Haughty restaurant manager for whom everything seems to be a huge invonvenience. Zero flexibility in the menu which is extremely limited during the day unless you want to eat a full meal in the restaurant. No snacks, no drinks service on the feted lawn, attentiveness doesn't even figure - there is just a total absence of service. This is an... More

Came here with my husband only a month after our honeymoon to reconvene with friends. The staff could not be warmer and they seem to be really genuine too. There is no pool, but there are 2 beaches and a van service should dismiss any concerns that it is not close to town. The gym is small but if you... More

This hotel is in a beautiful location that is truly one of a kind. The view of the harbor is breathtaking. Although the hotel is nice, I much preferred it prior to the renovation when it was a family hotel. The dining room used to have sweeping views of the harbor. The way they have re-done the hotel you can't... More

My husband and I were here after Labor Day 2011. We chose this property specifically because it did not allow children under 13. I have had too many vacations ruined by kids who run wild and parents who let them “because we’re on vacation!” as one mother told me when I asked her kids to quit screeching up and down... More

I can't say that I have stayed at the Wauwinet. My partner and I booked a room there, but on the afternoon of our arrival the hotel called to say they were "overbooked". They put us up in a sister property with a view of a parking lot instead of the sea. Did they offer any accomodation or reduction in... More

My husband and I were looking for a short an relaxing getaway from work, home and the kids. What we were looking for encompassed tranquility, ease and comfort. The Wauwinet gave us just this. In a 10 mile radius of what Nantucket has to offer, the Wauwinet gives you the luxury of seclusion while being close to authentic New England... More

I have taken the complimentary boat from the White Elephant to the Wauwinet several times for lunch in the past everything was perfect. This week while trying to take visiting relatives over we had the worst experience. I called a day in advance asked for a reservation for 4 and asked what time we needed to be at the boat... More

Under no circumstances should you consider staying at Wauwinet. We cannot even begin to describe our horrific four day experience that included a room with deck that smelled mildewy, a bathroom that under no circumstances could fit more than one person and was old and room service that was horrific. This inn is run by part-time college students who are... More

It all started with a call to my home two weeks before check-in to try to arrange shuttle service from the docks, restaurant reservations, spa treatments, etc. When we arrived in Nantucket the shuttle service was waiting for us. We arrived at the hotel early (1 pm) and our room was not ready (would have liked to check in early,... More

We just returned from 5 days at The Wauwinet. We loved it. We took our 12 year old son knowing that there would not be many children there. In fact there seemed to be only one other family with kids. But we were looking for a spot that would be both quiet and comfortable and this turned out to be... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
THE WAUWINET is situated in between the Atlantic Ocean and Nantucket Bay, The Wauwinet is the island's only Relais & Châteaux hotel. An adults-only escape, it is the stuff of storybook romance. Its grounds are beautifully landscaped, with unmatched views and access to two beaches - one on the ocean and one on the bay. The 33-room inn is a study in luxe comfort, from Pratesi linens to antique furnishings and private sundecks. TOPPER'S, its New American cuisine restaurant, is consistently ranked one of the top in New England. A continual recipient of Wine Spectator's "Grand Award," the restaurant features over 1,400 American and international wine vintages. Guests who want a casual open-air lunch can linger on TOPPER's Deck before ambling out to the beach for sunbathing, a little fishing, or a boat trip. The relaxing and effective menu of treatments features therapies using locally-sourced ingredients. ... more   less
