The Nantucket Hotel & Resort has garnered acclaim for its meticulous cleanliness and well-maintained rooms, with guests consistently impressed by the property's upkeep. While the majority of travelers enjoy the comfortable and elegantly appointed rooms, some have questioned the value for the price. The staff's friendly and professional service, alongside a plethora of high-quality amenities such as spa services and convenient transport, frequently receives high marks. Although the hotel's atmosphere is generally celebrated for its charm, there has been a rare critique regarding the decor. Its location is often lauded, offering easy access to downtown and popular local spots.

We returned to the Nantucket Hotel and Resort to celebrate our first daffodil and the retirement of my sister and again the Nantucket Hotel delivered one of the most memorable experiences we can remember. We stayed in the 3 bedroom Captain Cromwell Suite and it was immaculate and impressive as all our stays in other suites. It provided a home like feeling great for family or couples traveling together plenty of room but cozy.

Let’s start from the beginning this weekend was in the planning for sometime due to the 2 events we were planning on celebrating. We wanted to incorporate my sister Karen’s retirement where Nantucket is where she started her work career over 40 years ago with the daffodil weekend. Next thing I knew we had dates locked for the Nantucket hotel and the plan was in action.

Out of the blue I received a call prior to our stay from John Vecchio who we got to know on our prior stays at the Nantucket to create a plan of things needed for our arrival that there goes to show the character of this establishment. John delivered outstanding extras for our arrival that make such a difference to people. John V is an absolute amazing person with an incredible personality he made a big impact on all of our stays at the Nantucket anyone who stays at the Nantucket always mentions John V Name. Thank u John for an unbelievable celebration which we will never forget.

We had dinner at Breeze which is the restaurant in the Nantucket and would like to acknowledge some staff there. First I would like to say the food and atmosphere is amazing at the Breeze the quality and presentation is second to none shout out to the Chef who we never actually met. Ana who we got to on our prior stays at the Nantucket has such a great personality and attitude she truly loves her job and provides top notch attention we had so much fun seeing her again. We spent Thanksgiving and New Years at the Nantucket with her top of the line and she was there with us the entire celebrations. Ana thank u so much we can’t wait to see u again. Wayne and Frederick are also such great staff members with just great personalities and incredible work ethics we would like to thank u both for your service.
Katie is the Food and Beverage director and is a big reason why we started coming to the Nantucket from the beginning. She was involved from our Nantucket Thanksgiving to our New Years Dinner and Gala Kate was able to fit us in for both with such short notice. On our last stay she informed us about how great daffodil weekend was and that started the whole thing in motion for our recent stay. Thanks Kate….

John S who we really like to thanks for all our stays at the establishment he has such a warm personality and show such interest in all aspects of our stays From picking us up at the ferry to greeting us at the front desk to our New Years Gale an incredible asset to the Nantucket establishment with a great attitude. Thanks John……
Nicole was so helpful when I made the call to start the process of securing room that would work for our Visit she was so knowledgeable on all aspects of rooms with such great personality after 2 calls the room was secure. Benny and Alonzo are. 2 other staff that stand out always happy to see u return from your day and night out on the town in Nantucket always provides attention to all and will go the extra mile to get u things.

My family and myself would truly like to thank Fulya. She has provided such attention and interaction in all our stays at the establishment. She is truly one of the faces that make us feel right at home like we our family at the Nantucket. She is an incredible asset and an amazing person it was great seeing u again and can’t wait to our return.

General Manager ( CARLOS ) Has been part of our stays at this establishment and has displayed incredible leadership qualities that is hard to find these days. In all our stays he been hands on in all aspects of the hotel. He greets all Guests like family at the hotel that is extremely rare and hard to come by. Every time we would have interaction he would see how things were going and did we need anything. Due to the volume of guests coming through the hotel he remembered everything about our past stays which is incredible. Carlos my family and I would like to thank U and your staff at the hotel for this past visit for Daffodil and my Sisters Karen’s retirement visit she was speechless about the amount of attention that was given to us from the entire staff. This is one weekend we will never forget that to the Nantucket Hotel.

