Hawthorn House is a no frills guesthouse that is very conveniently and centrally located on Chestnut Street. It is one of many centrally located places to stay. Hawthorn house deserves low grades, however, for its service. Although Google says that this is not a B & B, it also

Thank you for your stay at our establishment. We state in our own advertising that breakfast vouchers are not included, beyond that we can only notify large search engines like Google that we have changed our policy. We will continue to work on this problem until it is changed. We do not leave bar soap in any of our rooms in an effort to be more sustainable. We refill our soap dispensers so that we do not have to buy endless plastic products after one use. The coffee machine had dispensers under the shelf, which you explained could not be opened, but that is where I retrieved them to restock... I guess I was able to open it and you were not. We have strongly reprimanded our staff for leaving the doors unlocked, that is inexcusable and we are looking into new locks that automatically shut behind each departure. For that I am very sorry and glad that nothing went missing. We keep our common areas on camera to provide a backup in the event of a rare, unfortunate incident. We did provide you with free overnight parking, which you failed to mention. For anyone reading this: we provide no frills accommodation in the heart of Nantucket at entry level prices. If you read the rest of our reviews you will find our guests are 99% happy!

We recently stayed here after the inn reopened under new ownership. Not much has changed and we like that because HH has been a welcome economical option in the heart of Nantucket. Located on Chestnut St, the inn is within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, and

The room we were in was what felt like a shed that was converted into a room very claustrophobic. Tiny bathroom with a tiny shower. Musty, really damp, lots of spiders in the house ceilings are really low. Price for staying was not in line with the overall condition of the room.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. Room 9 has been a apartment cottage for many years and been enjoyed by travelers who need a studio apartment setup in a downtown location for an affordable price. I am 6 foot 7 inches tall, so I can relate to low ceilings being a problem, but I feel comfortable in the room. Our pictures show the lower ceilings near the bed accurately. August is very humid on Nantucket, we try to fight that by putting a dehumidifier in the room as well as window AC unit. Spiders... I wish I could control ever insect on the property, but it's just impossible. We spray the edges of our building on regular intervals with organic repellant. But alas, some of our eight legged friends get through. Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay as much as we would have liked, maybe it's better you stay at a higher end establishment next time. We offer no frills accommodation at the entry price point on Nantucket.

My wife and I stayed at the Hawthorn House over the 4th of July weekend. What can you say? We expected "good" and got "great." Expectations, upon reading other reviews, were limited, but we had a wonderful experience. The new management has totally re-invigorated the
