Positives: AMAZING location, beautiful lobby area and a very simple breakfast provided. Staff were accommodating and helpful in making recommendations for nearby restaurants. Disappointments: Room #15 was not modern/chic (as shown in photos)- it was rustic (for the most part) with a shower/tub that was old and nozzle that was minimally operational (it squealed) and proved challenging to turn on/adjust. Additionally, having no concierge available to lug my suitcase up a long flight of stairs was rough-staff was happy to pick up and carry my small backpack to my room. As a 60 year old woman, I was left wondering about how the elderly and people with disabilities managed such accommodations, in this respect. Overall, this hotel did not meet my expectations and was very costly for what it provided.

This is my second year in a row staying at Hotel Pippa for a solo trip. I LOVE Hotel Pippa. The staff (hi Paula!) is excellent, the rooms are cozy, there is a wonderful breakfast in the morning (my personal fave is orange juice and a chocolate croissant), and it's in the center of town. Beds are also super comfortable - it was a great place to come home to after a fun day out on the island. I highly recommend and am excited to stay there again soon :)))

Great location, very friendly staff and cute rooms! Nicely redesigned and newly decorated. Great patio for sitting and visiting. For the cons: thinnest walls, you can here phone alarms go off in other rooms, talking, flushing toilets. Being on third floor watch your head on ceilings! No bed service for the price I think it should be included. Windows have no way to block out light and it gets bright EARLY! Overall very cute place with great location but don’t go if you’re wanting to sleep in at all!

My kids and I were already in Cape Cod. I called to get some information regarding my two bed reservation. As a single parent with three kids in tow, we always sleep two in one bed and two in the other. The topic came up and the manager stated that with four People id need to reserve an entire additional suite or forfeit approx $1000 for the two nights. I advised that i couldn’t leave two kids alone in a separate room.. they were obviously gaming the situation. I stated we always Stay 2 and 2 in a room as it’s the only way as a single dad I can travel with my kids. The manager began changing stories. She said they weren’t allowed to have four in a room which is nonsense as I was close by in Martha’s Vineyard with 4 In a room at a high profile resort. Same thing earlier in the week in Chatham. And same for over a decade in hundreds and hundreds of hotels. It was also a fact that the hotel had plenty of vacancy. Expedia told me this. Regardless, the manager basically held us ransom - either buy another room or they would basically steal two nights payment. Importantly, neither on their website or expedia could i have selected 1 adult with three kids when booking and nowhere did it say I couldn’t have my kids with me. The only hospitality business that does something like this is either desperate for money and/or has a management team devoid of character. Even if they flat out didn’t want to let me stay in a double room with my kids they obviously Should have given me back my money. Thoughout the process they were rude and dismissive. Clearly this is not the type of b&b you should stay at.

Response from Hotel Pippa, General Manager at Hotel Pippa
Responded May 24, 2023
We regret the frustration you felt with this situation, but we feel your review unfairly misrepresents the situation. • We understand that you were expecting to sleep four guests in one room with two double beds. The number of guests allowed to occupy a room is determined by the local Fire Marshall based on the size of the room and number of egresses. The Fire Marshall has designated our rooms with a maximum occupancy of 2 people, as indicated on both our website and Expedia, which do not offer the option to select more than 2 guests for a reservation. Allowing more than 2 guests to occupy the room presents a safety issue and would jeopardize our business license. The Confirmation email sent in March, upon booking the room for two guests, clearly stated that the maximum occupancy in the room was 2. This information was reiterated in each of the subsequent confirmation emails we sent after making multiple changes to the reservation. Unfortunately, during the multiple communication exchanges in the two months leading up to the arrival date we were never made aware that you intended to have four people stay in the room, instead of two. If we had this information, we would have been able to work together to find suitable accommodation for you all. • We understand that you felt our staff was uncooperative and only interested in keeping your money. Several members of senior management have worked over the past two months to accommodate multiple change requests for your reservation, including the full refund of a canceled third night and a credit for a future stay in the amount of the current reservation. We feel the hotel was extremely transparent with repeated communication about the capacity of the rooms, and management was very accommodating to the evolving requests related to your reservation. If we had known in advance that this was a party of four, we would have had an opportunity to find a satisfactory solution to accommodate everyone. We hope you will utilize the credit for a future stay to return to Nantucket and experience our hospitality in person.

Couldn’t have been more pleased or felt more welcome. Asta (manager/jack of all trades) was like a magical fairy. If we mentioned we wanted to sit outside (January!), all of a sudden the fire pits would be lit and sheep’s wool blankets would magically appear on the couches. If a friend wasn’t feeling well, alkaseltzer for hangovers also magically appeared. Not to mention the fresh eggs from her own chickens at home. Need I say more? -Heidi

This review is long overdue …..I stayed here twice a few summers ago and would go back again a third time. The entire island of Nantucket is like no other. Everywhere you go, the entire island smells of cotton candy & homemade ice-cream waffle cones. I LOVE Hotel Pippa for it’s all white decor & Nantucket-coastal interior design that you only find here on this tiny island. The online pictures really don’t give an accurate depiction of how amazingly beautiful each room is. The hotel building is indigenous to the Nantucket original architecture and cobblestone streets probably built in the 1600’s, with low ceilings and smaller rooms but that’s the whole appeal of this romantic and quaint establishment….OXO I hope to stay here again but this time for an entire summer.

Popped in with my significant other for a drink at the bar. And the bartender Alejandro was just amazing to talk with and learn from. We enjoyed his company so much that we booked a stay for later in the year. He made our experience less stressful and we are so happy that we decided to stop in and chat with him over a wonderful margarita he made! Will definitely be going back because of him.

This hotel has a lot of potential but fell short. Based on pictures and reviews I thought this would be a lot nicer and I was disappointed. Pros - staff was lovely and very helpful! - breakfast was a nice setup - location is amazing! Easy to get to everything. - rooms are a good size Cons - bathrooms are so small there’s barely any space and we were in one of their biggest rooms. - no closet which is annoying but then also the smallest rack to hang clothes. - the tv isn’t a smart tv so you can’t login to Netflix etc if you call it an early night. - no central air, just Home Depot window units that seemed like the filter wasn’t regularly cleaned as we all got stuffed up at night but we’re fine outside of the hotel - no soft close doors so everyone leaving just bangs their doors

This boutique hotel is perfectly located in historic Nantucket, within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The rooms are quite small but quaint. The bed was very comfortable and the continental breakfast eaten in the garden patio gave a European flair to the experience. The women on the hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. Be ready for the high Nantucket prices!