We would like to thank owner Mark Snider for developing such an incredible Hotel on Nantucket and putting together such an incredible team. We had the pleasure of meeting him on 2 of our trips and was amazed on how much time he took to speak with every person he came in contact with.
My sister was incredibly thankful for his kind words about her retirement and the interaction that we were given she was amazed at the establishment since this was her first visit.

Finishing up this review of the Nantucket Hotel the only Negative thing on this trip was the day we departed the Nantucket Hotel and heading back home. The Nantucket provides so much more than any other hotel we ever stayed out with kid friendly things and other actives u can see why they have the crown of number one , second to none in our books. It’s just a wonderful place to stay and be treated like family from arrival to departure. See u soon…

THANKS AGAIN TO ALL STAFF AT THE NANTUCKET . EVELYN AND RICHARD ( LONG ISLAND)

I arrived to Nantucket for the first time ever. With beautiful weather in October… we were excited to enjoy what the island had to offer.

As soon as we stepped into the hotel, I felt like I was taken care of. Fulya & George greeted us and made us feel at home instantly.

The room was so clean and I really felt special with the handwritten note welcoming me to the hotel.

The pillows were fluffy and the bed was really cozy. You can definitely tell that a value of the hotel was sustainability. They encouraged you to use your water bottle with the filtered water (I love the sparkling), reuse towels, the AC turned on when you entered the room…also, the refillable Momo products were lovely!

Everyone had great recommendations for biking, lunch and dinner. Luke served us and always took care of what we needed!

We only ate breakfast at the hotel- but they served ORGANIC coffee which is so special & hard to find! The fruit was fresh and very consistent.

My favorite part of the hotel was the gym. The sauna, gym and hot tub complimented the daily bike rides.

The hotel was walkable to everything and we really enjoyed how accommodating all the staff, the location and accessibility of the town was!

I will most definitely be back!!

The entire staff was friendly, extremely helpful, always going out of their way to make our stay trouble-free and comfortable. The facilities were wonderful, especially the gym and adult pool, which I had to myself every morning. Kudos to everyone at the front desk, day and evening. My only complaint would be the cramped room which had very little space to unpack. For my money, I would have ditched the Murphy bed under the tv and provided more storage space. Had our stay been longer, it would have been a problem. I would have also preferred having a walk-in shower rather than a tub/shower but perhaps other available rooms had them.
All in all, I would strongly recommend the hotel, for convenience to town, facilities, good food, and excellent knowledgeable staff.

My low score reflects the quality of our room (in this case Room 12) for the price paid ($1600 per night). While I realize I’m paying a room price reflective of high season on Nantucket, the room was unacceptable for the rate charged. Other than the bed, there was 1 chair to sit on. Windows couldn’t be opened because of immobile wood slat blinds which have to be kept closed for privacy because the room is adjacent to pool deck so that someone on a pool lounger is literally leaning against the window. Other than the Smeg fridge (empty), Frette robes, and the TV, decor is unprofessional and slapped together including a blue plastic recycling bin
that is used in offices. No soap dish for the wrapped soap, rough towels, poor lighting, and ugly, dated tile work, again reminiscent of an office bathroom. Again, remember we are paying $1600 per night. No minibar, no spoons for the coffee maker, a hole in the cotton blanket on the bed. Really depressing.

While the gym space is large, there’s no where to stretch, and it’s not clean.
My last complaint goes to the concerige who started to argue with me when I complained about the fact that my husband’s email about dinner reservations was acknowledged,
but
not followed up on. Never argue with the client! The bar and the restaurant are a grade above the room and the food was lovely!
However, we will never return to the hotel unless the rates match the rooms.

