipment represents the great asset to the historic center of UNESCO heritage protected town of Split. We offer to our guests the most amazing experience! Whether we are talking about indulging yourself with a stay in one of our beautiful rooms; breakfast in Secret Garden, fine dining dinner on the La Luce terrace overlooking the roofs of the old town, islands and the tower bell of Saint Dominus surrounded by olive trees or just having an artisan cake with UNESCO protected Fabia coffee in our restaurant with tradition in serving best dishes since 1776., hotel Santa Lucia is THE place to stay while visiting Split. … storytellers since 1776.

I arrived in Split with a reservation for a hotel that turned out to be closed. After 30 hours of travel (missed flight connections), I showed up at night in the rain at the lobby of the Santa Lucia, suitcases in tow, in need of help. The kind and helpful receptionist Duje provided me with a reduced-price room that was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The general manager Nevena offered me food and wine on the house, as I hadn't eaten in nearly a day, and shared information about local wine (which she has a passion for). Everyone at the hotel throughout the next five days provided me with friendly, efficient, helpful service. Vice and Anna at the bar recommended good restaurants, and Yasipa and Marija at reception helped with logistics...others whose names I didn't write down. The location in the central square is ideal, with a large covered patio cafe space right in front of the building to sit and drink or eat. In winter the hotel rooms, square, and bordering streets are quiet. In summer, I suspect noise would be a problem throughout the night.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. Nothing short of perfect. The rooms were modern and clean. You could request your room to be cleaned and towels changed daily. The location was fantastic. Right in the main square so you could come and go to different tourist attractions as you pleased. Most attractions were around 5 mins away maximum. A couple of beaches are around a 15 minute walk about 1.6km to the nearest one with sunbeds and parasols but not all have them. You can rent them for €300 which was needed in the heat. You could also walk two mins to the nearest bus number 12 to go to a beautiful beach near Joe’s bar. It cost €13 and took about ten mins. Everywhere is very accessible and easy to get to. The taxi rank is just around the corner but makesure you get one with a meter as we were overcharged the first day. We suggest visiting the roof top terrace of the hotel as it has beautiful views of the town.
What made this hotel extra special was the staff. Every single one was pleasant and so helpful. A big thank you to Nina and Drago, in particular, who went above and beyond to make our stay so wonderful. We were welcomed by Nina and she was so friendly and kind. She rung the bank for us and bus excursions. Drago helped us meet our taxi on the last day and even walked through the town with us to meet our driver. He made a few phone calls for us and helped us with our luggage. They were both fantastic- five star treatment.
Overall, an amazing time here and we highly recommend this hotel for your stay.

A peaceful and elegant oasis amidst all the craziness! We are so glad to have found this place. The staff go above and beyond to ensure your stay is wonderful. Everything is modern and chic, with a touch of old world. My husband is in construction and critiques everything but he was complementing how beautiful the tile and mill work were throughout the hotel, even in the bathrooms. The bed is comfy and linens are of high quality. Toiletries smells good and rooms and hallways smells good as well. The location can’t be beat and to top it all off, there are functioning fully updated elevators which is rare for buildings inside the Diocletian Palace which is a a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Very classy hotel. The most wonderful concierge, Branimir picked us up at the ferry station and from that moment on, he took great care of our family. He found opera and concert tickets for us, he gave great advise about where to exchange money for better rate, where to eat, etc,.. We stayed at a beautiful room overlooking at the square, very tastefully designed. Double pane windows were great, it was quiet inside the room. The restaurant downstairs is great; we had delicious steak salad and seafood tagliatelle. Both were great. Desserts are amazing, definitely give it a try. Sitting at the Kavana cafe was very nice. All staff were professional. This is our favorite place to stay in Split. We'll be back.

We grow with each review we read about us. To be honest we love those where we can see you enjoyed staying with us, but we appreciate even if there were those saying we missed something out, so we could make it right. Thank you so much for taking time to write these nice words about your stay. We hope to see you soon again! Kind regards from Split.

