Perfect stay at this lovely boutique inn! We were a little early however the wonderful staff were able to accommodate an early check in for us. Location is great...just a few minutes from the ferry and main town area. Breakfast is served around the corner at The Regatta and there was plenty of yogurt, smoked salmon and berries. Would definitely stay here again.

The place was about 5 minute walk from the ferry so if you don’t want to take your car this is ideal . We got there around three and our room was ready . On the first floor is ideal if you can get it as we were right off the lounge which had a water kettle , coffee pod machine and some snack bars . Freezer had Italian ices . The room was small and my only complaint was that the closet/ rack was too low to even hang a suit jacket . The bathroom is very nice and modern and the room had easy to use climate control . In the morning you can also go around the corner to the Regatta , a sister property, for bagels and coffee and smoked salmon. The thing that made this so pleasant was the staff . Kayleigh, Rachel,Bella and Alicia were wonderful and helped us with everything we needed . Storing luggage, directions , and always with an incredible upbeat attitude. Would stay again for sure. For food and wine festival it’s an ideal location.

The Chapman House was our choice for a 1-night stay following a holiday weekend. Our room was small but very nice, and the older Inn nicely updated. Our shower was really lovely with an overhead rain shower and a hand-held spray. Toiletry products offered were very nice and the bed linens were very comfortable and of high-quality. The breakfast was served at their other property around the corner - The Regatta Inn and was well-staffed and nice. Unfortunately, we were dissatisfied with their lack of communication. Our questions via email after booking were not responded to, nor were our phone calls answered. Once we checked in, there really was no staff around - we were on our own. We wanted to reserve their offered EV 'The Grey Lady' for a shuttle ride, but due to poor communication services and limited staffing, we did not find this available. The Inn enjoys the older charm of uneven floors, and our bathroom was very uneven by about 1" in maybe 18" across - you felt vertigo at times if you didn't pay attention. Sadly, they double charged us for our stay. We pre-paid upon booking, which was a requirement as part of the 1-night stay. After checking out, our credit card was charged again the full amount. After numerous attempts to reach them via email, phone and through the booking process, they again did not respond. I disputed the duplicate charge, and it has yet to be resolved at the time of this review. Overall, we would not recommend any of the Nantucket Collection properties due to this outrageous oversight.

The hotel itself is lovely, but I would stay at the resorts other property next time (the regatta) It felt like we were the red headed step children in the Chapman. The breakfast wasn’t nearly as good (you can walk over to the Regatta but we were not told this by staff) staff was not on site to check us in, there was a smoke alarm beeping in the hall the entire time & no one addressed it. We had trouble checking in & called the main number, no answer. The regatta has porcelain coffee cups & very nice tea sets, the setup at the Chapman is much cheaper (paper cups, store bought tea bags) The location was great & we loved the room, but I wouldn’t stay in the Chapman, I would go for the Regatta.

My friends and I just finished an absolutely spectacular weekend at Chapman House for Labor Day. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the hotel and you would be remiss to not stay here. The location is incredible for walking around the town and they even run a shuttle to the beach if you request it. They have a fridge full of regular & Sparkling water which I'm sorry to say my friends and I emptied many times. Every morning they have a complimentary continental breakfast which we enjoyed on the patio outside. I spent a lot of time out on that patio - you can tell it's all brand new Serena & Lily furniture. They also provide beach chairs and beach bags with towels to take. I swear they thought of everything. After I got home, I purchased the products they had in the bathroom... I loved them so much (Malin+Goetz). And they have robes & slippers that you can use as well (the robes were so nice). The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The staff was beyond accommodating for any and all problems we had and we loved playing with Stella when she was at the hotel. You can tell this hotel is run properly and has a great management staff behind it that has thought of everything - so thank you for a fabulous weekend!

Okay, seriously the Veranda / Chapman / Arbor House Collection is promoted as a Boutique Hotel and it is NOT. It is an old B & B with little space; a lack of adequate hot water for all guests & other amenities yet the charge is what one would expect of an upscale boutique hotel. Breakfast was good; grounds lovely but rooms are below average for price. We tried to move to larger room because original room booked a year out had no closet or space to unpack clothes & 1/2 bath for $500 one night but we had to repack and move back to original room because alarm was going off in second house and staff could not figure out how to shut off? Floor lamp didnt work so we couldnt see what was in our luggage and husband kept hitting head on sloped ceiling (he is 5’10”). The service and staff were somewhat accommodating - they carried our luggage each room move, however, lamp was removed from our room and never returned with a 3 night stay; we requested a taxi to shuttle us and our luggage to the ferry that never arrived - the taxi company said they had no record of a call and we scrambled to get to the ferry on time. Our friends room wasn’t available first night; toilet plugged on their arrival and no hot water until the second day. Good grief; it was not the relaxing stay we anticipated. This was our first NE destination & we were so excited; but we were really disappointed at the rate versus value for our stay - we travel frequently and are all easy-going. To say it was overpriced is an understatement. We would not recommend this establishment; it was not comparable to any other place we had the pleasure of visiting while on this trip - 5 other locations were all above our expectations. Would recommend The Lark establishment also in Nantucket based on our experience in Newport, RI. Best wishes for a memorable trip...

Response from Carl C, General Manager at The Chapman House
Responded Dec 30, 2018
We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the relaxing stay that you anticipated. You are correct in stating that The Chapman House is a B&B; we have three properties, including a boutique hotel, a cottage and a B&B - as clearly stated on our website. We invite you and others to reach out in advance; we would be delighted to work with you in selecting the style of experience that best suits your expectations. Sincerely, Carl

We were there in off season so the dining area in our building was closed...walk in the rain to the main house for breakfast, yikes! They did have a coffee area in the same building area and nice sitting areas. Our room was extremely tight and the bathroom bizarre. I spoke with management about it's low quality of a commode room but honestly there's not too much they can do about space. Be aware the pictures of the room show the nice bed not the ridiculously teeny bathroom (it is hard to fit on the toilet). So choose your room with good information. That said, the breakfast was multi-course and well done. Newspapers out early near a fireplace and wine complimentary in the afternoon. We liked that it was walking distance to the activities and restaurants but there is no off street parking if you rent a car. They give you a permit and you find a spot on the street...good luck. We enjoyed the hospitality but I would not select the same room.

Response from TheVerandaHouse, General Manager at The Chapman House
Responded Oct 9, 2018
Yes, bathrooms are small at The Chapman House - which is too often the case when the loo is carved out of an existing room when transforming a private home into B&B. However, we are glad that you enjoyed the breakfast and amenities that we have to offer. Next visit, be sure to choose Room 37 for a spacious bath setting.

We stayed at The Chapman House for 2 nights after the Columbus Day weekend. Great location - we walked, with our bags, from the ferry dock and were very close to the shops and restaurants. We arrived early but our queen room was ready and we checked in around 1:00 PM. Each day, we enjoyed the home made chocolate chip cookies that were available late in the afternoon, as well as the complimentary wine pour next door at the Veranda House (same owners) before we headed out for dinner. Continental breakfast each day was quite nice, including fresh blueberry muffins. Overall, a great experience and we would definitely return!

This b&b is great. The rooms are on the small size, but everything else is great! Perfect location, quiet but close to town. Great breakfast and warm cookies in the afternoon! Helpful staff! Great furnishings and vibe!