Response from Carlos Castrello, General Manager at The Nantucket Hotel & Resort
Responded Jul 16, 2024
winnienyc Thank you for your recent review of the Nantucket Hotel & Resort. We sincerely apologize for the late response. The Nantucket Hotel's Team would like to apologize if your accommodations were not up to your satisfaction and were below our standards. We also apologize if our concierge services team did not meet your expectations. We pride ourselves on friendly, warm, and efficient service for our guests, and it is disappointing to hear that we fell short in this instance. I have addressed your concerns with the team and used your comments as a training opportunity to ensure we are always serving our guests with the best attitude and competence. I have also spoken to our housekeeping director regarding your comments about the hole in the blanket, and she has removed it. We are incredibly disappointed that it was in your room upon arrival. Regarding the room's design, I have engaged and forwarded your comments to our design and operations team so we can immediately look at improving the décor and overall feel of the room. I have also spoken to our club manager regarding your comments about the cleanliness, and they will take the necessary steps to ensure it is always cleaned and neat so you can find areas to stretch comfortably. I would like to speak with you regarding your experience. Again, we are disappointed we have let you down, but we would like to have the opportunity to show you that we can and will do better on your next visit to the Nantucket Hotel. Sincerely, Carlos Castrello General Manager

Based on the mostly positive reviews of this hotel, my family booked a 3-night stay here in August 2022. Obviously we paid a premium for a stay in August on Nantucket, but we felt confident given the location and reputation for guest experience that this hotel was the best option for us visiting for the first time on Nantucket. We were immediately disappointed with the size of the room as we had booked 2 double beds and were presented with a double bed and a “pull out couch” that the staff said was of the same size of a double bed. We also had to completely reconfigure the room to make room for the couch to be pulled out into a “bed.” We asked for a different room, but apparently the hotel was completely booked so there were no alternatives.

The first afternoon I took a shower and the bathroom floor became immediately flooded so we had to have staff help clean up all the water and a repairmen came and stated that the shower door had been put on incorrectly but fixed it enough for us “to make it through.” Hard to believe at $1500/night.

After these initial complaints, front desk reps said they would confirm “room price adjustments”with the manager but upon checkout there were no reductions in room price or any mention of the situation. After I inquired about status, we were only offered a complimentary breakfast which seems minimal given the overall price of rooms.

On the positive side, the bellmen at the hotel were very friendly and always willing to take my family to various restaurants on Nantucket. The gym on location is very nice, which my son enjoyed.

We have stayed a few times at the sister hotel located on Martha’s Vineyard (Winnetu), which we found to be a much better value and overall experience.

If you want to be treated like family by wonderful people in an impeccably run and maintained hotel in one of the most beautiful settings you can imagine, then The Nantucket Hotel and Resort is for you! It starts at the front desk - actually, it starts at the ferry, when you're picked up by a friendly driver for the very brief drive to the hotel. When you walk up the stairs, across the porch, and into the charming-yet-elegant lobby, you'll be greeted warmly and professionally by the front desk team. If you're lucky, Fulya will be there to give a smile, or a hug!, and get you checked in. The rest of your stay will be more of the same - great people, great service, and a great place to spend some time. Kudos to Carlos and his amazing team on helping create such great memories!

As always the Nantucket Hotel exceeds all expectations and proves to be the very best of the best! This amazing place is not just a hotel - it s a wonderful family of dedicated management and staff who go over and above for every single guest to make sure every stay is idyllic and restorative. My family has visited this beautiful establishment for over a decade and every year I think it can't get any better, and then lo and behold it does. Carlos & Fulya are an amazing team and with Carlos at the helm becoming the General Manager, the hotel has taken on an indescribable loveliness, comfort and pizzazz. Carlos is such an excellent leader and is clearly well respected by his staff. Fulya makes everyone feel welcome and is there from sun up to sun down treating every guest as if they are royalty. Her attention to subtle details and ability to come up with spectacularly creative ideas make her the gem of the resort. She is thoughtful, considerate, caring, kind, generous with her time and so pleasant and genuine with the guests. Of course Wayne, Frederick, Omar and the men of the resort add such joy and happiness to every visit. Always generous with a smile and an engaging conversation - and muscles to go along with their jovial personalities! The food is incredible but it's the men behind it that make it grand. It is such a joy to spend a fall vacation at the Nantucket Hotel. There's nowhere I'd rather visit! Thank you to the whole lovely and wonderful staff for giving my family time to reconnect and have fun!

