Staff was friendly and helped as much as they could. Location is great if you want to be in town and walking distance to the ferries. The building is very interesting. Sadly, however, the hotel is far from a 4*. We booked it over the phone directly with the hotel, because we were travelling with a child and wanted to make sure they accepted children and had an extra bed to accommodate 3 of us. We were offered one of the biggest rooms (at around $1,200/night) so we could all be comfortable. Turns out the so called “garden suite” is not at garden level but at basement level. And there was no additional bed for the child - talking to the staff the hotel does not provide rollaway beds (they do have pack n’plays but my kid is too big for those). The room has two tiny windows at street level. The blind in one of the windows was busted and wouldn’t roll down. The reception staff was going to call maintenance but nobody came. So we had to improvise a makeshift blind to get some privacy. The room smelled stale, the shower curtains in the bathroom were musty. There was a constant noise of a pump. Mattress was uncomfortable and so the pillows. On the second day of our stay, the room cleaning only showed up at 3:15. We were just back from the beach, so we asked them for 2’ to gather our thighs and leave so they could clean it. We were told they leave at 3:30 so they couldn’t wait for us. A very disappointing experience.

I can’t say enough on how wonderful our stay has been this weekend. We came to Nantucket for a quick mother-daughter trip. The team has been so incredibly welcoming and kind, truly making you feel as if you are staying with family. John shows so much warmth in his conversations with you and always took the time to greet us every time we saw him. Kate went out of her way to help me out; I left something back upstairs and she happily ran upstairs to get it for me saving me a trip back up with the stroller and all my items. The property is decorated beautifully. The rooms are so well kept, bringing a quaint charm to the stay and all lights/outlets are up to date in working order. The location is absolutely perfect as we could stop back in easily for a break/drop things off, then head out again! We are sad to leave tomorrow but will definitely stay here again soon. I truly can’t thank John and his team enough. Do not hesitate to book, you will have the most fabulous stay!!!!

Fairly nice place but I rate it low for a THOUGHTLESS DESIGN CHOICE. Hotels should be CONSIDERATE of guest needs. Someone made the decision to put cheap-o hanging lamps over the bedside tables. These are the ONLY SOURCES OF LIGHT in the bedroom. These lamps are wired to a switch by the door of the room. Soooo…. If you need to have a little light in the middle of the night, you can’t just reach and turn on the light, you need to get out of bed, walk to the door, and illuminate the entire room! Yes, it’s more convenient than using a flint and stone to light a whale-oil lamp. Is it “quaint”? NOPE. It’s a pain in the neck, is what it is. Now how would a designer avoid such a screw-up? Well MAYBE by thinking of how the design affects the guest, instead of only thinking of how cute the lamps look in photos on the website or how much money is saved. In other words, by BEING CONSIDERATE. It’s a SHAME that an otherwise nice place has such an idiotic flaw, but there you go. Two stars.

Hi there Horace. Sorry to hear about the lighting issue in your room, but we are surprised as every room on property has controls for the lights on either side of the bed next to the outlets. Rest assured, our team will be better at communicating this feature to future guests, and hopefully this reply to your feedback will help others reading this review as well. Appreciate your feedback on the lights themselves as well. We usually receive positive feedback on those as they were custom created for us by Roman and Williams Guild and are even available for sale on their website. Needless to say, appreciate your stay with us, and hopefully we can get you right on your next visit to Nantucket.

Really fantastic stay. Everything in the room is perfectly appointed from the sheets to the tiles and decor. The staff at front desk were very helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was the best I have had in a long time. Hot and great water pressure.

Such a romantic place. We loved our room for our anniversary. Everything about it was fantastic! Soft bed, great robes, wonderful shower pressure and it is just beautifully decorated. You can walk to anywhere you need to go. Brandt point for dinner or Lemon Press for breakfast. Close to the ferry as well. No need to rush to get to the dock.

We stayed here to celebrate an anniversary for a weekend. It was incredibly dog friendly, and an easy walk to all shops and the ferry. Rooms were beautifully designed, though very small. We had a great dinner at the in house restaurant, but would have welcomed breakfast on the property as well. We would happily return, though would make a point of requesting a larger room next time.

Pros: Location - close to the Ferry, about a 5 minute walk. Close to the main shopping area and restaurants. Clean. Cons: as most places in Nantucket, there is no parking. In the summer if you do find parking, the maximin time allotted is 2 hours, which means you have to move your car every two hours. After mid October apparently you can leave your car longer in the 2 hour limit areas. I had to park 5 blocks away from the hotel, certainly not convenient when you have bags. Do not get a “Garden Level” room (basement): the hallway is dark and there were boxes stacked near our door the entire time of our stay. The shower fixture was broken and wasn’t usable, but they did get it fixed for us later in the morning. Walls are thin; I could hear our neighbor snoring.

Thanks for taking a few minutes to provide us feedback StaciH. Our location is indeed one of the best on the island, and a quick launch out to shopping and dining for sure! The good news is during the Summer months we do have parking passes for the 2-hour zones, so guests do not need to move their cars every two hours. Starting October 1, those spaces do open up for non-ticketed parking 24 hours a day as you mentioned. Sorry that you had to park so far away, that is usually not an issue during the offseason! We do hope to have you back here at Greydon House in the future, and again appreciate you staying with us. We know there are options out there, and our team strives to be the best option on Nantucket. Thanks again!

This hotel has a great location and the best staff! We stayed 3 night in the Broad Suite #12 after our Veranda hotel (originally reserved )caught fire. Evan greeted us and was so nice! The room was beautiful, bed comfy! The location -best :you are across from visitors center and the Wave bus which is excellent! Only minus was no breakfast-I was really looking forward to that being included. They do have coffee every morning. I was hesitant to stay here since there had not been recent reviews but happy we chose this hotel.

Prefacing this by saying we stayed at two places on our most recent trip to Nantucket and Greydon House has the potential to move up to a four or a five once it buttons up a few more things. Walking from the high-speed ferry we were thrilled to reach Greydon House so quickly. Check in was quick and our room was ready early and we were off to explore after checking in. The next morning we were expecting the coffee to be ready by 7:00 as told, it was closer to 7:25 when it was ready. Also our air conditioning/thermostat was not working and we let them know so they could work on it while we were gone this next day. Long story short it took way longer than expected and the work was not what we would have expected in a top notch hotel in Nantucket. It did eventually get fixed this same day. We brought up the scenario to GM Garison and he did make an adjustment for us. Garison has a world of high end hotel experience and we wish him the best in the continuing reimagining of the Greydon House. There is no common area and a small porch, so no breakfast offered and if the two porch chairs are in use there is no where else outside of your room to relax and chill. A well known Italian restaurant is connected to Greydon House, our suggestion is to host a continental breakfast there 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and then leave a portion of it as a gathering space until a few hours before the restaurant opens. They are trying for sure and this is what counts as I expect the experience to continue to improve.

Hi Joe, nice to connect with you again. We've already discussed the issues outlined in your review, and unfortunately, sometimes maintenance issues do happen. We were happy that we were able to resolve it quickly. The restaurant space is always available to our guests when they aren't in service, and there is a porch outside that is a great spot to people watch with much more seating! Hopefully when you are back next we can ensure you are able to enjoy all that the Greydon House has to offer!
