The hotel is well known to locals and is seen as superior and high end. The scooters located outside were an excellent touch and I never had to wait more than two minutes for a taxi. There is also a cashpoint on site which is helpful. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and you feel like they are invested in ensuring you enjoy your stay, nothing appeared too much trouble and I’d definitely go back.
Being a little way from the main strip may not be for everyone’s but I greatly enjoyed the nearer access to the better and less crowded beaches away from Bacvice, with Trstenik beach being my favourite followed by Firule beach where the water seems calmer.
Beautiful weather, lovely sites….many trips available and transport very accessible however you wish to travel. The streets around the Palace were breathtaking and there were many wonderful restaurants. Local house wine was delicious and well priced and wonderful to see largely private eating establishments. I don’t usually go for fast food but Pizza Bokkomoro was rated as top 40 in Europe and it didn’t disappoint for a very reasonable price.
There wasn’t much to dislike however the rooftop pool was largely overcrowded but a nice vibe and the space was used well….The shower gels in the spa were far superior to what was in the rooms but again another small detail and not a concern.
Breakfast was functional with a good amount of choice but the attentiveness of breakfast room staff could have been better as every day I had to wait for breakfast items to be topped up.
The walk to the centre was around 20-25 minutes and away from the hustle and bustle, which enables me to boost my step count dramatically. Some will really like that while others may want to be in the centre. It worked well for me.
My girlfriend and I were staying here for a week and the experience we had was perfect from start to finish. The staff there were incredibly welcoming and warm-heated and took tremendous care of us for whatever we needed. The room was spacious and clean and well provisioned, and the views are also spectacular.
I would also recommend the excellent restaurant as the food was exquisite every time we ate there, and very reasonably priced to boot. We were also lucky enough to get a massage while we were staying there and that experience was equally fantastic. In terms if location it was great for us because we were able to take a leisurely stroll along the beach front whenever we wanted to walk into or out of town, which was only about 10/15 minutes away. Additionally, there were numerous excellent restaurants on the door step or a short walk away. The beach front is an excellent place to go for a morning jog, mainly flat with very enjoyable views.
The facilities were superb; roof top pool & bar, indoor spa facilities and a good gym.
If you are looking for a great hotel for a great price then this is your place. Not to be missed!
I was booked into a superior room with no balcony which in theory was completely fine. The room was adequate in size and had just the right amneties to get you through your stay. While in the room, I could hear other guests quite clearly talking. At that time, I thought it was due to poor soundproofing(Boy was I wrong) .
In the morning, when I awoke, I went to the window to catch a glimpse of where my room was facing and this was when I froze. The room next to us(room 106), had a balcony which extended to my bedroom window, providing guests with a clear and full view of my room(107)!!! I couldn't belive my eyes!
I have attached photos of my room from the inside looking out, there is no door and that balcony that you see is not from my room, yet from the neighbouring room which clearly is looking into my room.
Has the owner not yet come up with a solution for this problem?
How is it possible that during check- in I have to sign a GDPR consent form, whilst no consent is needed to look into my room?
What made it even worse was that I probably wouldn't have been as annoyed as I am at this point if the hotel was really full, but due to the fact that staff openly left a list of rooms occupied for anyone to see, I noticed that there were only round 30 rooms booked.
Was is really necessary to accommodate me in this particular room?
It left me thinking that they were testing to see if they could get away with it.
To conclude: I visit Split quite often and will do in the future, whilst Hotel Marvie:"Never more".
On arrival at this hotel we were warmly greeted by a lovely receptionist called Irena, check in was easy and one of our rooms was ready early for us,y daughter had received a room upgrade (suite with balcony and sea view) on arrival at the room our excitement was soon diminished! The light coloured carpet was full of stains as was the chairs in the room, the balcony floor had not been cleaned and the room was in need of a deep clean! Unfortunately this was also the case in our room, very disappointing and certainly not 4* standard, the towels were thin, worn and small. The positives were the size of the rooms, lots of storage and comfy beds with nice white bedding and spectacular views of the sea.
Breakfast is ok, no waiter service and unlabelled food, plates were never cleared and staff didn't look like they wanted to be there which is a shame as usually this can make a big difference to your holiday.
The rooftop pool area was well laid out with plenty of beds and chairs but unfortunately the pool was freezing! There was a bar in the corner but again nobody manning it, such a under utilised facility.
The location of the hotel is great just a few minutes walk to the sea front with lots of bars and restaurants along the way, about a 25 minute walk into the old town with lovely views along the way or a walk along the road adjacent to the hotel also with bars and restaurants along the way. We also used an uber into the old town several times which cost around €5.
We visited Brac island using the ferry, which is a 50 minute crossing costing €4 each way, well worth the visit. Split old town is very picturesque and plenty to do and see and the restaurants are reasonably priced.
