This hotel is very well located in downtown Nantucket, close to restaurants. shopping, and can walk from the ferry! The room was very small, bed a regular queen which is always a bit tight for two adults. The decor and upkeep of the hotel is superb. Every attention to detail is evident, beautiful woodwork, lighting, ambience throughout. The tile in the spacious bathroom is so beautiful with scenes from the sea.
My only complaint is that there is no common space in the hotel. With such a small room that had no chair there was no where to go except sit on the bed. This makes it difficult to find a spot to sit and wait, relax and have coffee, read. It appears the common space is now a restaurant which is very lovely. Other inns in the area have common areas, patios, front porch, which are very welcoming to guests.

All hotels have their quirks, some resulting from the building structures and some from management decisions. Our six night stay in room 12 (the Broad Suite) had very few quirks, but it did have a noise problem on the Friday and Saturday nights when the amplified base noise from a nearby club made sleep almost impossible fro 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The front desk offered earplugs! The suite was spacious and the bathroom a good size. The large bed was very comfortable, although on getting out on one side care has to be taken by tall people not to hit their head on the low sloping roof structure. That same sloping roof resulted in the bathroom mirror being knee high to a grasshopper, making shaving and make up less than easy. There was no separate dressing table area for women applying makeup. The closet was a good size and well set out. The walk in shower (but no bath) had good pressure of hot water and the towels were fluffy. Small quibbles were the lack of an in room coffee maker (there was a refrigerator and a safe) and the apparent lack of in-room stationery to write letters (maybe in today’s text and email world few do that?) and note pads. Coffee was available in the lobby from 07:00. We found the front desk staff to be very helpful and friendly - but there is no common area in the hotel so once there one had to go straight to ones room. Even the bar of the adjoining restaurant was not readily available for a cocktail or night cap.

I can’t say enough on how wonderful our stay has been this weekend. We came to Nantucket for a quick mother-daughter trip. The team has been so incredibly welcoming and kind, truly making you feel as if you are staying with family. John shows so much warmth in his conversations with you and always took the time to greet us every time we saw him. Kate went out of her way to help me out; I left something back upstairs and she happily ran upstairs to get it for me saving me a trip back up with the stroller and all my items. The property is decorated beautifully. The rooms are so well kept, bringing a quaint charm to the stay and all lights/outlets are up to date in working order. The location is absolutely perfect as we could stop back in easily for a break/drop things off, then head out again! We are sad to leave tomorrow but will definitely stay here again soon. I truly can’t thank John and his team enough. Do not hesitate to book, you will have the most fabulous stay!!!!

We had read articles about the property's impressive restoration and references to one of the best boutique hotels in America. However, our experience did not live up to the hype. Staff was not welcoming or hospitable. Hotel is not comfortable. The bedding wasn't comfortable. There aren't really any comfortable public sitting areas. There were photos on line that looked like a nice outdoor veranda but in reality it is just a deck used for dining. The backyard is accessible via an unattractive path and just has a couple of chairs and a table on the grass. Our rooms were both missing doorknobs and pegs on wall coat hangers. One room had a light out in the bathroom. Both showers lacked hot water. Bring earplugs to sleep. Lots of loud slamming doors from other rooms. Also might want to make other arrangements for coffee/tea. The on site coffee maker didn't work one day and the tea cannisters were empty. There was also supposed to be morning muffins daily, but on one day the delivery didn't happen, so no muffins, yet the doily from the day before on the tray, full of crumbs, was still there. Didn't think to take photos to share but that was our experience. Unfortunately, disappointing. I did like being able to hear the ferry whistles blow from the near by ferries arriving in the harbor and the location was very convenient to everything in town and to shuttles to other points of interest.

Staff was friendly and helped as much as they could. Location is great if you want to be in town and walking distance to the ferries. The building is very interesting. Sadly, however, the hotel is far from a 4*.
We booked it over the phone directly with the hotel, because we were travelling with a child and wanted to make sure they accepted children and had an extra bed to accommodate 3 of us. We were offered one of the biggest rooms (at around $1,200/night) so we could all be comfortable. Turns out the so called “garden suite” is not at garden level but at basement level. And there was no additional bed for the child - talking to the staff the hotel does not provide rollaway beds (they do have pack n’plays but my kid is too big for those).

The room has two tiny windows at street level. The blind in one of the windows was busted and wouldn’t roll down. The reception staff was going to call maintenance but nobody came. So we had to improvise a makeshift blind to get some privacy.

