This hotel in incredible, it’s like staying in a Hallmark movie. It’s in the center of town and everything is right there, easy walk from the ferry. The staff members are extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are beyond clean and modern with a sophisticated eclectic touch. Must have a drink, appetizer or dinner at the attached Sister Ship restaurant.
At this time of year I think about the Christmas Stroll which kicked of today on downtown Nantucket. Christmas is a very special time of year on the island and the Stroll brings out the Best of this holiday season! For this review I am thinking back to my stay at the Faraway in August 2022. In my view the hotel complex is well situated in the center of town, so this provides for an intown Nantucket location and experience for restaurants and shopping. At the time of our stay, the hotel was undergoing some restoration, but is spite of that the hotel staff was very accomodating to our needs and provided some special attention. I look forward to returning to Nantucket in 2023 and staying at the Faraway.
Don't be fooled by the Instagrammable exterior. The customer service is so poor, $800+ per night is highway robbery. There are MANY better hotels on Nantucket, do not stay here! We tried to reschedule our dates due to a medical issue and I could not get through to anyone at the hotel, only could get through to what sounded like a third-party, offshore customer service provider. Once I finally got through to someone at the hotel after calling back several times, they not only refused to accommodate our request to modify our dates, the man on the phone was so condescending, confrontational, and lacking in human decency...he even raised his voice with me. Not 4 star, $800 per night service at all. Such a horrible experience and money down the drain!
Overall our experience was average, the plus points were location, we were upgraded and the staff were friendly. The overwhelming downside was the distinct lack of house keeping, we were staying 6 nights, we had to ask for clean towels. When housekeeping finally arrived it was late in the afternoon and we had returned from days out and were hoping to relax, when we said that the housekeeper seemed pleased that we didn't want to vacate the room and in her words said "thats great it saves me a job". House keeping in any hotel and the Faraway was not busy during the week, should be an easy win, early action - beds made, rooms tidied and fresh water provided - sadly the easy win was not achieved and it was a massive own goal! Great shame!
Visited the Faraway and cannot say enough about the staff, especially Leighanne and General Manager, MarcAnthony. My time was beyond my expectations having stayed throughout the island, the Faraway is located in the center of Nantucket, the check in process was quick and efficient with touch screen counters easy to use and our room was overlooking the garden and restaurant, was quiet and well kept (one would expect some noise being in the center of town :) . Leighanne was so understanding and accommodating during our stay I simply could not rave enough on her experience and assuring the time at Faraway was one of the best from greeting upon arrival for early check in, upgrading our accommodations, and providing meeting space in Sistership their signature restaurant. She was extremely informative. Even when the airport and boats stopped running, and we were stranded on the island due to a severe storm after checkout the staff continued to be accommodating to our needs. The price is so reasonable for Nantucket and the location is hard to beat. I would recommend the Faraway to others looking to stay in he downtown area. Thank you for being so accommodating.…
We visited for three nights, booking a room facing the courtyard and restaurant on the first floor. The courtyard played music at all hours and fairly loud. That wasn’t the biggest issue- the worst being customer service. Completely lacking. Check in process is a mess, they seem severely understaffed, and their preferred way of communicating is via text, which no one responds to. On our third day we requested house keeping- and no one came. We were told they were busy with checking people out. Meanwhile our garbage is overflowing, we needed towels etc. For the amount you pay to stay here, go elsewhere where they will include breakfast and far superior service. We will not be returning.
I stayed at Faraway this weekend with my husband and year old daughter to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel is high-style and a great deal of thought has been put into the aesthetics down the the "signature scent" candle and the matchbooks in the bar. The rooms are expensive but quite nice, and the common areas are beautifully designed. However, there is a major management problem that made our stay quite disappointing. On Saturday night, the restaurant and courtyard were rented for a private event (wedding reception I think). There was a very loud DJ playing EDM that SHOOK our room and prevented me, my husband, and our 1 year old from sleeping. Nantucket has a noise ordinance barring amplified music post 10PM. When I spoke with the manager, they said they couldn't do anything since the space had been rented out - after paying nearly $1k per night, I would argue that I too have rights to be able to sleep? They said the music was scheduled to go til 1AM and I called the police around 1215 and they came and shut it down. Zero respect for your paying hotel guests and good luck sleeping. The shower in our room had no lip - apparently the drain didn't drain and I got out of the shower to discover that the water was not only all over the bathroom but had flooded into the bedroom and onto my suitcase and latop. Thanks to poor maintenance and design, I have some damaged clothing and a ruined laptop. In summary, a beautiful hotel but really poorly run. They need to pay more attention to the basics. Would not stay here again or recommend.…
Cute place and a great location in town. Unfortunately they play music so loud in the restaurant that it's very disturbing in the rooms. We have two rooms here and both sound like a disco. It's great music with lots of bass, great for a dance club, definitely not appropriate for a environment where people are trying to relax and rest. I would not recommend if your looking for a place for a nice relaxing stay
Stayed at Faraway in the off season with another family. My friend had an issue with her room - so she was immediately moved to another one. Rooms were beautiful. Service was great - very accommodating in helping us with our luggage so we could shop for a few hours before the ferry left. Fantastic location. Was very safe. Kids loved it. We will return for sure!
The Faraway Hotel was a dream. Rooms were great but truly the experience was exceptional. We are extensive travelers to high end resorts and loved a few specific things. First of all, we rented a keep to go to the beach and i asked if they had beach chairs, figuring they didn’t because thy are an in-town hotel. Not only did they have chairs, towels but umbrellas too. Not many places offer these amenities. Also they communicate via text, which made for great but non intrusive communication. The restaurant, bar and everything was top shelf for a reasonable (Nantucket in the summer reasonable) price. They have an out door courtyard that was great for causal hanging out in the am and for drinks at night. Would stay there for sure again.