Overall Split is wonderful however we were very disappointed with this overpriced hotel. The one asset is Irena who is wonderful.
Boravili smo u ovom hotelu u martu 2020.
The reception staff here are lovely. Irena was one that stood out for us, she always had a smile on her face and was always happy to help.
We didn’t use the spa facilities so cannot comment on them but I’m sure they will be amazing as the hotel was lovely.
The roof top pool has an amazing view! Not many sun-beds but we never had a problem getting one. The bar had a good selection of drinks too.
The rooms are lovely and spacious, the beds are so comfy!
We stayed in a superior room and loved the added extras such as the dressing gown and slippers and the small essential packs on the bathroom side which included cotton wool and cotton buds and also a shower cap each.
There was an option for the fridge to be filled for you before your arrival to be used as a ‘mini bar’ at an extra cost and you can ring for room service. We didn’t use either but it was available to us.
The breakfast had a lovely selection, there were fruit, bacon, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms, sausage, chicken sausage, toast, cheese and cereals/croissants. There was also toast available and fruit juices and a coffee machine.
The bar downstairs was lovely nice indoor area to sit in or outside if you prefer.
I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone thinking about coming to Croatia. It is a lovely place and the hotel is lovely.
This is because I had time to avail of more facilities such as the indoor pool which opens at 0700 and is a wonderful environment for both relaxation and exercise - . It's quiet, ambient and very well designed. I would also recommend the hydro gymnastics sessions which are also made available to guests they are most energising!.
Again we availed of the half board package and both the breakfasts and evening meals were excellent.
Above all I must again praise ALL staff - the receptionists, those who work in the fitness area, the cleaners and the restaurant team. They work so hard to create a great atmosphere for guests.
Quite simply, Marvie is a first class hotel because of then and is an outstanding choice if you are visiting Split.
In terms of dining, the gluten free menu at the restaurant/ room service menu was very good, breakfast was also delicious.
Use of the spa facilities is complimentary, includes steam room/sauna. I'd recommend booking massages/treatments as soon as checking in, otherwise it does book up quite quickly. Rooftop pool also has amazing views, probably better to arrive early to secure sunloungers.
Location wise, hotel is a 5ish minute drive from the Riva/centre of town - the Uber app was very useful.
Overall, highly reccomend a stay here!!!
Our room was light and spacious, with two TVs (one opposite the bed and one in the comfortable seating area). There was lots of wardrobe space, a mini fridge and safe. We also had a welcome gift of mineral water and a pack of local green tea with botanicals.
The hospitality tray was quite basic and no milk or creamer was provided.
The bathroom had a large shower and the vanity unit under the basin had plenty of storage for our toiletries. Bathrobes and slippers were provided, as well as a hairdryer.
The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and the air conditioning was efficient and very quiet so we slept very well.
We didn’t eat in the Da’Mar Restaurant in the hotel but we did enjoy the breakfast which offered a good selection of juices, cereals, fruit, cold meats and cheeses, pastries, bread and pancakes and a variety of hot dishes. We ordered lunch from the menu at the pool a couple of times and the food was good and not too expensive. We did try the bar but it was quite expensive and the Espresso Martini I had was dreadful!
We didn’t use the spa but the facilities looked good and there were a range of treatments available. The rooftop pool and terrace area is quite small but pleasant, with a small bar and lovely view. There were enough sun beds, seating and parasols and towels are provided for guests to use.
We loved the location as it’s outside the city but close enough to walk into.
If you come out of the hotel, walk down towards the sea and turn right you will come to a large tennis club, from where you can access Plaža Firule; a lovely sandy beach, which is quite shallow so the sea is lovely and warm. A path along side the beach will take you around the headland past a variety of bars and restaurants to Plaža Bačvice, which is a larger, sandy beach. Cross the beach and take the path up to the road and past the Hotel Villa Harmony; cross the road and turn right going downhill beside the railway line. As you near the sea, the ferry port will be on your left and you can walk along the dockside all the way to The Riva, the Diocletian Palace and Marjan hill beyond.
If you walk towards the sea from the hotel, go straight across the road and follow it round to the left, you come to the restaurant Velo Misto which serves delicious pizza from its terrace overlooking the boatyard and small harbour.
This hotel suited us perfectly and I would recommend it to anyone who loves the beach and doesn’t mind a bit of a walk to the main attractions of Split.
"The walk into Split Old Town is approximately 30mins. Trstenik beach is close by, it’s really clean and quiet. Good for snorkelling."Read full review
"Don't bother with taxis, old town is very walkable The Tennis Club and beach is definitely worth a visit. Only visit Mobi if you're getting something simple like a pizza"Read full review
