We picked room 17 bc of the private entrance and secluded patio space which were both convenient and safe for covid. The packaged breakfasts were nice with hard boiled eggs, yogurt and pastries. I was really happy with the sleeper sofa option for anyone with a noisy/restless sleeping partner (like me)! Note the ceiling is low and the bathroom is snug, which didn’t bother us but wouldn’t work well for those over 5’10ish. The front desk was very accommodating with our asks, towel refresh etc. My favorite space was definitely the back private patio and fire pit. Location is great proximity to downtown

This is a great location if you don’t have a car. Take Hy-Line ferry (pay for the Captain’s View, great seats and you get to board first) get off the ferry and it is a straight shot up main with the hotel on the left about ten minutes. Great helpful staff and clean comfortable room. We had a superior king (room 1). Good quality toiletries. Breakfast is a sampling of several sweet breads, overnight oats, fruit, juice and coffee and other small items.

We spent three nights at 76 Main and could not have been happier. The room was large, bright and immaculate. The staff was professional, courteous, helpful and friendly. The location is very close to the downtown and we could walk to many restaurants, shops and museum as well as the ferries. The breakfast consisted of packaged delights...an assortment of chia and yogurt, salad, deviled eggs and delicious pastry. There are always pastries in the front hall and the ability to make coffee/tea.

I’ve never written a review before but my experience here was so horrible I feel obligated to warn others before they pay top dollar. Not only was the hotel and front desk staff arrogant and completely unprofessional, but most of the time during our trip here the front desk was staffed by a group of teenagers who reeked of marijuana. The staff here have some of the worst attitudes I’ve ever encountered in the service industry. There is a fire pit in the back of the hotel, but it is only turned on during 4 to 7pm. After asking an employee to turn it on at 7:30pm, we were told it would go against the “quiet hours” that Nantucket apparently has after 9pm.
If you’re taller than 6ft I would stay away from here. I am 6 foot and had to crouch down my entire stay in my hotel room because the ceiling is so low. The water pressure in the shower left me red and the mattress in the hotel room left me sore for days. Given the very expensive rate of the hotel I expected service to go above and beyond. We will never be coming back to this hotel (more like motel) again.

Thank you for your feedback. While we look to learn from each guest's experience and take critical feedback as constructive, it is important we clarify a few facts so future travelers aren't mislead. Our firepit hours are 5-9, after which time we do turn it off to respect the folks whose rooms are around the area. Your requests, including calling the emergency line to turn the firepit on, both came after 9 pm. Additionally, the ceiling in the room you stayed in is exactly 84 in and slopes down to 78 inches at its lowest point While it's important to point out the accurate information, we also hear loud and clear that the impression you were left with fell short of what we hope to create. We take that seriously, and will accept your input and use it to make us better for our future guests. Thank you for taking the time to share with us and others.

Great team, great location. It's less than a 10 minute walk from the ferry and less than 5 minutes to downtown. As a single lady, I felt safe walking everywhere alone and at night. Diana was the MOST friendly & helpful human! All of the staff were great & attentive and offered excellent recommendations of things to do and places to eat. However, it was way over priced, most likely only due to demand for the season. They should offer more in the way of breakfast & their happy hour spreads to offset the price. The light breakfast isn't much at all and is first come first serve, don't go too late! The chocolate chip cookies throughout the day were appreciated! Happy hour doesnt include alcohol as they don't have a liquor license. They do offer beach bags/towels and beach chairs to use which is great. The rooms are clean but unassuming, as it does seem to be an older house. The walls are thin and so are the floors, I had a heavy footed person above me one evening. The first night I was in a Petite Queen #5, which was true to the name. I don't think 2 people would fit in this room comfortably. The sink is next to the bed and the shower/toilet room VERY small. Also, it is at the top of the stairs & the self serve coffee/water station is right outside the door. So, if you are a light sleeper, you may want to choose differently. The 2nd night I was in a King room #9, which was much better, more space. The toilet is in a separate room than the sink/shower. The shower is still small but workable. They do provide toiletries in each room. I was missing the fact there was no clock/alarm in either room, but maybe they are going for vacation vibes. Overall, I would recommend this hotel/inn strictly for the team's service and location! Thanks to you all for helping with my birthday stay!