We could not have been happier with our stay. We were greeted with fresh squeezed orange juice and our room was available ahead of check in time. The hotel is modern but still retains a luxurious and classic feel. Centrally located in the middle of the old town you can walk to all the sights and the promenade. All the staff were excellent but Nina was exceptional. We had a boat tour and then had to catch a ferry early in the morning so we missed breakfast during our two day stay but Nina prepared some food for us to take with us. She also arranged for transport to the ferry port by golf cart for 10 Euros and that was definitely worth it. We had dessert in the restaurant one evening and it was amazing. Of note, when looking for the hotel the sign is very small and easy to miss. You can walk through the Central Restaurant and get to the lobby. They can also meet you to help you with bags because cars are not allowed in this part of the city.

My friend and I have enjoyed the past 3 nights at this beautiful hotel. Meri on Reception greeted us warmly and continued to provide great service for the whole of our stay. Breakfast included was a highlight each morning with a choice of seating options inside or Alfresco on the public square. We chose the later and enjoyed this each day. Renata at breakfast ensured the buffet was kept stocked with all foods and drinks on offer including Prosecco. The location and amenities of this hotel are first class and we suggest you look no further for your accommodation needs. Rooms were spacious and spotless. Oh and the beds are extremely comfortable. The only thing missing was tea and coffee making facilities in room however I’m sure had we asked this would have been provided.

My family stayed for 3 nights in July. The hotel was wonderful but the staff made the stay exceptional. Nina and Draco at the front desk went above and beyond. Little touches like cold glasses of water waiting for guests at the bar, or that they walked us 5 mins to the taxi on check out. We stayed an extra night and had to move rooms and house keeping brought us the charger we had left in the old room. The breakfast buffet was amazing so much choice all the picky eaters in my family were happy. We had dinner in the elegant restaurant the first night and the mussels were perfect. Highly recommend the location is in a beautiful square in old town Split. The rooms were lovely and the beds were perfection! We stayed in 2 deluxe rooms the first 2 nights and the family duplex the last night. All the little touches like robes and slippers and a nice rain shower that was tall, my husband is 6'4 and high enough for him. Thank you to all the staff at for making our stay so special.

An excellent hotel in the centre of the old town, just where you want to be. Our room was a decent size and had a good bathroom and comfortable beds. One of the best things about the hotel was that breakfast ran until midday and could be had either inside in the aircon or outside under an awning in the main square. Breakfast was high quality with a huge choice: lots of fresh fruit, croissants, cheeses, cakes, rolls, hot food, cold hams and fish, …

The hotel itself is newly renovated with gorgeous details and a classy, welcoming feel. It has a roof terrace too with a lovely view over the rooftops which is great for a cocktail at sunset. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly, making us feel taken care of from beginning to end. They helped us with booking taxis, excursions, and even found us a spare adapter. The rooms are of a good size and clean, with lovely bathrooms and effective air-con. The bed was perhaps the comfiest bed I've ever slept on. Location-wise we really can't think of a better spot - right in the heart of the Old Town, on a gorgeous square which is within walking distance of everything we wanted to see (the port, the cathedral, Marjan, meeting spots for excursions etc.) We would absolutely stay again!

Wonderful hotel. Great location inside the city walls. Large, clean rooms with all of the amenities. We were lucky to get a balcony but didn't even use it. Why stay in the room when so much to do in the city? Staff was great and they let us check in early since the rooms were ready. They offered; we didn't even need to ask. They also held our luggage for us when we checked out since we had time for lunch before having to leave Split. We would definitely stay there again, and we recommend it to everyone. There is a bit of an uphill walk from the taxi drop off to the hotel, but if you want to stay in the city center that is your only option. Contact the hotel for luggage assistance. A complimentary buffet breakfast and/or order off the menu was included. There were many options so finding something you like to eat should not be an issue. Have seen some reviews knocking the breakfast. Why anyone would complain about what they offered is puzzling. I guess you just can't satisfy some people. Would highly recommend!!
