The air-conditioned Gajeta apartments are located in various buildings within a 50-metre radius in the centre of Split. Diocletian's Palace and the Riva waterfront are only about 80 metres away. All Apartments Gajeta have a kitchen or a kitchenette, a dining area, a TV and a DVD and CD player. Bakeries, a supermarket, a bank and the fish, fruit and vegetable markets can be found in the immediate surroundings. The scenic Marjan hill covered with pine forests is only a 10-minute walk away from the apartments.

In my 10 years of being a nomad, I’ve pretty well seen it all. Great accommodation and crappy management/staff. Crappy accommodation and great management/staff. Usually, it’s somewhere in between. Well, I really lucked out at the Gajeta Apartments! Terrific accommodation and terrific management/staff. Accommodation 1. Location: couldn’t be better. A few minutes walk to just about every tourist attraction in the Old Town. A heartbeat away from cafés, restaurants, super markets, currency exchanges, pharmacies, the launderette, the Riva, etc. (Don’t know about parking because I gave up driving years ago.) 2. The flat itself: a budget-friendly 1-bedroom job that suited me to a T. (a) Cozy and warm - especially welcome during the colder days of December, January, and February. Wonderful to walk into a cozy warm environment after nearly freezing to death chasing the winter sun. (b) Quiet - this is one of the very few places I’ve actually heard the sound of silence! Could be due to the double-paned windows and the wooden shutters. (c) Clean - no fixed housekeeping day; it’s negotiable and for me once a week was perfect. (d) Good WiFi. (e) Bed - probably the most comfortable bed on the planet. (f) No ‘scenic view’ from the flat, but then I didn’t come to Split to spend my time looking out the window. 😁😁😁 Management/Staff Jerko - the owner A very soft-spoken, thoughtful, laidback guy; any minor glitches are dealt with immediately. Sanja - receptionist/secretary? (Never did know her official title.) Sanja is the jewel in the crown at the Gajeta Apartments. Has me now wishing all receptionists everywhere else were the same! Yes, most receptionists will confirm bookings and arrange airport pickups, but this little lady seemed to go above and beyond the ‘usual’. Out of many examples, what I appreciated the most: (a) Her prompt and detailed response to my initial email query (April 2021). (b) Her prompt responses to subsequent emails. (c) Meeting me at the apartments upon my arrival (December 2021). It was so nice to be welcomed by a smiling face rather than by a key stuck in a box; a code pad stuck at the entrance to a building; or an automaton that passes for a receptionist. (d) Assisted me in finding a currency exchange and a super market that same afternoon. That was so much appreciated, given that I was dead tired after a 19-hour circuitous itinerary just getting there. (e) Being accessible, if needed. (f) To even seeing me off when I left. Definitely recommend this place!

The 9+ rating is a big lie. The reality is different. We found a dirty apartment. I think that the cleaning lady did not see the apartments since the last century. The biggest problem is that we had a lor of mold in our room. I can not understand how a nother humanbeing could rent such an apartment to a nother humanbeing. Sorry but for me, the rate is ZERO!!!

We stayed here one night in a one bedroom apartment. It was very clean and had everything we needed with great wi-fi and lots of English speaking television programmes. The people were very friendly and helpful. It was in a very good location close to the Riva with lots of local restaurants.

This apartment was centrally located, relatively close to the bus station and the ferry port. The apartment was large with a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen/dining room, and a full bath with a washing machine. This was perfect for our 2 night stay. We were able to shop at the local green market, cook 2 meals a day of our choosing and do our laundry at mid-trip in our 2 1/2 week travel. We enjoyed walking the old city in a variety of directions. The apartment manager owned a cafe/bar and had a rental office within a block from our apartment. This was perfect for our needs and we were able to pay by credit card on our exit which was very helpful and appreciated. This was home away from home.

We stayed 4 nights in the apartment beside the main Reception. It was lovely, modern & pretty well equipped. I would rate it 9 out of 10. The only negatives were that the towels provided were tiny (handtowels), the shower temperature was difficult to control. It randomly would go from hot to cold. And as the apartment is ground floor, there can be some noise from outside so if you're a light sleeper, you might find you dont sleep as well as you'd like although I think that could be common throughout the old town. On the plus side, staff were lovely & helpful & it was excellent value for money.

There are various apartments in a small radius so I can only speak of the one we had (number 2 not sure of street name) Positives - great location close to harbour, shops, bars and restaurants. An especially nice restaurant literally just down the lane! All rooms were clean. The agents always tried to be helpful. Negatives. Parking is in short supply. We were told it cost 90 Kh a day (about £12). What actually happens is that you have to find parking in bays with blue lines. As the hourly rate is so high, you leave the car without paying and each day (except Sunday) you will get a parking ticket costing the 90Kh which you then have to go and pay which is a bit of a fuss but cheapest way! The apartment was quite basic and felt a bit dated but comfortable enough. The air con took some taming (!!) and we never managed to get TV to work. There was a safe but it wasn’t attached to the wall so not that safe!! Also the shower didn’t remain at a constant temperature once you had got it to your liking so there was a lot of squealing as one suddenly got either cold water or very hot water!! The biggest downside for us was not having any outdoor space especially as the room had no views - windows had frosted glass. Of course you will be out for most of the day but for us it felt very confined when we were in the apartment. Generally satisfactory overall

A group of us stayed here for one night before we picked up a yacht charter and this solution was just perfect. We had an attic apartment just off the main thoroughfare in Split (up a few stairs, for those with mobility issues) and there was plenty of room for everybody. Beds were comfortable, amenities as promised (air con, hot water, kitchen) and it was quiet enough at night with the windows closed (once the guy with the saxophone had stopped busking ;-)). Although various crew members arrived from different destinations, the folks at Gajeta were very helpful, passing out keys to the first arrivals and giving the address to later arrivals. We were only here for one night but would recommend this apartment for anything up to 3 or 4 days. It wasn't what you'd call a characterful residence and there wasn't anything like a patio to hang out on (if you were holidaying in Split for longer, it might be nice to have more of that), but for our purposes this was just practical and perfect. Thanks Gajeta!

We booked this place based on the great reviews and pics. Well be careful because the quality of the apartments vary greatly and we are stuck in a tiny crap hole. It would barely fit a couple much less a family. Plus it is on a tiny side street on the top of a 4th floor walk up. Fun times with a toddler. Oh and we are pay 160 usd to stay less than 24 hours. I don't write negative reviews often but this place is a gigantic scam.

We stayed one night as a family of four. Really great location and well priced. Staff were so very friendly and check in was good. Only two areas for improvement: 1. Wifi and tv in the apartment did not work; and 2. Under the beds were not cleaned and there was rubbish left there by the previous tenant

We were going to be arriving just after 9pm & the staff waited for us! So helpful & friendly. Very good at communicating & making sure we had what we needed. The first apartment looked ok but one of our traveling companions had a reaction to the carpet so the next morning we were moved to a newer apartment on the 4th floor. It was bright & clean. You will need to walk up 4 flights of stairs but they were wide & easy to navigate. Great location & reasonably quiet (construction next door but were we up & out early exploring the city). The room had everything we needed & with a few tries we figured out the washing machine & found the outside close line.
