We stayed in a private room, so can't comment on what it would be like staying in a dorm.

Positive points:
* Clean
* Wifi
* Air conditioning
* Fantastic location
* Friendly reception staff

Negative points:
* The room was very small, which made it quite difficult to maneuver round with two suitcases.
* Our room was right outside the reception, which meant that it was quite noisy with people coming and going during the night

I wouldn't have liked to stay much longer than we did (3 nights) but for a basic base for sightseeing it was fine.

The hostel is clean, in a good location and the staff were really helpful! We stayed in a room with 3 other people who were lovely and you have a locker each which is handy. Really good value for money, we only stayed for one night but would definitely recommend it.

Stayed for three nights in April in a double private room. The hostel is on a main road literally a couple of minutes walk from Diocletian's Palace, city centre and the waterfront. Our room was actually distinct from the main hostel (though literally next door in the stairwell), so we generally kept to ourselves but the staff were very nice and helpful and other backpackers there very friendly. The room was fantastic: really nice high quality soft double bed, wardrobe & desk, and then a really nice high quality little en-suite shower and bathroom. Overlooked the street but with windows closed (which was completely fine at night in April) it was completely quiet. Perfect place to act as a base to explore Split and the local area and rest in for breaks and at night.

Pros:
- Great value
- Great location
- Very friendly and helpful staff
- Friendly and fun atmosphere with other backpackers
- Great beds and well soundproofed rooms for quiet nights
- Great private rooms
- Free wifi

Cons:
- Rooms overlook the street or back yard (but not noisy with windows closed)
- Some cooking facilities but nothing amazing (but obviously not a problem if you plan to eat the delicious local food!)
- If you have mobility issues the whole hostel is up a couple of flights of stairs

Stayed here for 2 nights in a large, private room. Room was spacious and clean aside from the shower floor not being as clean as it could be.
Staff were lovely and extremely friendly and helpful. Extremely central and yet quiet!

Unfortunately the staff are not there all night and so I was awoken twice by young adults forgetting their keys and needing access - this potentially needs to be a courtesy conversation given to people staying in the dorms to avoid waking the entire building.

Would never recommend anyone stay here. We had a later check in after a 35 hour transit from Australia and were greeted by no one in reception. Some other people staying buzzed us in and informed us that the reception person had left for the day (@9pm). We called a few numbers and eventually got onto someone who was “5” minutes away. 15 mins later he showed us to our room which was not what we booked.
Bathrooms were disgusting and smelt. We cancelled our next reservation there and stayed elsewhere.
Do yourselves a favour and book somewhere else

Hostel Split Backpackers is a very nice hostel. The staffs are very friendly, helpful and speak a really good English. The hostel is clean and the rooms are modern and comfortable. The hostel is close by the train-and busstation and into the city and the beach. It was not my last stay there.

Travelling the Croatian coast mostly walking I reached Split early in the morning and was happily amazed by the friendly people at the reception and the other guests. It is very close to the bay, the old town and to buy groceries. Honestly I just slept a lot but everyone else was having a great time in the dorm as well as the common room.

Great hostel, full of young backpackers so very easy to meet people!
Rooms were nice and clean with a shared bathroom and kitchen so we could cook for ourselves some nights (although the stove wasn't working so we had to cook our pasta in the microwave!)

Perfect location only 10 minutes walk away from the main centre, train station and ferry port. 15 minutes walk away from the beach.

The only negative was that we were told we had to be quiet by half 10 at night! so we had to cut the pre drinks short and go to a bar for a bit as we were kicked out by 11. Wouldn't expect this in a young persons hostel!

Apart from that, nice stay here- would recommend!

Hello Curt, Hostel is located on the 3rd floor and if one of your friends have problems then it is better to go with option to book apartments. Or we can recommend you another hostel which is located on the 0 floor and it will be convenient. Name of that hostel is "Hostel Split".
