Authentic accommodation with kind, helpful staff. Quite comfortable and close to everything. There is no elevator and the stairs are steep. Our room was clean and comfortable. We felt safe and slept well. Continental breakfast provided

Property's Favorite Review
I had a wonderful stay, it is an historic house full of charm. The breakfast was great, with muffins to die for. I could only afford the cheapest room in the attic but it was cozy and confortable, with private bath. Alessandra, the lady in service, was very kind and attentive to all guests. I definitely recommend it!

We spent last weekend there and everything was awesome. The room was large and very clean and the bed comfortable. The muffins and scones in the morning were great. Monica, the host was very helpful by suppling us with beach chairs and towels for the weekend. There is convenient parking in the back. I am highly recommending this B&B and look forward to going back.

This is not a B & B experience. We were given a key and gave it back when we left. Housecleaning was perfect but breakfast was with a gallon of juice that you could get from the refrigerator. You eat and leave dishes on a sideboard . If help was needed you had to telephone. No one on site either day or night.

There is absolutely no air conditioning so on hot days you have no relief from the heat coming back to the room at the hotel. I got a headache and lethargic. There is also no heat and during my stay it was also very windy dropping under 50 degrees. I’ve never been so cold for a room I’m paying over $500 per night! I would not recommend staying here if either of those things are important to you. The location is convenient and the place is clean but that’s all I’d say is positive.

DISAPPOINTING This bed and breakfast is not a cozy warm place. It feels more like a hotel than a bed and breakfast. There are no common rooms like most B&B. There is a small area when you come in but its not a welcoming pretty area to lounge and visit. There is no breakfast being served in the morning unlike most bed and breakfast. Instead the food is set out on a table where it remains for hours. Nothing is homemade or healthy. Its all sugary high carb store bought stuff. What made me always choose a bed and breakfast over a hotel was the intimacy of being in a beautiful period home with common rooms to sit and read and converse with others. This place has none of that. It seems as though all of the rooms on the first floor have been converted to bedrooms which left no available kitchen, common areas ect..making it feel like any other sterile hotel but with out any of hotels amenities. The pictures are somewhat misleading.

My wife and I and Sisterlaw recently stayed, our experience was not a pleasant experience at the inn and also our direct communication with the owner of our immediate concerns. My wife unfortunately got very ill day after we checked inn possible covid... We explained it to host Monica who is hard and compassionate worker for the guest she told us to call or text to the owner of leaving due to the circumstances at hand. In conversation with owner she could us offer us a credit for the off season we did not agree or unacceptable. She the owner was still going to charge us full amount!! After many texts explaining my wife is not well that was Only option owner offered. We have stayed in many Inns and 5 star resorts threw out the world this is Not how you treat a Guest or a lasting impression of memory for Inn guest. There were other options owner could have offered suffice to say this was o ly one offered that we did not take. Suppose a guest felt ill will to heartattack or stroke whatever as a owner in the Hospitality industry your response was no refund, but we can offer as a hideous token a one night during the off season! As guests we will never go back or recommend Cliff Lodge ever ever Again..**.Don't get ill or in a emergency situation that is their Policy! Craig & Michele

We stayed here for 3 nights. The inn was clean and pleasant, staff was friendly and helpful. Walking distance to town. The room rate was fairly priced. Our room had a queen bed and a small bathroom, but the size or the rooms were as expected for a lodge of this age (built in the 1700's?).

Back in the 80s I used to stay at Cliff Lodge often while I was trying to decide whether or not to move to Nantucket. (I did and stayed for 9 years.) So I was thrilled to see that my favorite room, number 7, was available for the 2 nights I planned on being on-island last month. Upon check-in there was nobody in the lobby to help so I pressed a button on the wall two or three times in 15 minutes but got no response. Then I noticed a hand-written sign saying to call a local number for assistance. Well, I did but that's annoying when you don't have a US phone and are basically calling long distance from Europe, kind of a waste. Then I got to my beloved room 7 which no longer had the lovely blue and yellow flowered wallpaper (yeah, I know, it was peak Laura Ashley days when I stayed there). The room was redecorated but the color was a depressing gray/green and all of the trim looked tired and chipped. The TV never worked and I just didn't bother seeking someone out to help with it. The glass shelf over the sink was gone but the two fixtures to hold the glass in remained. There was a little side table painted white, also worn and chipped. The bed used to be a double bed fitted into a little niche that made it cozy. Now there is a twin with a one foot gap between the edge and the wall. I haven't slept in a twin bed since I moved out of my parents' house back in 1975. I found the breakfast to be pretty decent so no complaints there and the staff that I did bump into were extremely nice. But every time I went up and down the stairs to and from my room I was shocked at the state of the carpet on the stairs. It was absolutely filthy. The charm of Cliff Lodge was gone for me and that made me very nostalgic for the 80s and the former innkeeper, Geri.

The following review is not a reflection on the hardworking staff of the Cliff Lodge! They are doing their best under what seems like a change of management or business plan that has affected the flavor and character of this (formerly) historic and charming gem ! The mag-ACK of Cliff Lodge aside from its history and location was in the delicious details. It’s endearing and unique charm was found largely in touches - thoughtful decor, deliciously curated breakfast trays, botanical toiletries, etc. The rooms still have themes and are kept tidy but so many of the thoughtful details that used to set Cliff apart were sadly missing this year. Not only were they missing, but the website did not reflect their changes (still features a list of amenities that are in large part now a distant, fond memory….) Given its past reputation and wonderful location, I have no doubt Cliff will continue to financially succeed. However the obviously cut corners chip away at its charm and reputation in Nantucket and beyond. Please consider restoring Cliff Lodge to its rightful place as one of ACKs most endearing and inviting gems. Nantucket isn’t just about making a buck, it’s about history and tradition and a unique charm all to its own. I hope Cliff Lodge can once again reflect that.