Our stay at the Nantucket Hotel exceeded all expectations, and it won't be our last visit. Bringing my dog along added a whole new layer of joy to our experience. We found our tranquil haven in one of the charming cottages at the pet-friendly Nantucket Hotel, strategically nestled beside the main building. It addressed a common issue faced when traveling with pets – the shared walls and common areas that sometimes result in noisy neighbors. Staying in one of these cottages felt like having our own private retreat, allowing both my dog and us to fully unwind after our adventures. We stayed at cottage 1 which featured a deck, perfect for soaking in the natural surroundings, and a spacious living room that truly felt like a second home.
The level of hospitality we encountered was nothing short of exceptional. The staff showered our four-legged friend with thoughtful amenities, including a cozy dog bed, towels, treats, waste bags, and food and water bowls. Our dining experiences at the front patio restaurant were equally delightful. The seasonal restaurant, Sailor's Valentine, offered a delectable selection of small plates and cocktails, and we were pleased to discover that we could also order from the Breeze menu. The highlight was being able to have our dog join us on the patio, where they graciously provided a water bowl and treats for her. The staff's warm and personalized service made us feel like old friends, and while everyone was fantastic, Nicole's kindness and assistance stood out, making our mornings all the more enjoyable.

The Nantucket Hotel's location is truly unbeatable, just a short stroll from the iconic Brant Point Lighthouse and the enchanting downtown area. Plus, the convenience of shuttle buses made accessing the island's breathtaking beaches and Cisco Brewers a breeze. We're already eagerly anticipating our return to relive this unforgettable experience and our dog cannot wait to be spoiled by the staff again.

I have been coming to Nantucket since 1969 when I first encountered the island and fell in love with the history and people. Each summer I would book a B&B or hotel and plan my sightseeing adventures and dining experiences myself. Truthfully, I wasn’t always thrilled with the choices I’d made. In 2012 the Nantucket Hotel and Resort opened its doors after a long renovation of the previous structure that had stood in its place since 1891. I gave the new hotel a try and have stayed there ever since.
First of all it’s walking distance to museums, shopping, restaurants and the wharf. From the welcome that you get when coming to the reception area, to the amenities that are offered (gym, pool, bar), the wonderful dining experiences or just sitting by the fire pit with a glass of wine, you can’t go wrong. The rooms are impeccably appointed and should you need assistance with making reservations for any place on the island there is always someone to help you out.
If you want the perfect Nantucket experience I encourage you to book the Nantucket Hotel and Resort. I’ve just booked my 2024 experience.

Nantucket is so lovely, and this place is in the heart of it all. However, we were somewhat disappointed by the accommodations (cottage 3) which were not as luxury as the price would lead you to expect. The rooms and bathrooms are TINY. Like NYC tiny. I'm attaching a photo of the six inches between the bed and the dresser. I understand that the cottages are likely old and that's why.

We also noticed several places where the building was literally falling apart (wood that was rotting, tiles that were permanently dirty, etc.). I think they can improve the quality of the rooms.

And while everyone was friendly, we did have a few frustrating experiences with the staff. For instance, no one ever returned our emails (the email they said to reach out to if we had any questions). Staff also couldn't answer simple questions about how the kids club worked. They also failed to call us a taxi as we had requested which led us to be late to the airport. It sometimes felt like the staff were all new and just figuring things out. Friendly but not so competent. Perhaps that's par for course at a seasonal hotel.

Unfortunately I don't think we would stay here again. It was simply not up to the standards you would expect in this price range.

I'm very sorry, but we do not allow pets of any kind at The Nantucket Hotel. If bringing your pet on vacation is important to you, we have some rental homes available at our sister property, Winnetu Oceanside Resort at South Beach, Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard that are pet friendly.
