This budget place in a quite area very close to the city centre is a lovely jewel. Yummy breakfast at the terrace with amaizing views over volcano Fuego, always active with smoke and ashes. Irving was superhelpful and flexible in arranging transportation from Antigua City airport. He also assist us to organize trips to Pacaya and Acatenango with nice local companies. Ask Irving for authentic restaurants in Antigua, all his recomendations were really good. Thanks a lot Irving! Mireia & Pablo
Maison Bougainvillea is a beautiful, boutique hotel on the outskirts of Antigua, Guatemala. Its' location keeps it out of the noise and bustle of city center. You can safely and easily walk from one end of the city to the other (about 1.4 miles/2.2 km) (or take a taxi or tuk tuk). The hotel interior beautifully maintains the Spanish Baroque appearance required of all of Antigua's building exteriors! The full kitchen and self-serve laundry are really convenient! The rooftop terrace is beautiful and relaxing and on clear days you can easily see Volcan Agua, Volcan Acatenango, and Volcan Fuego along with nice views of Antigua. Maison Bougainvillea was a great value! But what makes Maison Bougainvillea even more special are the very friendly, helpful, and accommodating owner, Irving -and- the great breakfast cook and caretaker, Wendy!!! I'm pretty particular and some people would say critical at times but I truly enjoyed my stay at Maison Bougainvillea and definitely would recommend it to others!…
This is a lovely little hotel with comfortable rooms and a roof terrace with spectacular views. Owner, Irving, is a really nice young guy who is always there for his guests with advice, a smile and a helping hand. Breakfast and coffee are served each morning. The accommodation is excellent value for money and I would certainly recommend Irving's place to anyone looking for good quality budget accommodation in Antigua
About a 15 minute walk into the old town, this place is incredible value. It is a gorgeous colonial style building and the rooms are very clean and quaint, with a nice bathroom and hot shower. There is a incredible view from the rooftop where you can have breakfast and watch Fuego volcano erupting in the distance. We stayed here before hiking Acatenago and when Irving, the owner, heard we didn't have a lot of warm clothing, he generously offered us some of his things! We would have frozen up there without them! Irving speaks fluent English and goes above and beyond to help you however he can.
The hotel is a little bit outside of the city center, but not more than 10 min to walk. It has a rooftop with a great view on the volcanos Acatenango, Fuego and Aqua. The host is so friendly and funny and he has good advises for Antigua and the rest of Guatemala. Every day you get a different breakfast with fresh fruits and a good coffee. The shower is a little bit cold, but who cares, you will wake up faster..