The room smelled stale, the shower curtains in the bathroom were musty. There was a constant noise of a pump. Mattress was uncomfortable and so the pillows.

On the second day of our stay, the room cleaning only showed up at 3:15. We were just back from the beach, so we asked them for 2’ to gather our thighs and leave so they could clean it. We were told they leave at 3:30 so they couldn’t wait for us.

A very disappointing experience.

Other than being on the waterfront you can't get a better location in the town of Nantucket that Greydon House, it's literally in the heart of town. The building is charmingly old, but with fresh super clean rooms. The bathroom had new old-style fixtures and the shower was large, spotlessly clean and had high water pressure. The bed linens were top grade, there was a safe, mini fridge and all the niceties. That said, the best thing about Greydon House was the two gentlement, Garrison and Evan, who manned the from desk. They were incredibly cheerful and helpful and really made us feel welcome dispite the fact we were only staying one night. We checked our bags early and Garrison called me when the room was ready and had our bags already in the room when we arrived. After checkout the next day Evan cheerfully checked our bags again unilll the ferry left. We will definitely be back here.

I rarely take time to write a review, but my husband and I both agreed we HAD to for the Greydon House. We stayed here for five nights and it was phenomenal from top to bottom. The front desk, especially Kate, was extremely welcoming, and attentive to our needs. I broke my ankle right before our arrival and I needed a little more attention, and the entire staff bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. That included more pillows to prop my ankle up, allowing us to use a lift that is for the restaurant to go up and down the stairs. The room was fantastic, room 16, a deluxe king. The bathroom was long enough and had a very nice view of the road from the bathroom. The shower is next level, and the water pressure could be changed at anytime.

First off the room was tiny. It was also nearly $700 for the night. It didn't have a desk, or even a chair. And neither did the lobby. So if you needed to get any work done on a laptop you really wouldn't be able to unless you are ok balancing it on your lap while in bed.

The vanity in the bathroom was also practically non-existent with no space to set one's toothbrush and other toiletries.

The fan on the AC unit was silent and the walls were thin so even thought it wasn't a loud place every noise outside and in the surrounding rooms was auditable.

The adjoining restaurant was overpriced too. The bar had no beer on tap and lacked some basic ingredients for standard cocktails. Also the bar was unsanitary and dirty

There was little to no parking available.

And breakfast consisted of a muffin.

So while it was a nice hotel, it was lacking in features and amenities that even the least expensive most basic hotels always provide. That's why I call this place an overpriced ripoff.

I do not usually take the time to write a review( I should) but when I do you can be assured that it made THAT much of an impression on me to do it. I was greeted by Kate at the front desk with a very impressionable smile and honest eyes. She took the time to show me to my room, gave me a list of the eating places that actually were open ( because of COVID times) She was apologetic that their rest wasnt open and made sure I knew where I was going. She was there after I returned every day to m y room ( i was there on business). I know that I was kind of a pain with my questions but she went OUT OF HER way to make me comfortable and I asked If I could have a few extra pillows and where I could get Ice for my room, and each night she personally went and got me some and acted like she wasnt bothered by my requests at all. I had a wonderful time, my room was wonderful, clean, updated, everything worked and and it was very quiet, I will give the hotel and KATE a solid 5 star review and will look forward to staying there again, Marc R Ledoux Sr. Voluntown Connecticut

Pros: Location - close to the Ferry, about a 5 minute walk. Close to the main shopping area and restaurants. Clean.
Cons: as most places in Nantucket, there is no parking. In the summer if you do find parking, the maximin time allotted is 2 hours, which means you have to move your car every two hours. After mid October apparently you can leave your car longer in the 2 hour limit areas. I had to park 5 blocks away from the hotel, certainly not convenient when you have bags.
Do not get a “Garden Level” room (basement): the hallway is dark and there were boxes stacked near our door the entire time of our stay. The shower fixture was broken and wasn’t usable, but they did get it fixed for us later in the morning.
Walls are thin; I could hear our neighbor snoring.

Thanks for taking a few minutes to provide us feedback StaciH. Our location is indeed one of the best on the island, and a quick launch out to shopping and dining for sure! The good news is during the Summer months we do have parking passes for the 2-hour zones, so guests do not need to move their cars every two hours. Starting October 1, those spaces do open up for non-ticketed parking 24 hours a day as you mentioned. Sorry that you had to park so far away, that is usually not an issue during the offseason! We do hope to have you back here at Greydon House in the future, and again appreciate you staying with us. We know there are options out there, and our team strives to be the best option on Nantucket. Thanks again!
