This place certainly deserves the acclaim it has garnered over the years. We had the Grand Suite over an extended period and it was delightful on many levels: comfortable bed, large bathroom, separate dressing room with jacuzzi, a spacious living room (that suffers a bit from faded fabrics), and access to a good restaurant. Unfortunately our stay included a weekend and that’s when the experience went south. Nice places have become victims of destination weddings and other special events. We experienced three such events over Saturday and Sunday. Two at the Panza Verde and another at a neighboring property that was the most egregious of the three. The Grand Suite is ground zero for the noise. The event spaces in the hotel include the rooftop terrace (literally on top of the suite) and the restaurant (with music) immediately under the suite. Peace and quiet was replaced by bongos and loud group laughter, and in the case of the neighboring property on Saturday night, fireworks and a rock band. We don’t urge you not to visit Panza Verde. Just avoid weekends unless you are a guest at one of these events.…
My husband and I normally stay in Airbnb's but decided to spend a little extra and stay at this beautiful hotel we have walked past many times in Antigua. We'd always heard good things about it so we decided to stay. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere was welcoming and fresh and clean. The room wasn't huge but it fit us perfectly. It was clean and beautiful and had it's own little patio. Everything was high quality from the room to the breakfast. We would definitely like to stay again.
We loved this gorgeous hotel. We wanted a hotel that included breakfast and it did not disappoint. The sweet lady in the breakfast room made me feel like she was a nurturing grandmother. We had room 3 which was their economy room. It was lovely but small. Its attached patio made it comfortable. The bathroom is definitely for one person. We did not find it noisy even though it is next to the restaurant. We were happy to have this budget friendly room option that gave us the affordability to stay here. BTW we viewed their two top tier room and they were amazing. Plus we really enjoyed the music they had in the evenings. A definite bonus.
Stunning colonial-style property in Antigua. The perfect place to stay if you're exploring Antigua. Easy walking distance to the centre of Antigua. The staff were very welcoming and the breakfasts were DELICIOUS.
This restaurant/hotel is stunning in its ambience, service and food. We ate in the courtyard wanting to talk and not listen to the local music. The food was delicious -- well season and varied ... I enjoyed lovely perfectly prepared porkchops which had been proceeded by a fabulous rendition of a portobello mushroom/salad. Deserts were copious choices of traditional Guatemalan pastries and more modern choices (tiramisu). The wine list is excellent and varied - including good choices by the glass. I have not stayed at the hotel ... maybe a later visit!