My husband and I spent the weekend here for our anniversary and we really enjoyed our stay. We made a last minute booking during one of their busiest weekends and there was just 1 room left available (petite queen). The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated however if you are looking for space, I suggest opting for one of their larger rooms. The hotel staff was friendly and super accommodating. Added bonus: If you are planning to head to the beach, the hotel will provide you with beach towels and bags so you don't need to worry about packing that during your travels! We had a lovely time here and will definitely be back!

My wife and I, while spending a week on Cape Cod, decided to take the ferry to Nantucket and spend one night there. As this was last minute, I wasn’t sure as to the availability of a hotel room. I read about several hotels on Trip Advisor and then used the 76 Main website to book a single mid week night. This hotel is very efficient in communicating each step of the way from reservations, to confirmation, to check in readiness. Upon arrival, we were provided with all the info we needed about the amenities and then led to our room in a separate building to the rear of the main house. A beautiful courtyard with inviting patio furniture separates the two buildings. Our room was adequately sized for what we needed…but the ceilings are somewhat low. It was very clean and had a comfortable feel to it, not a cookie cutter hotel room. Cocktails were provided in the early evening and we met other guests in the courtyard who were enjoying their stay as well. In the morning, a light breakfast buffet was presented in the kitchen of the main house…overnight oatmeal, deviled eggs, pastries, etc. We enjoyed our stay very much and certainly will return next year. An added plus is that it is only a 7 minute walk from where the ferry docks.

We stayed for 2 nights for a quick weekend. The hotel is located perfectly on Main Street far enough away from the shops but close enough to walk to all the downtown has to offer. The property is immaculate and the staff so friendly and helpful with whatever you need. Guests can borrow beach chairs and beach towels and walk to Children’s beach or Brant Point. We stayed in a Petite King, room 15 on the third floor. The room is small but has everything you need and is so quiet. Keurig brewer with coffee/tea right outside your door! Complimentary continental breakfast too! Highly recommend this property. We will be back!!

Upon check-in we were greeted with friendly smiles and accommodating staff. Our room was spacious, CLEAN, and decorated beautifully. The breakfast which was grab and go due to COVID was delicious. We ate our breakfast in the garden of the hotel each morning, which was lovely. My daughter and I are gluten-free and the staff was more than accommodating by making us breakfast that we could eat and ENJOY! 76 Main’s location is prime! Within minutes you could be at a cafe enjoying a delicious meal or shopping at a unique boutique. We look forward to returning soon!

We decided to splurge on a Nantucket weekend for our anniversary and this inn did not disappoint. We stayed in room 16 that had classic beach decor and colors. The bed and the sheets were so comfortable that I had to research where to buy the sheets. Even the bath products were lovely.

The staff was so friendly and helpful. We got beach chairs and towels for our day trip. Also, I don’t usually get excited about breakfast, but the overnight oats and yoghurt were delicious. Try 76 Main and you will be very happy that you did.

We have a sub with a little trailer with our Harley Davidson bike, do you have parking for that?
Answer from Abbey Hybl
19 contributions
Hi Rose, We do have three parking passes for guests for street parking that are available by reservation. It's worth noting that we've only ever had cars parking on the street and no trailers and the ability to park may depend on the size of your trailer (although if it's just for a motorcycle, it's likely that you'll fit!). Thanks!

Hello We are planning to stay 5 days in June and wondering about ac in a room Thanks Alex
Answer from Amanda Wallace
Portland, Maine
Hi Alex, thanks for your question! The rooms are certainly air conditioned... in fact, the main house rooms had a complete overhaul last year so the AC is great! The guest house rooms just have window units, but even in the heat of summer those tend to be sufficient. Especially as June is not at all an extreme month for temps, you should be just fine, but if you are particularly sensitive, maybe request a room in the main house. Have fun!
Geoffrey G asked a question Sep 2016
Boston, Massachusetts
Is there parking?
Answer from Amanda Wallace
Portland, Maine
76 Main is located in a historic building, in a landmark neighborhood in the heart of town, so parking is very limited. Though we do offer a very limited number of parking passes for on-street parking, we discourage guests from bringing a car to the Island. Nantucket is easy to explore by bike or scooter and our public transportation system is excellent. If you do plan on bringing your car, please let us know in advance so that we can hope to reserve a parking permit for you.

Answer from Dawn H

Hi Louise, Good question. We do not have adjoining rooms at 76 Main, but we do have rooms that can accommodate up to 4 people. Also, our sister property, 21 Broad, which is just a few blocks away, has adjoining rooms. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to call us at 508 228 2533.
