The White Elephant has been an exclusive summertime retreat since the 1920s. The height of preppy New England elegance, this is the place where brides dream of being married and families come for generations. A stone's throw from the center of town, this 67-room island treasure has accommodations ranging from rooms and suites in the iconic Harborside Hotel to sweet Garden Cottages as well as luxurious downtown Lofts. Under a separate listing you will find the White Elephant Residences and Inn. The hotel's mascot, a white elephant named Trunket, presides over its greener than green lawn. Set with plush lounge chairs, it overlooks bustling Nantucket Harbor and calm Children's Beach. Brant Point Grill serves up a famed Sunday brunch, with their signature Lobster Bloody Mary.

i've been spending a summer week or 2 on nantucket for many years starting in the early '80s. initially, i rented a few different homes around the island with friends, and one summer stayed at a very nice B&B in town. but recently i've been staying at the white elephant; this

The White Elephant is a very fine hotel. It is located virtually adjacent to the Ferry Pier and is in walking distance to all of the town sites and restaurants. The rooms are commodious and the restaurant quite good. I have stayed there several times and the stays have always

A bit pricey, but the service was impeccable. All the staff, from the front desk to the shuttle driver, were incredibly helpful and friendly. The room was spacious, with a sofa, a gas fireplace, a desk, 2 dressers, a cabinet, a porch (complete with rocking chairs), a newly

Hi Kristen R; Thank you for reaching out! The weather in April and May is perfect for exploring the island! In fact, the last weekend in April is Daffodil Weekend, (27th, 28th), which is one of my personally favorite times to be here. We have many expecting parents that opt to stay with us due to the safety and ease of travel without the need to go too far. The restaurant scene on Nantucket is amazing. Our pre-arrival concierge team will be able to book some great meals for you. It is really difficult not to enjoy the restaurants here, even if you cant partake in the wine portion! Since exploring the island by bike may not be the best idea, I would recommend renting a car for a day while here to explore the island. Maybe on the other days, the short walk to town would be wonderful. We also have our courtesy cars that can drop you off in town. Rest easy, our wine and cheese also features some hard cheeses, so you can still enjoy your afternoon in our library! I would recommend that you contact our reservations team at 1 800 ISLANDS to talk through some options that you are comfortable with. Sincerely, Bettina Landt General Manager

Dear Shelby; Thank you for asking. We are not booked for next summer, but our rates haven't been loaded into the system as yet. In the meantime, please call us at 1 800 ISLANDS and we are happy to hold the rooms for you and we will call you as soon as our rates are set, probably later this Fall. Hi caseyarchambault! Checkout is at 11AM. We store bags after that and many of our guests choose to leave on later flights or ferries and enjoy a few more hours of Nantucket! See you soon!

Is there a swimming pool?
Hi TAHES; There is not a swimming pool here at the Hotel, although we are right on the Harbor and across from Children's beach. If a pool is very important to you, then we would suggest our sister property, the White Elephant Village, which does have a pool for its guests only. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Bettina Landt

"first floor rooms open up to garden area on the water side that is a lovely place to sit."
"The reservation experts (like Juliet) and the front desk are superb and will guide you"
"Get an OCEAN View room, not a suite. Avoid room 208 as its literally right above the bar..."
"Recommend ocean view rooms. Our suite wasn’t as large as I would have preferred."
"Room 155 was the best!"
