Always love not being a part of what I say is hotel madness. By not choosing to stay at the main facility. Having all adult children, the uncontrolled screaming and energy burning of running around the lobby, is not for me. That being said we choose detached cabins or condos. We stayed in on across from the main hotel on... More

Very nice facilities for a conference. The staff was friendly. They did have a couple of mishaps, although nothing detrimental. The catering was better than most conference hotels I've visited. We didn't go to all the restaurants. We would say that The Grille was better than the Jack's Sports Bar.

We stayed for three nights and had a great experience.. Check in was simple and the entire staff was very pleasant. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants so I can't comment on those. We waled through the shops, very pricey but that was to be expected. We used the gym facilities daily. Some of the equipment could use... More

We had a great trip to Traverse City. The hotel concierge was very helpful in arranging flowers and balloons for me to surprise my husband with for his birthday dinner at Aerie restaurant. Only bad part about the hotel is the Sweetwater restaurant. Horrible service and food. We've been staying at this hotel each year for over 10 years and... More

The Grand Traverse is over rated. It might have been the place to stay in the early 80s but it's so outdated and there is no effort underway to update it. We stayed in the hotel area which is less expensive then the towers, but still paid $259/night group rate + $14.95 resort fee. I have no clue what the... More

I recently stayed here on business and was pleasantly surprised. It seemed rather far out from Traverse City and many people had reviewed it as past its prime. (Some of those reviews might have been from people who stayed in rooms that hadn't been remodeled and/or were not located in the tower). However, my family and I found it to... More

After walking in our stay looked promising, however that's where it ended. We were directed to our room which seemed like we were headed to the basement. The halls were very outdated, dingy, and dark. The rooms were no better, being very outdated and the bathrooms showed this especially ( mold in shower and water stains on ceiling). For the... More

I was here for a conference at this hotel. After checking in i didn't get very good instructions on getting to my room, i wasn't the only trying to figure out elevators and floor numbers. Shops were mostly closed when i got done with my conference at end of each day. Same restaurant to eat, you really need to rent... More

It is a decent place to stay and was cutting edge 25+ years back. The downside is this place is not aging all that well. It lacks the nostalgia of many hotels in the area. If you've been to South Lake Tahoe, there is a similar vibe to some of the casinos there. If you like to golf then stay... More

Each year we attend the Traverse city Cherry Festival. And every year we stay at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. It has become our family tradition. Every year my husband makes the reservations usually in February or March for our July stay. Because my husband was parking the car no one was available when we drove up and there... More
